  • fbs 5.1 yesterday, 5.4 today, (had no snack before bed) and weight is back to ticker again. Tonight is ww but my buddy is away and I don't think I will go. Might go to a different meeting for weigh in though. I haven't been tracking much either, but have been mindful of eating.
Trish, I hear you about doing the same thing and expecting different results. BUT, the same goes for eating anyway, (like higher carb) and expecting decent blood sugars. And it is said that smokers have to quit many times before they stay quit. SO, I am gonna keep trying, and trying to figure out how to manage carbs when I go off plan.
Eating carbs seems to still make me want more. So I need to figure out what to do when I have some for any reason. (LIke not having food with me, and having a sandwich etc) SO that I don't go way off and not get back to plan.
The thing is, no matter the serving, bread, and all wheat, still makes my sugars spike. I just don't think I can have it in my diet on a regular basis.
BY itself, that is a hard thing. SO many people serve pastas, and use flour in food.
BOnnie, don't worry about the numbers, just watch them change!
    Ah well, onward and outward.
    have a great Tuesday friends.
Hello to Ruth and everyone else.
  • Bonnie - I went the torment of a new scale a few weeks ago. But like Fatmad says don't get hung up on the numbers. I finally got past my reaction and put my ticker back on here. I actually used it as a wake up call, because I had promised myself I would never get up into the 240's which is where my highest wait was about 12 yrs ago. But you know, I lost it before and I am determined to do it again only thing is this time, I am going to learn to do it so I can keep it off.

Fatmad I've learned that I can handle some carbs in moderation just can't go wild with them. However, there does seem to be some carby foods that my body just doesn't seem to handle.

My eating has settled into the Intermittent Fasting woe because it is natural for me to just not eat breakfast. I researched it more and found that there are a lot of benefits to eating that way. I didn't necessarily plan to eat that way, but I found when I do Intuitive Eating that I just do not want anything to eat until around noon. That is when I eat my fruit, about an hour or so before I eat a meal. I am the kind of person who needs a cut off time at night so I can stop the night time eating. So I eat my last bit of food around 7:30 pm. Gives me an 8 hr eating window and the fast 16 hrs to give my body a good number of hours to rest before I start feeding it again.

I'm keeping a record of fbs and weight daily and the interesting thing I seem to be observing is that both are coming down, they are coming down slow and steadily now. I'm thinking that this will take a little longer to get things where I want them, but I believe it is the best way. I've always tried to do this fast and got no where. Now I think slow is the way to go for me.
  • Trish, I hear you with the natural hunger thing. I need the breakfast, but DH doesn't like it. He has been having a glass of soymilk in the mornings, (he has chocolate, but thats mr naturally skinny for you) and that holds him for a couple of hours, then he eats brunch. He used to get kind of nauseous from not eating, but he didn't associate that feeling with hunger. He is doing well that way, maintaining a healthy weight, and eating better in general because of it.
I think if thats your natural bent, its ok. You might do well with a high protein smoothie to start your day, as the protein is supposed to be great for weight loss. I am sticking to high pro breakfasts and that seems to help. I am reading some new articles about weight gain and type 2 diabetes research that are very interesting and will post links soon.
  • We took our aunt to her Dr apt today and he was not happy with the Dr that did the Biopsy he is sending her to a surgeon at musc because she isnt out of the woods and he believes she has gotten a false postive on the no cancer thing one of the blood test he did shows she has elevated levels for a tumor marker . So now waiting for the Dr to call with the apt to the surgeon..

    Whaaaaah
  • Here I go again.

Mad - I don't know what you mean when you say you have not felt sated after you eat. Do you mean you are still hungry after a meal, or are you just craving more? My problem is if I eat until I feel sated I still want to eat because my body is used to feeling stuffed. I am looking forward to your links. I need some inspiration.

Bonnie - I feel bad for your aunt. I know she has put you through a lot but you have tried to help her in spite of it. She should be able to get a firm answer to her problems and not get different answers from different doctors.

Also, I hope your daughter finds out what's causing her headaches and I hope it's nothing serious. Sometimes it can be food allergies. You can go for years eating something and then all of a sudden you develop an allergy.

Trish - I looked into CALP and realized I did try it before. LOL I have the book Carbohydrate Addicts Diet. The problem I had with it is I cannot keep my carbs to the same meal every day. I am very good at limiting carbs to just one meal a day, but it isn't always the same meal. Sometimes I have toast with eggs in the morning and no carbs after that. Other times I don't eat carbs until dinner. I was able to do low carb years ago when I was doing it for weight control, but since I married Mr Carb himself, it's harder to do.

I also like IF. Lately I haven't been hungry when I first get up. As long as I don't feel nauseated or shaky I can go without eating until I actually get hungry. I have heard that diabetics should not do IF because they are supposed to eat on a regular schedule. If they go too long without eating their liver will dump glucose into their blood stream, but why would the liver dump glucose if the blood sugar is not low? I don't understand a lot about how diabetes works because some of the things I hear don't work the same way with me. I think I listen too much to what other people tell me and I should just listen to my own body.

Ruth - Why do you want to give up wine? I have heard recently that not only is a glass of wine OK, but it is actually recommended, as long as you stick to one glass or maybe two, tops. I like red wine mixed with diet ginger ale. Then I can have a couple since it's diluted.

I hope all my other posts that I lost don't eventually turn up. I will be saying the same thing over and over and over. LOL
  • I have checked my sugar twice today this morning it was 162 and before lunch it was 176 I dont get it I ate breakfast about 9:30 and then this afternoon I ate lunch at 1:30 . I had a 3/4 cup of almond bunches of o's with 1 cup milk and a banana for breakfast. Then I had nothing till lunch it was 3 oz chicken and 1/2 cup corn.

By the way got a letter from my insurance company that they are no longer paying for the supplies for my contour BS machine. They are switching to Accu-View so now I have to go to the Dr and get perscriptions for all the supplies and machine. At least they sent me a letter to let me know they are no longer covering the supplies of the other machine.

OMG I jest thought of something I tried the Hair Nail and Skin vitamins May be thats why my sugar is so high......

I've done that too Carol Sue even lost my posts. I think it has something to do with 3fc because it only happens here. I get warnings from McAfee that it isn't safe to be here sometimes. Although I trust 3fc and go ahead and use it, but when I type a good post to everyone and lose it, I find it just too much trouble to rewrite it. So that is why I've gotten to the place that I lurk more than write.

I am doing more of an IF. I've been reading a book by Dr. Julian Whitaker. I think that a lot of problems with diabetic and IF has to do with the medication they take. If you take a med that has a tendency to cause them to experience hypoglycemia. I don't take that med, so I think I'm pretty safe. I don't always go without breakfast or use the same 8 hrs each day of eating. I listen more to what my body tells me (Intuitive Eating woe.) I only use an 8 hr eating window. It may start with a breakfast meal at 9 ish or it may be noonish. Today, I didn't eat anything until about 1 o'clock and I started with fruit and then waited until 2 to have a real meal. I stopped eating at 7:30 pm. I just don't want to eat past 8 pm at night even though my 8 hr window might say I could eat as late as 9 or even 10. I personally think learning to eat the way our body needs things done so we can get the weight and fbs down is the real goal here... especially for me.
  • today's fbs 5.3, weight the same. Had a good day, but for some reason after lunch I vomited everything. Didn't bother to eat more. Don't know what that was about.
Bonnie, that was a lot of carbs with breakfast, so even if the amount was not a lot of calories, the banana is a high carb fruit with a high glycemic index. Can you have whole grain toast with sugar free peanut butter? Or a fibre one cereal that uses splenda? The O's are sweetened with sugar, so won't help your sugars.
    Tired, going to sleep early.
hope everyone has a good day.
  • Good morning, Chickies. Been up to my a$$ in work lately but FBGL is staying stable. Weight is iffy these days. I really must go back to Atkins for a while. Too many carby events are making it hard. Off to Ottawa today for a big meeting re quilting and am taking my own salad with HB egg.
