Ruth, I think pasta may be doable for you if you use good portion control. Are you gonna get into homemade pasta? I think ensuring there are eggs in it would help too, would lower the glycemic index a bit. And of course, the walking helps your bg too. Good habits to get into, walking to get the mail.

Yes indeed, the scale is happy with me, no extra weight from my time away. Aside from not being sidetracked and needing to "re-lose" the weight, this means I can go away, and that watching my plan works, makes me think maintenance is possible, and I don't have to give in and eat what others push me towards, its worth it to stick to plan!

It'll go on my list for today. I'm thinking a chick pea soup with greens in it and a small green salad for lunch and will crank up the new wee BBQ to do pork tenderloin for dinner with green beans and some acorn squash. I'm anxious to get back into routine and cook in my own kitchen. (Note to Self: Check out fat content in chick peas.)
