Default hey guys!!

hey guys, or rather gals...im a recently diagnosed type 2 that is here to get some help with losing weight and here to help others as well.

i was diagnosed july 21 with a fasting BG of 400. I did insulin for 2 weeks and have now come off that and i am only taking metformin (1000mg 2x daily). I have lost 32 pounds since my weight at the time i was diagnosed so i know that helps but i have a lot further to go.

my doc, actually my dietitian has me on a strict diet plan to kick start everything. it involves some shakes for 2 meals a day (metagenics, if you have heard of it) and is part of a program called First Line Therapy, designed for really obese people or people like me with other problems.

i like it because the less choices i have to make as far as food, the better i do. this is the most weight i have lost but even after losing 32 pounds, i still feel fat and dont feel like i look any better. im sure i do but it just shows me how much i think i want to lose.

so im here to help and to be helped. ill do what i can for others, feel free to ask!!

Hi there, boyyo . . . so glad you've found us and glad you are heading in the right direction (downward). It's definitely not a fund disease, but it is manageable.

Cardinalsfan,

I am like you in that I was just diagnosed in June. I understand what you mean by it being a big shocker. It takes a while to get used to also.

Meowee has posted some information that has been very helpful to me about high and low GI foods. I'm not sure where I read it, but it helped out alot.

I've been asking tons of questions in the forums, but I've learned that everyone's experiences with diabetes and bgl data is different. They're always very patient with me -- being new to the disease and all. And they do give good advice!

Welcome! We can all support one another through this challenge!
