I take Lexapro as part of my medication cocktail for bipolar disorder. I'm not sure it's doing anything for me at 10mg, but any higher and I get manic. SO, we are staying away from that since I'm only on one mood stabilizer at the moment. Life is much better when I'm NOT binging off the walls.

I went to the Psych, and we decided to not start the Wellbutrin yet - we're going to give my current dose a little more time, since it's been only 2 weeks. For the most part, my depression has improved and my anxiety has some too. I spent Thurs and Fri crying but things are starting to turn around now.

I hope you all are having a good weekend!

Has any of your Drs. given you anything to manage your weight along with the antidepressants? I go to the Doc on the 20th and I'm not sure what to ask her for. I haven't taken anything in two years so I'm not sure if I should go back to the Zoloft or should I try something else. I am also at my heaviest weight and I am not sure how I am going to manage my weight and not gain any with the meds. I have never taken anything to make you lose weight or and appetite supressant, so I'm not sure if they give you that option.

I was on Lexapro for little over two years and at the time it worked for me. I'm on Celexa now and like it a bit more...I don't feel as zombie-like (when I was on Lexapro). My anxiety is better, but let me tell you, the weight gain can be an issue. Since being the medication I gained 50 lbs. I seem to gain the most right in my belly. My sister had the same problem with Paxil. Oh, and don't go off any of these meds cold turkey (sure your doctor has told you that). I did off Lexapro...and big mistake...a year later I have head tremors that stemmed from the neurological shock of stopping the meds. Good luck to you!

and that helped my cravings incredibley, and i
was full with much less food, it was terrific,
and helped me sleep, but it was hard to concentrate
for me, but that is just my experience,
from what i hear Wellbutrin is terrific to not gain weight,
but i've never gained weight will the different meds i've taken,
my main drug i've been on is Effexor, and prozac, and Klonopin(substituted for xanax)

I've been on Lexapro since Feb. 2004. It's been working really well for me, but when I started it, I would have little periods of time where I'd have nausea and severe dizziness. But, I like it.
