Also..... there is NOT any kind of quick and easy weight loss fix!!! No pills or anything will help you lose weight in a healthy lasting way! A healthy well balanced diet with exercise is how to successfully lose weight in a healthy way and keep it off. A healthy weight loss is about 2 pounds a week.

Not to be rude.... but didn't you (Got2bethin) ask this question in other boards you made? I recall reading discussions on this just a few days ago... and I beleive it was with you. I think you got the same responces too. The people here are just trying to help you.... and help you in a healthy way! There is tons of advice and help here... for many different weight loss plans... you can't go wrong here! Everyone seems to be saying the same things..... "fasting is not a good idea" and so on.... please take the advice and lose weight in a healthy way!! It is in your best interest. Again, not trying to be rude. I just remember this being posted in a couple of other places.

Well, if you are consuming only simple carbohydrates for 2 weeks in the form of fruit juice it is very possible to pass out from your blood sugar being all screwed up. What would happen if you passed out and noone was home with you and the baby?

If you go on a juice fast for 2 weeks, not only will you most likely gain the weight back, but you will also lose MUSCLE MASS from your body. This is something that you do not want to lose. You want your weight loss to be mostly fat, and very little muscle lost. If you lose 10 pounds on a juice fast and it is mostly water and muscle mass-you are going to still be flabby-because the fat will stay. You still won't be happy with your body.

If you lose slower and healthier by eating better and exercising from the start-you will lose more fat, and less muscle-so the flab will go, and the firm shapely muscle mass will be what stays on your body.

I can sense your desperation to lose weight-but you have to think about whether you want to lose weight really quick and lose muscle-then have all the weight come back with more in a few months-or whether you want to do it the healthy way and lose slow with a good diet and exercise and KEEP IT OFF. What is the point of losing weight if you don't change your lifestyle to keep it off for life? Any sustained weight loss must be through a lifestyle change, and not a "diet".

Okay, here it goes ...

I feel the need to fast because I have no motivation to exercise and whatnot -- to me, fasting is an easy way out (whether it truly is or not) I want to lay in bed and cry at night because I'm so disgusted with my body. I have never been this fat in my life and each time I'm in the shower or look in the mirror I can't believe what I see. I've considered fasting because I have heard many people say they have lost 30 - 40lbs in just a couple wks - 1 month - by fasting for that period of time. I understand the consequences as well -- I realize that it can't be super duper healthy .. and that not everyone who does it doesn't any horrible side effects. I understand all of this. It's just hard for me to listen to those who say it's the wrong thing to do because this weight it something I desperately want to lose .. and in a very short time. Once I reach my GW, I will then be happy and start to exercise regularly and eat healthy.

I don't know if any of this made sense or not, but anyway ..

no, it doesn't make any sense, but I DO understand (i think) because sometimes I feel that way too sometimes (self-disgust at my body)....

why WAIT to start eating healthy and exercise? why not start NOW?

Of course you can do what you like, but The TRUTH is plain and simple, it doesn't work. You'll lose water, muscle, electrolytes...then the scale will stop moving after 3-4 days as your body hangs onto every ounce. By then you'll be so darned hungry that you'll be ready to chew on a table-leg...you'll be irritable, crabby, tired and how do you expect to deal with a 14 month old child you are responsible for? And JUICY JUICE? geeze, look at the sugar content....(sugar=fat)

If you feel that you MUST fast, why not take an approach that will do less harm.... say 24 hours of liquids, vegetable juice, broth, herbal tea only, followed by light protein, yogurt, vegetables.... (this is just a suggestion, I don't advocate it)

go to WebMD or other medical sites for ACCURATE information on what you will be doing to yourself.

Your weight didn't accumulate overnight and it won't leave overnight or within 2 weeks....as much as we all want it to....I wish there were a way to lose 10 lbs. in 10 minutes too.

good luck!

Got2BeThin-EVERYONE who has lost a significant amount of weight here at 3FC has been in your shoes. We have all been disgusted with ourselves, and have all cried and felt the way that you do. When I was 211 pounds-I would have loved to have found something that would have taken my weight away in 2 weeks, or in a month. But-it doesn't exist. If it did, we would ALL be thin.

You don't gain 30 or 50 pounds in a month, and you aren't going to lose it in a month. But, you CAN safely lose 10 pounds this month if you really stick with a low calorie eating plan of around 1200-1400 calories a day, and get in regular exercise. In a month, you can be a HEALTHIER 10 pounds lighter. In two months, you can be about 15 pounds lighter.
In 3 months you can be around 20 pounds lighter. If you start now, that is 20 pounds by the holidays. In a healthful way.
Hey-I went from 200 pounds down to about 150 after my first baby, and only a month or so into maintenance I got pregnant AGAIN. Talk about turning right back around and getting back on the fat train again. The second time I ended up at 211, and am working it off again. This time it is going slower-but-I am still working at it.

Sometimes the truth is hard to hear when you want something really bad. Why don't you take that want, and turn it into motivation to do it the right way. I tell you, I like to eat. As far as an easy way out, I would much rather eat 1200-1400 calories a day and exercise than go 2 weeks with no food. THAT would be torture to me. If you don't like to work out-do something enjoyable. Take the baby for a walk in the stroller. Go to the mall with the baby and window shop. You can walk around the mall and get a really good walk in, in a mor enjoyable atmosphere. Find another mother to walk with. You don't have to do aerobics or something that you don't like. Just MOVE.

I really don't agree with the statement that you will be happy to eat healthy and exercise once you reach goal. It may not seem like it now, but maintenance is the HARDEST part of keeping off weight. Anyone can lose 10 pounds with a little work, but how many people keep that 10 pounds off for the rest of their lives? Healthy maintenance of your weight loss requires a lifestyle change. A lifestyle change that includes eating healthy and exercising for the REST of your life.

Hmmmm that sounds like how most everyone feels about themselves when they are over weight and need to lose weight!!!! I feel that way and I know everyone that I have seen trying to lose weight feels that way too. Step into a WW meeting and you will find EVERYONE there feels that way too!

You are killing yourself with this!!! I am sorry but I hear excuse after excuse. Let me tell you... if this was the good way to do... we would ALL be doing it!

Who feels they don't look good?
Who wants to exercise daily?
Who would rather have cake instead of a salad?

I bet we all answered those questions just as you would!!!! That is no excuse to kill ourselves!! Fasting will make you sick either physically or medically!!! And if it does not cause problems right away... it could later down the road!!! Fasting is NOT going to help you lose weight!!! You will gain it all back and then more!!!!

If you did NOT want to except other people's advice why are you asking us for it?? Are you looking for attention? I don't mean to be rude but spear me already! EVERYONE has said the same thing!!! You refuse to hear/see the truth of the whole thing!! Why bother asking if you don't care what anyone says?

From what I have seen, most people on these boards are pretty serious about losing weight! And they want to lose it the healthy way and keep it off. What your saying your going to do could be a fast way to your grave!!! I worry about your child... whom you might end up to sick to take proper care of!!!! And if your alone... what happens then! I don't even want to think of it because it will be sad!

Again, I am not trying to be rude. However, I do mean to be blunt because this really seems like a child searching for attention. We are ALL here to support each other and lose weight and get healthy... and stay healthy!! Please join us in healthy weight loss instead of taking a huge risk of making your self sick or worse!

I ask you this: If you have "no motivation" to eat right and exercise now, what makes you think you can keep up a fast, whether it's 2 weeks or 2 days? Second, if you have no motivation to eat right and exercise now, what makes you think you'll be able to do it when you come off of your fast?

You are very young, and I know it's hard to listen to logic and facts and truth when you just WANT something. But wishing won't make it so. You've heard over and over and over again that what you are thinking about doing WON'T WORK, and in fact will be counter-productive. What WILL work is making a committment to eat right and exercise NOW and for the rest of your life. Chasing after one fad diet then the next will do more to keep you fat than anything else you can do. You are setting yourself up mentally and physically to get on a merry-go-round of a destructive relationship with food. There are lots of people on this site who have finally been successful in fighting a life-long battle with obesity by realizing that starvation and magical thinking aren't the answer. Trust me, you don't suddenly wake up one day after getting to goal weight and find that you're a different person, suddenly "motivated" to do all the right things. A lot of us believed that, that being thin by hook or crook was all that mattered, and the world would be perfect and we'd never have a problem with food or weight or anything else ever again. Wrong, wrong, wrong. It simply doesn't work that way, as much as we'd like to believe it would.

I highly recommend that you go to the Maintainer's forum here and read the "Posts worth reading over and over again" thread. If you want the TRUTH about losing weight and keeping it off, the answers are there. If you want to continue to live in a fantasy land of the Next Magic Weight Loss Cure while getting fatter and fatter over time, go on your fast. Damage your body, start on a path of destructive habits and warped attitudes.

Nope, sweety!! Sure didn't! -- I sometimes go to other boards but my name is different -- darn, eh?! -- wrong again. Anyway -- To those saying you're worried about my child ... obviously you haven't taken in consideration I DON'T live alone and he goes to DAYCARE during the day while I WORK and when he does come home, his daddy is here ALSO -- Like I have said before, I DID have him in mind when I thought this through. And whoever it was that said I can't lose 10lbs in a couple weeks, think again, hun -- I know better than that. A lot of this being said is crap because you want me to take the healthy route -- I know -- but, if you go back, my question wasn't "should I fast" my question was "Is juicy juice okay?"

And as you all say, I'm not being rude .. just very blunt!

Hmmmm, someone needs more then one name on these boards!!??!!??! Tells me this is trouble looking for attention. I will focus on helping someone who really needs and wants it instead.

The original statement was about fasting with juicy juice as stated below!

Copy and pasted for Got2BThin's first post: Is juicy juice okay for a juice fast of 2wks?

And the title of this thread is: FASTING

Go figure!

Stobborn kids that think they know it all! I guess we all were that way once!! But we grew up and learned to listen to our elders because they DID know what was best. You can't talk reason with youngsters today!!! They just won't listen till they figure out in the long wrong how WRONG they were!!! One day they will grow up!

Fast if you want! Your choice... your life... your health! I know I want to live a long and healthy life personally!

This appears to be a joke. I am here to help and get help from and with serious people looking to lose weight in a healthy way and for a lifestyle and not todays fad.

You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink. So if this person wants to harm themselves... so be it!! There loss in the long wrong. One day this person will think back and say to themself... man I should not have been so stupid and I should have taken that advice I was given from SO MANY DIFFERENT people!

Nuff said... serious people need help and support. Therefore, that is where I shall be.

I am just now starting to read this message board again as I need some serious motivation myself. This thread is almost funny. I dont understand why you are being so rude to people that are concerned for your health. If all you have to say to someone that took time out of their day to look out for you is rude crap, maybe you should go else where.

Maybe you should go else where if you have a hard time understand things. I was not being rude, just very blunt... like everyone else. I take it it's okay for you all to be that way, but it's wrong for me? Hmm

I'll say this once. Everyone knock off the attitudes a bit. Relax and calm down, or the thread will have to be closed.
I posted in a calm manner, and everyone else here can as well, while still stating their opinion.

Got2BeThin-3FC is a website for HEALTHY weight loss goals. The members and the administration here support weight loss in a healthful manner-by proper diet and exercise-not fad diets and pills and the like. We plan on staying that way. The members here work really hard to lose weight and keep it off in a healthy manner.
Also, yes, it is possible to lose 10 pounds in two weeks-but doing it in such a drastic way will cause that weight to be water, the cleaning out of your digestive tract, and MUSCLE MASS. Very little will be fat. Losing weight that way will cause the jiggly stuff you want gone to stay around, and the lean, shapely muscle that you want to keep to suffer in the process.
If you are really interested in maintaining a healthy body for life, I also suggest that you visit and read in the Maintainers forum. You have much to learn from them.
Good luck,
Aphil

I'm afraid that's just wishful thinking, and rumors or lies. Remember, you have to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound of fat.

You seem to want us to support you while you starve yourself, but we can't do that in good conscience. Like aphil pointed out, we support healthy weight goals here.

Please don't be in such a rush If you eat healthy foods and exercise, you will feel so much better! You are depressed now, but a healthy diet and exercise program actually treats depression in most people. Plus you'll have so much more energy, and you'll be happier. Aim for a slower weight loss, make smaller goals, and take it one step at a time. We'd really love to support you, but you are going to have to be more responsible about your health.
