As some of you may remember I've been on this forum before talking about my husband's search for a medication that will help him without having side effects that he doesn't like. He was on Paxil, was great on that but there some side effects he didn't like, then he tried Wellbutrin and Mirtazipine which did not work and in between his moods were terrible then he tried Effexor which was working great and the side effects were still there but not quite as bad. Then he got a psych consult through his family dr and this dr tells him he doesn't need to be on anti-depressants and if he has an anger problem he should look into anger management which my husband told the dr right away that he probably wouldn't do. So my husband decided to stop taking his Effexor, he was on a low dose so he didn't have to wean off. He was really po'd on Sunday about doing renos around the house, he was so angry right away that I didn't want to help him because I can't cope being around him when he is so angry. He's been okay since, no other outbursts but the med probably still hasn't completely worn off yet.
I am really po'd with this dr. How can you assess someone for depression when they've been on medication for over a month?? It seems obvious to me that he's not going to have the same signs and symptoms. I'm very frustrated because we are back to square one. I'm hoping that things will be okay but I'm not holding my breath waiting!

). He finally found a Psychiatrist who read his case history, and put him on Prozac. He's been on it ever since; except for a brief period when he tried to wean himself off and all
broke loose! My husband has had counseling to deal with his anger issues, but he also needs to be on his meds. I hope that maybe the Dr. will see the necessity of your DH staying on anti-depressants. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers
