I'm a newbie, but I'm here. Lying around hoping that the heat wave we're having will melt off some of the fat. Too hot to exercise, so that'll have to do it.

I'm really enjoying this site, with all the support and good ideas. And typing is a little like exercising anyway: at least while you're on the computer, you're not eating! (I have plenty more theories where that one came from. lol)

Tomorrow is Canada Day up here, so it will probably rain and thunder as it often does. But everyone will be out in the streets or on Parliament Hill watching. Ottawa ends up being a sea of red and white and maple leaves, which is fun and unusual as Canada is not really a flag-waving sort of country. (Patriotic, but quietly so.)

Any ideas on dealing with the heat in mid-menopause? I'd love to get out and exercise, but it really is unpleasant with all the sweating. I'm not on HRT, and won't be, but do take a herbal red clover supplement that's supposed to help. Aaarrgh!

Hey Everyone... well actually hello Marble, Leenie and Carla Everyone must be super busy!

Today has been a pretty good day. I have been pretty good on the food front, tho I’ve gone over slightly by say 40-127 calories the past few days ( and that’s each day not total hehe). So I am trying to make more on effort to stop eating those few extra calories, although I don’t think they will add much weight on since I have been cutting back 800 calories from what I normally would take in… but murphy’s law! Who knows what those few extra calories will do

I called Cal State about the lap pool to get some information on it’s availability. So far it is looking good that I can use the pool between my classes.

Take care everyone…
Sue…

Hi all...
I'm new here, too, and enjoying this friendly forum.

My two year-old DD and I went swimming again today at the new YMCA. It's the third time we've gone in about a week. We both love it! She's learning to swim, and I'm in constant motion trying to teach her and swimming around the pool with her (she wears floatie pads). I'm sure it's not the same calorie burn as if I was swimming laps or something, but, it's something.... not to mention what it's doing for me mentally. I FEEL good after we go swimming, both physically and mentally. I find that I'm in a much better mood on the days we've been swimming. So, if I can keep alternating that with our walks around the neighborhood, it looks like I will finally have found some exercise that I enjoy.

Hi everyone!
Welcome Carla and Amy.
Congrats to you who are keeping up with the exercise.
Well today was the last day of school here. Yippee!! No more alarms. DD15 will have to take a summer school course for her math, but she won't go to the school so we will be signing her up for the course through the distance education program. My sister went through high school and graduated with the distance education program so I know it works and this is just for a summer school course.
My hubby is due home on tomorrow and actually has the weekend off. I don't know how many days he will have as it is the long weekend here. He's been gone since the morning of the 20th.
My mom gets ownership of the house she bought here tomorrow as well, so I'll have to go to the realitor to pick up her keys. She is still fixing up her house to get it ready to sell and then she will be able to move here. Until she can move we will have to run into town and check on it and keep the grass cut.
Now that school is finished hopefully the girls and I will be able to get out walking more. Our neighbour with the nasty dogs has his place up for sale, so maybe that problem may go away.
Take care all, K
