Lynnie: My son was on Geodon. It caused him to gain weight, but I know that drugs have different effects on people. It did seem to help him.

Cathy: In answer to your question, I fractured my right ankle back in May of last year. Because my right ankle and foot are paralyzed and don't have full sensation, I didn't realize how bad my ankle was until it was in pieces I had surgery to put pins in it back in June. I then developed a wound infection. When the PA saw me for a follow-up, they learned that the ankle had come apart again. They removed the pins and discovered a bone infection (osteomyelitis). I was in the hospital for a grand total of six weeks, and in a cast since September. In that time, my orthopedic surgeon left my care to his assistant (the PA). Since I last spoke to the PA, I have reason to believe that the Ortho never followed up on my progress as he should have. I'm glad I sought a second opinion. This doctor was even honest enough to admit that he didn't feel he had enough experience/training to give me the level of care I need. So he referred me to a specialist. His words to me were, "If it were my mother, I'd do the same thing" OUCH!

I think you should consider suing your ortho for Malpractice because had he been more active in your care It might not have come to this! JERK!!!

Lynnie I was on Paxil it had depressing effects on me and it also when I came off of it It was hard. . . but with the zoloft you will be fine!

Joanne - thanks for explaining. I had forgotten the details! it all sounds very serious girlie! so what happens next? I mean I know your hubby's surgery is on Monday....then what? after you get him up and running then it's your turn? I am praying for ya'll.

About your son - I was wondering? he no longer takes the Geodon? or any meds? (if you don't mind talking about it)

Kier - do you have some sweet soul that brings you your coffee? or do they put sugar in the pot when they make it? what would us gals do without our morning coffee?

Lynnie - when you get on at Walmart, will you be working the night shift? wow that will be fun on your sleeping patterns - but I know you'll work it out. I think Walmart will be a great job! About the Geodon - My son takes a really low dose of Geodon and it has worked really well for him. It is a newer drug and they are using it to treat a lot of different things these days. A lot of people with BDD (that I talked about last week in a post) are using Geodon and doing well. It is not suppose to cause weight gain like similar older drugs do. One I know had gained 25 lbs in a year on Zyprexa, but lost the weight in a couple of months once they switched to Geodon. The Geodon can make you a little sleepy so it is usually best to take at night. What dosage are you on? I'm sure you know this, but you may have some side effects or anxieties coming off the Paxil so just be aware of what is going on.

Cin? you still got dd and your grandchildren staying with you? I'm sure you are one busy lady - with ww meetings on Monday and Tuesday too! how is dh doing? and how are you? missed ya yesterday and the day before! hugs!

Good morning. everyone,

Thank you so much, everyone, for your support about persevering in my desire to feel better. I have been getting pretty discouraged, and it helps so much to have your support. I need to be doing so many things, and I have just been feeling so down and discouraged I have not been doing them. I have been looking for work, and NEED to find a job. It would help us out very much financially and it would help me feel more purposeful and not so alone. But the job market here is horrible. Anyhow, I am rambling. My nurse-practitioner called yesterday to see how I was doing, so I told her and she said she has some ideas. That helped give me some hope that I can feel better. I see her tomorrow. I am anxious to see her and change something so I can start feeling better.

Lynnie, good luck with the medication change. I hope it really helps you feel better. I think it is so great that you got a job. (I have PTSD, too, and I would love to hear what helps you with it. I am still trying to find something that works for me. Let me know how the medication switch goes. )

Joanne, you really are in my thoughts and prayers. That stinks that you had to go through all that! Hang in there.

Kier, thanks for the encouragement. How is the points-counting going? I am doing pretty well with it.

Cathy, thank you so much. I do take notes with me. I hate that it takes so long to see if something is going to help me feel better or not. I am very sensitive to things, like medications, and it is always kind of scarey to try new things. I have had pretty severe reactions to some things. I am glad everything went well for you at the doctor's. Have a great day!

Hiya to everyone....sure is quiet here today....I am busier than a one-legged man in an ***-kicking contest.....

We have constant catering in my buiding..... the drug reps. sponsor every lunchtime, it's like a different buffet in every department!
I'm eating but not over-eating, just eating the wrong things......2 slices of pizza for lunch, but gave away the cookies/brownies and sub sandwich that found it's way into the office to my skinny friend who had no lunch....I simply have no taste for sweets, chocolate....this is a new phenomenem!

I'm sorry to hear about Joanne's ankle, and Kathy I KNOW you will find a way to feel better and find a job you will enjoy...good things will happen when you least expect it.

I realized this morning that I REALLY enjoy the early work-out I've been doing at home. It's efficient, I can wear my crummy bag-lady clothes (Billy or Sharon Mann, Cathy Friedriche don't seem offended by my outfit)...I was dripping sweat and felt good.... I try to add-on to my time every week, last week I was recovering from sinus/cold junk so I did only 3.5 hours....this week I am aiming for 4 hours.....no big fitness prize-winner, but I've been consistent for about 7-8 weeks and see small improvements. It's been slow as I'm still weak from a radial fracture to my left elbow, but I am up to 10 lb. dumbbells.

The only discomfort I found today was going outside at 7AM to walk the dog....it was FREEZING, I thought my ears would snap off....I can't find my ear-warmers, they seem to have disappeared, they will re-appear in July somewhere in the house....

Well I am taking 40mg a day of the Geodon then after the first 4 days its going up to 60 mg.With my coming off the paxil has me alittle worried because I have experienced the anxiety attacks before.But hopefull the medicine I am starting will help with that.
With my job being a overnight job; i think its the best being that I am an extreme night owl.I much rather during the day then at night anyway.
