    xxxx
  • Hello Topsy and of course you may join in !!! I'm so sorry to hear your son is ill now, please don't listen to the voices that are saying it's your fault! of course it isn't! Keep taking your prescribed meds to help your mind. It is a struggle isn't it when you always feel hungry. We hope you join us regularly!
  • Hi Lisa, Pat, and all others!!

My good summer job ended on Sunday, always bittersweet. BUT great news - I finally secured a winter job. It's something totally different, light industrial assembly! they are happy for me to be seasonal and if it works out, I could go back next winter and do it again. My co-worker who quit the awful deli and I were hired on the spot! We have orientation Monday and start Tuesday. It is second shift, 3 pm to 11 pm, so that is different also. BUt the starting wages are good, much better than anywhere else around here, AND ITS 5 MILES FROM HOME That is SO GOOD especially with my leased car and the limited miles, and also with winter coming on (by the way, the snow plow just went by, we have an inch of snow here UGH) AND IT'S MONDAY TO FRIDAY, WEEKENDS OFF!! I haven't had a job with weekends off in almost 20 years!!! Anyway, so glad that my job situation is settled. We get complete training which is good, because it looked very overwhelming to us. We also have to invest in steel toed shoes, but I went to Walmart and they make them that look like sneakers! I got a pair of those, and a pair of over the ankle boots, to switch it up a bit, which is good for my feet.

My other news is big but not good our younger son who is the married one, is having marriage problems, to the point that his wife moved out!!! They have only been married 2 years!! but knew each other for 5 years before that. My heart is hurting so much for our son!!! We love them both and want nothing more than happiness for both of them but of course he came first and I can't help but think it's due to her but I will say nothing like that ever. I am just waiting for him to vent to us. we have let him know we are here for him if he wants to talk, but being a guy that might not happen.

Pat, I didn't bring any plants in because I just don't have the room. I said goodbye to them all in the past week. I got so much pleasure from them and I let them know that Maybe I can bring in the potted parsley plants. And I still have to cook about 6 pumpkins and big squash and process them. We got 6 or 7 butternut squash too and I've been roasting them and just eating with salt and pepper, so good.

Lisa that is so great that such a simple thing as being sure you take your pills correctly, is helping!! How is the kitty doing?I also wish I could spirit you the $ needed to fly to Jennifer.

I finally did a workout this morning, the first since May! it felt good, it was my favorite Leslie Sansone Walking with weights, 3 mile/45 minutes, then some ab work. I've got to get in condition before the serious snow shoveling time begins.

HELLO to everyone else!!! Now that I have time in the morning I will get back to communicating daily!!
  • Hi Topsy. welcome! Sorry it took a while for me to get here and post. Great that you are posting here. Sorry about the meds causing weight issues. Of course that's not unusual. Please do not believe the voices. I promise they lie! I know it's hard not to believe relentless voices. Do you ever hear kind or nice voices? I hope your son is feeling much better now. Btw, very cute kitty in your avatar pic.

Holly, on the new job. Glad your friend and you were hired together. Steel toe sneekers? Who would have known! Yay that the pay is good. I am very sorry you read about your son. So painful. Guys do tend to not talk. But I hope after a while he will speak with at least one of his parents. Re: the snow, it is crazy how we are becoming less temperate. Hotter than normal summer. Then the weather pattern changes in fall to be way colder than average. The national weather service has ammended their projected winter forecast. They didn't expect to see the weather pattern change. And it did. Well, I guess the ski industry will be happy. Summer was way too short. Glad you are enjoying the fruits of your gardening labor. Roasted butternut is SO good. Idk if I would like dealing with big squash and pumpkin. You "process" them in a food processor? Then can or freeze?

hi Lisa and everyone. Has anyone heard from Panda?
Hope everyone has a good thursday.
  • Hi Pat and everyone! Yet it is kinda worrisome that PandaCupcake hasn't checked in for a long time!

Pat, yes I cut up the pumpkin and scrape out the seeds (and save some for planting, and roast and eat the rest) cut it into manageable pieces, roast in the oven til soft, then puree the flesh in my small food processor. Same with the squash, though I've been eating the squash right after roasting. Yesterday I cut up a butternut squash into cubes, tossed with some canola oil, then thought to add a chopped up carrot and a cut up onion too. Wow I love roasted veggies!! and it heats up the house a little too

We had another dreary, gray, spitting-snow day here ! ugh! I expect this weather in late November. A friend is leaving for Florida next week, she is moving there. She has had enough of Maine and Vermont winters! I am kinda jealous!

This morning when I should have done another workout, I got involved instead with a cleaning up project, I wanted to do a dump run and filled up the car. 2 scanner/copiers, 2 old pillows, 1 old comforter, a bag of shredded paper, 2 tires, 1 old canopy covering, 1 bag of clothes. That is barely a molecular fraction of stuff here but at least it got out of the house/garage.
  • Hi ladies,

How is everyone? I hope you all are good.

    Holly,
I hope you love your new job. It'll probably take some adjustment for a factory job but I really hope you thrive there.
5 miles to your new job is awesome and working second will give you time to shovel and get your car out when it snows.

I'LL be so happy to see you post more too.
  • PS. Holly,
That's ok about you wanting to help me fly home for the holidays. It'll be tough, really tough not to see Jennifer at Christmas. I'll just make the best of a bad situation.

I have been separating my daily pills and I'm still doing good. I feel good mentally. I have days where I'm kinda like meh but I do think that is normal.
  • Hey flower!! So glad to see you posting.

I'm still going to church. Every week, I actually look forward to going. Nice people, don't all get up in my business but I get lots of hellos every Sunday. I don't like a lot of attention but smiles and hellos are nice.

I'm helping out at a bazaar tomorrow morning. I want to help the church ladies put on a nice bazzarre and make some money.

I'm buying a used couch from a lady. I saw this couch a couple months ago and told the lady that I loved it. She contacted me on Facebook 2 days ago asking me if I wanted to buy it. I'll take pics when I get it. It's a really cool looking couch.

Sorry I've blown up the thread. I hope you all are having a great Oct.

You know me so well Lisa!! those are 2 huge bonuses for me!! and I hope so much to thrive there also, I do well with 'attention to detail' and I am deliriously happy at the thought of not having to deal with the public!! and I'm already posting more, yay!

That's cool that you're helping out with the bazaar I'm sure the church ladies will appreciate the help so much. LOL at them being *just* friendly enuf and not getting all up in your business

yay at getting a couch that you love! will the seller assist in getting it to you?

and I love it when anyone posts more than a sentence or two here!

I hear ya about the 'meh' feelings. I guess 'meh' is on the light end of depressive thoughts, and that end is better than the darker end!!

I hope everyone is having a good day. I am enjoying all these days off so much, tho I wish the weather would have been better each day. Today was kinda frigid and it just barely warmed up to 39 outside but the sun is shining and the sky is a beautiful, brilliant blue! I spent a couple hours raking leaves which is like outdoor vacuuming makes it look so much better. We left a couple pumpkins outside, and something has been chewing on them at night, I am glad the pumpkins are feeding someone!
  • Holly I too would eat what veggies I roasted. They sound great. I do not eat pumpkins, but they are a lovely gourd.

Re your friend moving to florida, I get snowbird envy, lol but I would NOT want to live in FL year round. I need season changes. And I would enjoy one month of winter I have lived in VT for 43 years. Winters are increasingly annoying me. I am a wuss driving in snow. They say snow in the mountains Saturday. Maybe a bit of snow in the valley Sat AM. I am sure nothing will stick here. CONGRATS on clearing all that stuff from your home. I took some stuff to goodwill today. But not nearly enough.
When does your new job start? I am hoping it will be a nice break from baking. And that the folks working there are nice. IDK why but I got a good feeling about it when you wrote. AND you can kick *$$ with those new steel toe sneakers if anyone gives you 'tude Might want to use those new shoes on the old boss Okay, well maybe not

Lisa, I get to see your beautiful lovely face So gad you put up the picture in your avatar. Its always good to really see people. So happy that you now have a church community. I bet after the Bazaar you will be more bonded with some of the women. oh wow, re: the sofa. Is this a woman you know from the church? How fortunate. You seem to in recent months have things coming together for you in a great way. Things coming to you when you need them Sounds like you have some angels watching out for you
You didnt "blow up the thread". Its always good to read your words <3

Today I got in the mail a 5 dollar off 15 dollar coupon at the new Target store that opened near me. So at 8:15 at night I went there. I figured it would not be too crowded at that hour. I needed a wool knit hat. They didnt have any in the store. They seemed out of many things. All in all, it was an odd experience. I think they will get the kinks out during the next few months. I got chicken breast. So I do not have to go to Costco this weekend.

I finally got up the nerve to weigh myself. It could have been worse, but it could be better. I would like to drop about 3 lbs. But IDK if thats going to happen. I PB puffs and vegan cheese puffs calm my nerves. Beginning 10 days ago I pretty much have cut out Chocolate as I had to fairly radically reduce my food budget. No more fruit, chocolate and some other things. Although yesterday I did have a 1 dollar kind bar. Its all okay if reducing the food budget helps pay those bills. Including now having to pay out of pocket for chiropractic care which is not optional.

Hoping you both... and all have a great Saturday
  • wow I have lost track of days!

Lisa it is so nice to see you in your avatar! beautiful pic We hope the bazaar went well on Saturday. Was that a Christmas bazaar already?

Pat oooh the first Target store in Vermont! cool that you got to visit..but boo to it being maybe 'not ready for the public yet'. I hope you're able to deal with your newly resolved budget restrictions there are lots of worries in the world and its such a shame when money for basics has to be one of those worries! LOL at the thought of me using my steel toed shoes as weapons of retaliation

    HI to everyone else!!

I start the new job in 2 1/2 hours from now! I had Orientation yesterday, and boy it seems overwhelming but I guess it is to anyone. I will just try to pay attention and do my best. Someone is assigned to me and I 'shadow' them, without getting in their way. It's a production line so time matters! Seconds matter! a rowing machine is completely assembled VERY quickly. If I think about it too much my stomach will get all churny. 58 years old and I get jitters like this!

I have been doing a workout though each morning, at least 30 minutes, mostly weighted cardio.

    Hope to hear from everyone!

  • Holly Amazing that you are doing 30 minutes of cardio. I bow in admiration! I am rooting for you with the new job. That the. Learning curve will be one that you easily master. And that you find list if benefits to the job as the day's progress.
Peg kind management and enjoyable with whom to work.

    Lisa how are you?

Topsy81 hoping you are having a good day. You still are welcome to be part of this very kind supportive community

today i bring my car in for state inspection and general maintence. Trying to get enough things to amuse me while I am there. I am sensitive to spaces. The Toyota place is not one where I feel comfortable. I loved the Honda place. I had hondas for 27 years. I don't think my Honda place would want to assist me with the Toyota I got last December.

Ohhhh I forgot. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! To the child in each of us.
Gratitude for each of you, Pat
  • Hello friends! Happy Halloween We used to decorate the yard like crazy for Halloween, since the boys are grown not so much, tho my husband would love to have skeletons out there all year, lol.

Pat I wish that the Toyota space was more serene for you! hope everything is taken care of quickly.

    HI to everyone else!!!

My first shift last night went okay. Only had one moment of frustration at myself for not 'getting' a certain way of packing an item. but my 'mentor' was very patient, encouraging and laid back. Hope i am paired with a similar kind person tonight!

I am very glad I have had 30 years' experience of standing while working. Otherwise I would be HURTING today. Concrete floor, heavy steel toed boots, but I don't ache, due to being 'used to it'. yay for that.

Still mystified at the logging in/out part of each workstation and that there is a line of people behind me waiting each time, frustration at not being familiar with it yet. Little problems

Had a neighborhood lady today, tell me that she enjoyed our yard/flowers so much this summer. And this is from just driving by, what a nice compliment Looking forward to next year already!!!

wishing a wonderful day/night to you all
  • Holly. How did your second day of orientation go? This is a completely new thing for you. So it makes sense that you will need time to adjust. I hope you were able to get through today's orientation without too much frustration.
Not surprised to read that the neighbor enjoyed your garden. It sounded awesome!
