Default Extremely depressed the more I lose weight

The more I lose weight the more dissatisfied with my body I become. When I get happy that I'm losing weight I get on the internet and read discouraging comments. Apparently not even this weight loss is enough. I just want to stop eating completely and I hate my body.

I'm losing fat on my buttocks and developing a what is called a thigh gap. It's ugly and I'm embarrassed about it.

But my stomach/waist is even uglier.. *sigh*

Who is making discouraging comments?

Why would you listen to negative stuff?

If you are worried about NO butt. Squats, lunges and deadlift. You will get an awesome booty!

The thigh gap, well, it's better than chub rub.

The stomach and waist, you did not elaborate enough for me to comment.

I'll never look like Cindy Crawford, I'm to damn short. (deep sigh). For a girl, I have LONG arms, that are muscular, and I have BIG BOOBS, and NO BUTT!

I also had twins that weighed over 6 pounds each! That's an ab, bikini killer!

Here's the thing, this is the body I have, it's up to me, to make the best of it! I have not a picture perfect, photo shopped body, but dang, I can rock the house. I'm strong, and I can dress up and look dang good! And I'm 55 and have 4 grandkids!

Take some time, and look at the positives! I know this is hard. But practice makes progress!

This is going to sound weird, but, once a day, stand in front of a mirror, and tell yourself one thing you LOVE about you. I don't care if you have to make it up. Just do it! It does work!

Maybe you have body dysmorphic disorder? I'd recommend you see a therapist.

Also, nobody has a perfect body and being thin is no cure for life's ills.

Maybe try volunteering. Anything to get you outside of yourself.

Spend some time celebrating the qualities about yourself that have Nothing to do with the way you look.

The issue isn't your weight; its your depression. It is distorting your perception.

Change your thoughts, change your world.

Yes, thank you for bringing this into light for me. I realize it is my preoccupation with physical beauty instead of spiritual is what's killing me, I was more happier when my pride was because of the prowess of my mind and heart even though I was always depressed.

I had the same problem for so long. No matter when I was heavier or when I lost weight, I criticized especially because the number was "not" right. I was so preoccupied with that scale number that I thought I just needed to be the number that the doctor said or what people thought was thin. It really eats at you and causes more problems. I completely promote more weight training over cardio because you begin to define your body in a way that cardio will never do. As shcirerf said about squats and lunges, they help immensely. I even use weights to improve my waist since crunches and sit-ups don't work on its own. When you finally resist that annoying voice in your head and push foward, you'll be able to see a difference in how much you won't tear yourself apart. It becomes less and less. It will get better. Just keep working on it, you're doing great. I hope you all the best
