  • Morning all - Emmy! I'm tired today, too - have to be sure to plan my meals so that I don't grab rubbish out of tiredness!

Hope - very glad to see you - missing you, chick!

Sassy - interesting link from Glamour - thanks for that! And 'deep fried pizza'?? Oh my gosh - that makes me feel a little bit sick... and a little bit !

Buddly - I wish I could say what changed (this time) with certainty... it sure was hard to see a light while I was busy binging. To be absolutely honest, I suspect it was a combination of monthly hormones evening out again (after a bad month, maybe?) AND the of weighing 11 pounds more when I got back from holiday than when I went - in only a few days! Seriously, up until then, through January and early February, I'd binge, gain three pounds, get it off in a week or so, binge again and so on... but ELEVEN pounds? It was a bit of a wake-up call; I suddenly knew I had to choose to either a) eat whatever I want and gain weight, b) eat some of whatever I want and maintain THIS weight, or c) get my butt in gear and start doing what I HAD been doing for ten months to lose the weight so far, in order to continue to lose. I really am taking it one day at a time, with no real mini-goals in mind, in case I don't make them. That being said, I am hoping to be out of the 170's by the end of March... but if I don't make it, I'll still have eaten well, exercised and lost something. Hang in there, chick - the click is coming!!

Amarie - so sorry to hear about your coworker. Have a great trip!! Good luck at the buffets - !

All for me today - have some errands to do, and a friend to visit in hospital, so I think I'll move my butt and see if I can get three miles in before I go out. Have a great day, everyone!!

    Heather
  • Well friends, I survived day one of my trip! I got VERY motion sick in the cab from the airport, thank goodness I hadn't eaten much! I did really well at my first of two receptions - only ate 1 hors douvre and a half a glass of wine. Once it was over I took myself out for sushi and made really good choices!

Today at breakfast, my choices we're pastries, fried potatoes, eggs, and sausage, as well as cereal and fruit. I had fruit and eggs, and one sausage - holy cow, the sausage almost made me choke, it was so greasy. Anywho, hopefully lunch will go as well, then I'm gonna get my run in before my next meeting.

Hi Emmy - good to see you again.

Sounds like we're all tired today! There was a raucus party on my floor last night - a bunch of us called down to the front desk and security shut it down. Still, really messed up my sleep.

Hugs all! Happy Friday Sassy girl!
  • Hi gang,

As you all know, I'm struggling to post this week. If I don't feel too bad physically, it's a mental thing. Some of the reasons besides being sick:

After taking my car into the repair shop this week I found out that there is some sort of leak that would be too expensive to find and fix. It would be more than the car is worth and I shouldn't drive it on a long trip. I had planned to go home to see my mom this next week (6hrs away) since she has some time off, then this comes up.

That stressed me out even more b/c I was waiting till I got a job to look for a new vehicle. Obviously, a bank doesn't want to finance somebody who is unemployed. DF only has his work truck, so we mostly use mine all the time. He had also freaked out a little this week over our $$ situation since his major contact for work had passed away earlier this year. I felt terrible since he has been not only paying the regular bills, but helping me with mine for the last few months. I have never felt like such a leech before and just hopeless.

Well, long story longer...He had a talk with the guy who passed away's boss and looks like things may still work out there as far as using him for construction work. Also, we ended up getting a great used car today for a decent payment that I hope to take over one day. The company will also buy my car for more than I thought they would, so I will be selling it to them shortly.

As usual, I put my negative spin on things and look at it like... In a few days I will be unemployed with NOTHING to my name. I won't even own a car. The new one is in his name of course, since I can't qualify for a loan right now. I don't own a house or even have an apartment. The house is my fiance's that he pays for. (Actually, I did get my name put on the title, in case something were to happen to him and we aren't married yet.) I'm worse than useless, I'm a liability for gosh sakes.

I really should probably keep this stuff to myself, but it feels better to get it off my chest sometimes. Thanks again for listening to my rambling.

Amarie: You should pick up some Dramamine before your trip home. I get terrible motion sickness from cars, flying, roller coasters, you name it and that stuff works! Good job on the eating!! I always stuck with the cereal, fruit, and yogurt on the catered breakfast buffets, and sometimes eggs and toast. What diet plan are you following? I was going to suggest taking some nuts to snack on for protein (just so high in calories though).

Buddly: Could you just mail me the snow? I can't drive my old 4-wheel drive up there to get it! I would love to see the pictures.

Heather: So glad you are still feeling 'in control'. It's definitely one day at a time. Last night I had a cheeseburger and fries for the first time this year. I thought I'd be sick but it was great. I don't feel too bad because when I was sick I was under my calories a day or two. I just haven't been able to exercise. Today is the first day I really feel like I could, I just haven't had time yet.

    Hi emmyroo!

How you feelin Sassy? Did the nyquil work?
  • TGIF TGIF TGIF
  • Happy Friday one and all!

I get to go home today!! This has been a really great opportunity to test how I can do "in the real world", and I'm really proud of myself!

Last night I had a business dinner, a bunch of us went out for, of all things Sushi (2 nights in a row)! It worked out great for me, though, because I was again able to make healthy choices. The place was packed, and it took a while for us to get a table. Needless to say by the time we were seated everyone else in the party had already had a few and were lettin loose and having a blast. I was good, though. I just drank water and had some Nummy nigiri - no fried stuff for me!

Anyway, I can't quite explain it, but this is just sooo different than how I used to eat when I travel. In the past, I rarely left my room when I wasn't in meetings, and almost always got room service. For some reason I feel silly ordering one thing from room service, so I usually would get WAY too much food, and then of course eat it all. This time, though, I never once had room service, and I used the gym twice! They had free apples in there, so I even got a healthy snack out of the deal.

Its really beautiful here, and it was nice to visit, but I find myself looking forward to getting home and doing laundry in my new washer/dryer. Yep ladies, I'm officially boring!

Hope - thanks for thinking of nuts! I usually eat at least a serving of almonds a day, so that would be a great option! I'd just have to watch my other calories, but since the worst I did was 100 over in a day, I bet I could manage. I am not on any particular plan, per se. My doc has me counting calories and has given me a budget of 1400 a day. We recently added a floor to my budget because some days I would forget to eat enough. Seriously, me? Forget to eat I am sorry that you had such a rough week. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Relatonships are about more than money. I know you love and support your DF in other ways, and the financial stuff is just temporary. Don't beat yourself up - I know first hand that just makes making progress harder.

One more thing I noticed this week - I was surprised with how much food I put on my plate at the buffet. At home I use salad plates for all my meals, and am glad I do!

    Have a great day all!

    See you this weekend!
  • Good Morning,

I finally got to read up and can do personals.

Hope I'm so sorry these past few week have been so difficult. I think its great you are posting and sharing so that we can all pray with and for you. Is there a church you go to where you can lean on for physically strength and support.... meaning hugs and prayers. Also sweetie... please do not be so negative with yourself... the more you put those negative thoughts in your head, the more your heart will feel it and believe it. Step away from it and try to think positive. You are a beautiful person who deserves to be happy..... just remember that. If you feel others don't love you its because you need to love yourself first. Self Worth is the most important thing in one's life... (well besides the Lord IMHO) Keep telling yourself you are good...and your heart will be lighter..... then there will be no stopping you

Snoopy its good to see ya girlie....how is the little bambino? how are you doing?

Amarie, thats so sad to hear about your co-worker. The news yesterday was that Patrick Swayze has that sort of cancer too...sad very sad. I'm so proud of you for eating better while traveling....boy I know its so hard to do but not impossible. Its hard to be in the hotel when they are serving a buffet of sausages and bacon along side of the fruit and yogurt. Where did you travel to?

Sassy chick, hope you and DH feel better

Buddly.... some times I post my pictures in Photobucket first and then link them in a post...much easier then trying to resize them a bazillion times...I get to frustrated when that happens.

Heather Heather Bo Beather so what?? this is like your 10, 11th day of clean eating..YOU GO GIRL !!! Its so hard to get back on track but you did it!! YEAH YOU !! 3 miles LOLOL

Emmy.... hope you can come back and chat with us.

    Good Morning
Nothing much is new here, same old really. We are expecting LOTs of rain today, flooding etc...I'm just glad its not snow....but then if it were snow we prob wouldn't have the flooding DD has a birthday party today at a salon and bakery.... never been to a place like that. Makes me wonder if they serve hairy donuts to the kids ?? heheheheeee

I can't believe Easter is only a few weeks away.... I gotta start prepping for it NOW or I'll go nuts when the time is here and I have nothing done (like cleaning etc.).

Thats about it for me.... how is everyone this weekend????

    .
  • Happy Saturday - although I am snowed in completely!

Leenie - GREAT to see a nice long post from you - must mean you caught your breath there!

Well, yesterday I met my mum, dad and niece for lunch, had a nice salad.. then dessert... then finished my niece's dessert... then had a piece of cheesecake at my mums, then tea and cookies that I lost count of... went out for sushi for dinner... and then came home and hubby made me 2am pancakes!

Ah well. Big deal. Moving forward on this means NOT beating myself up about it. Today is, Day One. There might be lots of Day One's... but that's SO much better than NO starting overs!!

Have a great weekend, my lovelies!

    Heather
  • Hola Chicarinos!!!
    Hola Chicarinos!!!

Well I survived our "Big Winter Storm" We got I guess about 8-10 inches or so.........which for here I suppose is "A lot" They totally freak out over an inch. Anywho, it was pretty bad as the wind was blowing and it caused drifting. So DH stayed at a hotel this morning after work, work paid for it. Hopefully he can come home in the morning though.

My mom emailed me and she is going to stay at work tonight, so that is good, don't have to worry about her.

Oh and MIL's cat took a turn for the worse, so they did end up putting her down anyways. Poor little thing I guess was having Seizures and just doing terrible towards the end. So now she is in peace. Now it will be totally weird going to the in-laws and there is no pets what-so-ever. They've always had animals since I've known them. DH said he can NEVER remember them without a pet. MIL said she actually was doing good during the whole procedure of putting the cat asleep. I was that way too. I totally broke down when I had to finally pick up Puddy's bowl and wash it and put it away.

So I haven't been doing much. Just been watching tv or movies, nothing more to do here since um the whole city is basically shut down.

I will come back later and do the indies.......Just wanted to let everybody know that I am still alive!!!

    Take Care all!!!

  • Hi ladies!

Leenie - awesome post, sweetie! It is so nice to hear about what's going on for you - I really appreciate you taking the time, I know how busy you are! I was in sunny Pheonix the last couple days :sun: I heard about Patrick Swayze, too. It is so sad - I really hate cancer. Maybe its my age, but it seems to be everywhere all of a sudden.

Sassy - well, even to me here in the frozen north 10 inches of snow at one time would be a lot! Ironically, its spring here. Hahaha. Crocus and everything. Oooh, movie nights (or day)

Heather - good for you picking up and starting anew. I'd rather have a million day ones than a lifetime of being ruled by food.

Nothing much happening here... Went out to Fuddruckers for lunch with my sis. Did you know they have "sliders" mini burgers with 1.5 oz cooked weight burger, cheese, and a small bun (also 1.5 oz). An order has 2 - I ate one and brought the other home to measure and weigh. Well, then I ate it! . I ordered no butter on the bun, and by the time I added extra cals for possible wayward oil I counted about 300-340 cal each. Not bad for a special treat! Oh, and I made myself a salad from the condiment bar to go with it!

I have been doing laundry today - LOVE my new washer. My clothes and sheets are so clean! Anyway, back to it I guess.

    have a great day all!
  • Hi girls,

I wanted to stop in and let you all know that I'll be going to my mom's tomorrow for about a week and won't have access to a computer. I'll miss you all a lot. I appreciate all the good advice and kind words. Funny how I've never met any of you, but I care for you all and rely on your support.
I hope you all have a great week.

Leenie: How true your words. Thank you and you are right, I do need to find a church I enjoy here. I've been to a couple but haven't found the fit. I grew up going to church and I miss it.

Heather: Tomorrow will be a Day One for me! Can you say lasagna, brownies, and mexican all in one day? I have to admit that going to my mom's kind of scares me, but whatever happens, good or bad, it's not the end of the world and I will get back OP!

Buddly, Sassy, Amarie, Snoopy, Emmy, Cathy and everybody:
  • Good Morning all you snow bunnies

Heather, I agree, I'd rather have many start-a-news then none Its great your parents live close to you. I know every time I visit my mom (she's close to me too) the first things out of her mouth are ... you hungry? LOL

Hope have a good visit with your Mom...we will miss you. I agree, I've never seen any of your faces yet I feel I can come here and not get judged by my words.... you are all great !!! I know how you feel about a church. I have a church but its old in its ways...been looking for a new one for a long time.

Amarie what part of the US do you come from? we have fudruckers here in jersey too. The kids love going there because they have a mini arcade in it. Since you love doing laundry how about coming over and folding my mountain of laundry I have in my bedroom lol. ... jk.

Sassy sorry about MIL's kitty I'm glad your dh stayed in a hotel rather then risk driving home in that snow. You know we just missed all that snow, got lots of rain instead. I'm sure some areas here even got flooding. My DH will go to his shop today to see if it flooded or not. We live near a river and the police called to warn us about the flooding they were expecting....but I don't think we got nearly as much as they anticipated...thank God !!

    Happy Sunday

Today I'll be cleaning up a bit, got mounds of laundry to fold and put away and I need to get my DD some sneakers so off to target we will go. Its a beautiful sunny day so far..hope it doesn't change.

Have a blessed week everyone your all so very special to me.

    Leenie
  • Bye everybody! I forgot to set my clock forward so I'm leaving later that I wanted. Oh well.

    Have a great week!
  • Bye Hope! I'll miss you, and hope you have a fabulous visit with your mum!

Leenie - I'm in the inland northwest - a couple hours from Spokane. I'd be happy to come fold with you, but by the time I hot-footed it all the way to Jersey I'd be late to work!!

I miss our Cathy! I hope she is having a blast in Maui!

Heather, Sassy, Buddly and all - how is the world with you today?

    Have a splendid day all
  • Hello all!

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.

Yesterday was ddC's 16th birthday. Because she likes Batman we are now watching the campy 60's movie of Batman and Robin that we picked up for her. I was wondering if I had a daughter yesterday as most of the icing I was making was dark grey or black (Batman and Robin on a building cake) and the wrapping paper was the green camo. She doesn't like pink and girly so she was really happy.

We have had beautiful weather and the snow has been melting. But of course its cloudy and snowy today at least the snow isn't sticking.
We've had an exciting day of a dump and recycling run and now that giant pile of laundry!

Leenie Good to see you! Enjoy your Sunday. And re posting pictures I am using the photobucket for resizing plus I was following the tutorial in the FAQ's that is why I have no idea why it wouldn't work. I'll try again later.

Amarie congrats on doing so well on your trip. Ah a new washer, how nice. Ours is making a funny noise ever so often, I told hubby that he may be taking it apart and fixing something soon. Right now he has the kitchen tap apart as our water pressure has been subpar in the kitchen sink. I get nervous when he starts turning of main water lines

Sassy sorry about your mil's cat. That is such a hard decision to make, but sadly its usually unavoidable. I hope you are enjoying your "movie" day.

Hope, have a great trip and visit with your mom. Keep safe.

Heather how are you enjoying all the snow? I've been hearing on the news how its still very much winter out east. Congrats on just keeping on! I keep telling myself "I'll start tomorrow" and of course tomorrow never gets here, I have to adopt the plan "I start now!" Maybe it is that simple?

Well I should get going the laundry isn't going to fold itself, I know as I've waited for it to do that before with no such luck

Take care everyone and have a wonderful restful day!

It has been along time, feels like coming home.
