Wink Weekly Chat - Feb. 11th - 17th

Hey Gurls.

I started the new thread since it is technically Monday, the 11th.......lol.

What a very very cold night/morning whatever it is!!! Its only 11 degrees here and they say with the windchill it feels more like 3 degrees!!! Schools were closing already at 11 pm!!! And our heat is acting up again. I don't know if its because it is so cold or what, but I am definitely going to have DH call the apt. office in the morning. I have the emergency heat on now.

Just had a conversation with DH on the phone about losing weight, seriously this time.........and he's all for it. Not sure how he wants to do it, Calorie Counting, WW's, or what, but he said he'd do it along with me.

I have a goal now, its kind of a high one too. Not sure if its even doable. See what you ladies think. I want to lose 100 lbs by the end of September, on our 10 yr Anniversary. Do you think it is possible if I really really really get serious? Be honest, I know I haven't done well at all in the past, but I am serious now. I think it was my last adventure with my back that did it. I am not doing it now for looks, I am doing it for my health and to live longer. I don't want to end up in a wheelchair in my 30's if I can help it.

So that is my plan. DH does the grocery shopping so he said he will stop buying the crap. He said we can have 1 small treat a week. I wanted 1 meal a week, but he said one treat is better..........So we'll have to work out the details.

I just feel awful that I have done this to myself. It totally disgusts me. I feel like a drug addict, only with food. There is an article in one of my magazines about emotional eating and it says that you need to discover why it is you eat emotionally so you can move on and deal with it in a different way. I haven't read it all completely yet, but that is the gist of it. I agree. I think, no I know my eating started out of boredom. I won't go into all the details, but I know that is where it all began, when I was a kid and I think I still do it to this day and its gotta stop.

I can substitute it for exercise or something else. Maybe take a class or something.

Anywho, that is that.

Oh DH said going into work tonight he saw our boss pulled over by a cop in the parking lot next to our co. Come to find out he was in a car accident (he is ok) and it MAY be his fault, we aren't 100% sure on that part yet.

Well that is about all for me.

I hope you all are doing well!!

Morning!

Sassy - what a great start to the new week, with a new plan with your hubby - good for you - for both of you! Do I think you can lose 100lbs? ABSOLUTELY! Can you do it by September? Weeeellll... then it becomes a little more complicated... that's seven months. Having struggled in the past, are you going to be dismayed and frustrated when you don't lose 10lbs (or more!) every month? Why set that deadline? Why set a numerical deadline at all? Do your best, and aim to weigh LESS in September than you weigh now. Look at it this way - that time is going to pass whether you lose the weight or not - and if you lose, say, FIFTY pounds by September - well, that's awesome, right? That's a huge amount of weight, too! And you'll feel better, and look better... and even better if it is more!! See what I mean? Be very careful of the 'magic numbers' of dates and weights - we are prone to depression, aren't we, and that makes some days easier than others, and sometimes makes NOT reaching our 'goals' seem like it's just not worth it, so why bother? THAT'S what we want to avoid, right?? You CAN do this - trust me!

Not much new here, chicks; it's Monday, and VERY cold... -20 this morning! Glad I have a treadmill and don't have to run outside!! I am feeling a little bit better, but oh boy, I can't wait until the weather turns and I can walk outside with the dog in the sunshine - that always helps!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Monday!

Heather

I decided i needed to start posting here again. I have been struggling with finding the right meds for me. Sometimes i want to give up and think maybe there isnt one for me but i know that is the depression talking. I looked at myself in the mirror last night and said " I know i can do this because i have done it before" I deal with emotional eating because any emotion i can't handle i start eating.

Sassy - I definately think you can lose the weight but there are studies that say losing to fast is more likely to come back. You lose at the safe rate of
1-2 pounds a week and it is more likely to stay off. Just My opinion. Everyone has there own way.

Heather - I to can't wait for the warm weather and the sunshine.

Hi ladies!!

Cherry - Nice to meet you! I'm sorry you are having a hard time with your meds.

Heather - I thought of you and your play this weekend - I was wandering around my house belting out 'How Could I ever Know,' Lily's song from the Secret Garden. I'm sure I looked silly as anything, and lord knows what the people walking by my house thought! WTG with the running! I am determined - I will start C25K on March 1. So that means I need to get some more weight off before then to be kind to my old knees!

Sassy - I was trying to decide what I wanted to say, and then I read Heather's post, and well... just go back and read hers again! She said everything I wanted to and more, and much more eloquently than I can. I abso-positively believe you can lose the weight, but 100 lb in 7 months is a very big goal. Remember, love, this is about the longrun. And think how cool it will be to hit the -100 lb mark no matter when! Don't let yourself get all self-doubting about what happened last time. Remember, all those times before were just practice for getting it right!

Leenie Thank you.

Cathy - 4 miles rocks my friend!!! WTG

Hope and everyone else, I hope you are having a glorious day!

I had a fun weekend - studied a lot, and went to a silent auction with a friend where I drank WAY too much wine. I burned a lot of calories on drinks and hors-d'ouvers. Oh well, it was a blast. I also cleaned my bathroom. I mean CLEAN - I have one of those steam cleaner thingies, and man does it work! Haha - it was a "blast" too!

I spent pretty much the rest of the weekend dreaming about crush-boy! Gosh I feel silly.

On a more sobering note - I had to take my sweet older dog into the vet this morning for a check up - she had a new growth on her leg that I didn't like. Unfortunately the vet didn't like it either, so she had to stay there for a biopsy. Ugh. I hate it when I have to leave one of my girls there and I'm not prepared, it just shakes me. But I am confident she will be OK, and am glad she has such a good vet to take care of her.

Alright all, I'm off - Sending out wishes for a great day and no hunger pangs!

Happy Monday???

Well the start of another week, nothing planned. It snowed all weekend and we are under a heavy snowfall advisory I spent almost two hours on the roof on fri trying to get rid of some of the snow as the water was coming in under the shingles from the ice dams. Then we got really cold, but now they are callling for rain and warmer temps. I wish it would make up its mind out there
Leenie, my hair was one lenghth and past my bra strap, its now up at my shoulders with layers. I use natural instincts as I'm to lazy to deal with roots, but I've been leaning towards the darker browns which go black and the colour was staying in the longer hair and looking really phony. This month my "narural" colour will be "cinnamon stick"-- whenever I find the time to put it in, until then its dark brown with silver highlights

Amarie I'm sorry to hear about your "pup" I hope everything turns out alright. Thankfully our Max is only 6 and hasn't had any problems yet. We had to give him a hair cut this weekend as his fur was so thick and matted and he stunk as he wasn't drying out after playing in the snow. I hate doing it with the cold, but he lives in the house and has a t-shirt and booties when he needs them.

Cherry don't give up Every day is a new day. I have no advice, but I sure find that it helps a lot to come here and its so encouraging to know others who are like me have had success!

Heather congrats on the run! My exercise today will be to move snow! And since ddC has judo tonight and ddA has school tomorrow I can't forget all about it like the treadmill Glad you are feeling better!

Sassy good luck on the new plan. I'm sure you will find success, especially since its both you and your husband working together. Its not so lonely that way, plus its built in support! My hubby has never had a weight problem and only one of my girls has issues so its really easy to backslide in this house. I hope your heat gets fixed soon. Thats one good thing about renting, when there is a problem its just a phone call to the owner/super, but on the other hand you never know when things are going to get done! Right now my mom can hear water running in her pipes in the basement, thankfully there isn't any water pooling anywhere and since all the pipes are exposed we can see there aren't any leaks or condensation on the pipes in her house, but she is afraid to call the city as she is worried there may be a broken water main on her property and it be her expense to fix. So she is going with the theory that she doesn't have a problem and its only been two weeks....? I'll keep you posted if her house falls into a sinkhole!!

A big and Hello to Cathy, Hope, Leenie, Raven, Joanne, Liz and everyone else! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Take care all,
K

Wink Hey Chicks.

Hi Ladies.

Well the Winter Storm is on her way!!! I hope I don't get stuck here!!! (work) DH said he'd come and pick me up (he drove me in) They are putting people up in hotels, but I cannot sleep in strange beds and with me working 13/14 hour shifts, sleep is a necessaity!!! But if I have too, I guess I have too.

News on our Boss and his car: He SAYS that it was the other person's fault. I don't buy it though. Where the accident occured, he had to stop, there is a stop sign there and the cross traffic does not have to stop. So I don't see how it was her fault. Plus he said it was on his front left side, so there is no way that could have happened from the other direction, she had to be coming down the st. that does not have to stop. So I say it had to be his fault and he just doesn't want to "fess up" to it. He says that he has major damage and his car is like his "baby", its a BMW, so its going to be very pricey to get fixed. So we'll have to see.......Of course he asked me about my FMLA papers, told him, the dr. still has the papers, he has been very busy with this major flu outbreak or whatever it is.

ALL -- Since you all basically said the exact same thing, I'm doing an all post--I know it would difficult and all, but I just really really want to lose it by then as it will be our 10 yr Wedding Anniversary, that is why the date. I guess what I can do is set my goal for 50 and if I happen to lose more (which I hope!!!) then that will just be a +. You know what makes me sick though? How easy a lot of men have with losing weight. There was this guy on a food tv show, about this Salad place, he said since he began eating lunch there, he has lost 25 lbs in 25 days!!! I am like holy moly!! It would take me an eternity to lose that much!!! lol. I may have "youth" on my side (as some have mentioned) but I have a lot of obstacles too that keeps me from losing. I have an EXTREMELY hard time losing, I always have. If I want to lose anything I can't eat hardly anything and I have to exercise almost 24/7. Not saying that is an excuse, just my body does not want to give up the fat!!! lol. It is very stingy. lol. So I will just strive to do my best. I have lost 50 lbs in 3 months before but that was waaaay back when I was 18, young, firm and able to move a lot easier!!!! lol. So I guess 50 in 7 months probably will be about right........... I am such a dope for not getting serious before and letting myself "rush" to the last minute.........(that is how it feels)

There is another reason too for the weightloss in a hurry. I will be 34 in Sept. and we want a child and I need to lose weight to have a healthier pregnancy and I want to get pregnant no later than by next year. I have been putting off going to the reproductive specialist because I haven't had good experiences with them, but I guess I have too if I want a child of our own. And now they won't let you adopt if you are overweight. So I feel like a total lepper.........

My hubby bought me that puppy from Hallmark, that they show on tv, he is so cute..........

Big

Goooood Morning

Its so WONDERFUL to see you all

Sassy girl, I'm with the other chickies...having been there and done that over and over and over again. IMHO if you lost 100 lbs in that short of time your body is going to feel the repercussions. Its just not a healthy thing to do. You might be thinner but so will your hair and your body will really take a toll from the abuse your going to put it through. I understand you want this with all your heart but I think you deserve to be healthy at your 10th anniversary and not sickly/skinny.... How about making the 100 lbs a goal at your 11th anniversary. When I was in my 20s I did a massive starvation to try to lose weight ... did I lose weight .. I sure did...about 150 lbs in a year and 1/2. I wound up in the hospital b/c the doctors were checking me for kidney damage....and my hair got so thin...it was pretty sad. Knowing what I know now..would I do it again, NO WAY! We don't realize the damage we do to our bodies when we try rapid weight loss, pills, extreme diets, etc.. I'm not trying to destroy your dreams... I'm just saying we love you and don't want you to hurt yourself Your attitude is awesome !! keep it up, that with a sensible goal..I know there's nothing you can't do. GO GIRL !!!

Buddly.... no snow !!!! we are expecting a storm tonight..so they say. I just so love the summer. Cinnamon stick is pretty

Amarie, how's the doggy? Our pup is 13 (at least) and she has cancer of the liver. We are not sure how fast it is growing or even if its growing. The doctor wanted to do surgery but at this age and the chemo and everything, it would just be to much for her and not to mention surgery alone would be around $5,000 and there's no guarentee of course. Its so hard when they get older and they can't tell you if they are hurting or what. Are you done steaming your bathroom? mines next..the keys are under the mat LOLOL jk.

Cherry...welcome back. I agree..yes you can do this. We just have to keep reminding ourselves..and thats the hardest part don'tcha think.

Heather... me too, hurry up summer. I really can't stand January February and March...they are such LONG dreary months. Besides, I can't wait to plant some flowers and a few ginormous pumpkins..just for fun. Glad your feeling better

Nothing going on here, sosdd. Just trying to be good and eat sensibly and drink all my water glug glug burrr burrrrr.......you know sosdd LOL.

Have a WONDERFUL Tuesday

.

Hi all!

My pup is back from the Vet, and doing better - thanks everyone for inquiring! She had a tough night, and seemed to really struggle with aftereffects of the anesthesia. She's better this morning, though. They removed her tumor and sent it for biopsy - the vet said it was a full inch of tissue! Her bloodwork labs came back with further elevated liver enzymes, meaning she now officially has liver disease, and the vet thinks its probably Cushings, but we'll wait until the biopsy is back before doing any more tests.

Buddly - Older dogs are the best aren't they? My Cleo is probably 15+ (I got her from the pound when she was already 9+). I am sorry about your pup's cancer. I had a scare with Cleo last year, when they thought she had carcenoma, and I had to consider the potential of surgery and radiation. The thing is, no amount of surgery can make her any younger .

Hi Sassy! - Did you make it home OK? I hope you didn't have to stay in a hotel, or if you did that you were able to get sleep. Let us know?

Cathy - Good for you getting 2 miles in this am! I hope you mom is better.

Hi Leenie and Heather and everyone else! to everyone.

Wink Hi Chicks...

Hi Chicks.

Well I didn't get stuck at work, DH was able to make it and came and got me, it really wasn't that bad, it was slick in a few spots, but nothing like they were making it out to be!! lol. Tonight coming in it was just wet. But we are worried since its so cold (21 Degrees + Wind) that it will all freeze and we're supposed to get freezing rain + snow in the AM. So lets hope for the best!!! lol.

I've been doing ok today so far with eating except for just now my DH brought me McDonalds......already fell off the wagon and I just barely got on!!! lol.

Well only 6 more hours to go + 13 hours tonight (Wed. night) and then I am off....... lol.

Leenie -- Thanks, I appreciate your concern and everybody's. I am not going to do the 100 lbs. I am going for the 50 lbs and if I happen to lose more than fine. I doubt I'd ever be able to do it anyways because my body doesn't like to get rid of the fat. lol. So its gonna be slow for me even if I didn't want it to be...........lol. Its all my own fault anyways. I should have stuck to it when I first joined here in 06' and then I'd be my goal weight already. So the only person to blame for this is myself.

Cathy -- I hope your mom is ok!!!

Hello Heather --

Amarie -- Big glad your pup came through it alright, hope everything comes out ok. I made it home and slept like a baby or a log or whatever you wanna call it. I slept very very well. lol.

Big to all, hoping you all are doing well in this crazy weather!!!

Morning all - missing you chicks, without my usual dose of hellos yesterday!

Sassy - somebody said it's not the falling down that's failure, it's the staying down - or somethign like that! - and that's what losing weight is all about, too - you know this. No point looking backwards and thinking how far you'd have come IF you'd done X,Y and Z... instead - focus on NOW, and how far you'll have come in a week, two weeks, three months - six months! You can do this, and we're all here to cheer you on! No more putting yourself down!

Amarie - glad Cleo is okay, if not entirely healthy. It is so hard... the love our pets give us is immeasurable, and we must love and care for them until the end.

Right - busy day for me, starting with clearing snow!!

Have a good day all - will pop in later!

Good Morning all -

I hope everyone is having a glorious day!

Sassy - Glad you got home OK! Oh no! Hmm... seems like maybe you need to have a chat again with hubby about goals? It was so sweet of him to bring you something, but McD?!!! (OK, I have to admit their food is my weakness, but it makes me feel terrible).

Again, I repeat what Heather said (I think I've been doing that a lot lately) No more putting yourself down, love! We are all here because we have tried and failed. The important thing is what we are capable of doing TODAY!! And I have no doubt in my mind you are capable of losing weight and getting healthier. You can! Yes you can!

Heather - Thank you I consider myself lucky to have any time to spend with Cleo. She is the BEST dog, and it boggles my mind how she could have ended up homeless at such an age

Anyway, I am on an extremely frustrating conference call and being so naughty by coming here instead of paying attention, OK, back to the grind.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everybody Missed you guys!

Been a little busy lately. Doing what? I'm not sure, errands and time with my fiance I guess. He took Monday off and we ran around most of the day.

A girlfriend of mine is coming over tonight to exercise with me. I had told her that I planned to make an exercise room with my ellipticle, exercise bike, and weight machine. The catch is that it's not all in there yet! Oh well, we'll just use it in the den. My fiance is doing something with his biker group tonight so it won't matter where we are in the house.

I really need to do some cleaning. Did I mention that I hate vacuuming? It always makes my back hurt.

Sassy: I've had a craving for McDonald's lately. Especially the fries. Unfortunately, like Amarie, it usually makes me feel like crap afterwards. (A small price to pay ) Good for you setting a goal. I usually try to calculate about a 2 lb a week loss, but to echo the others: I don't count on it. Our bodies do what they want to do. All we can do is stick as closely as possible to our plans and wait. Sometimes we get more than what we want, sometimes less. I usually find however that I'm pleased either way because I'm headed in the right direction instead of doing nothing.

Gotta run, be back later.
