My DH just took some anxiety treatment classes and they have helped him quite a bit. Basically it's all about deep breathing. I remember he said one technique was to breathe deeply into a coffee straw. I can't really remember anything else he said. That was one he mentioned. I'll ask him again and post later. Good luck.

I was going to suggest the rescue remedy. They have a spray one where u just spray 2 to 3 shots on your tongue kind of like a breath spray. I have never drank it in water... perhaps it is a little diluted? But then again, with homeopathic remedies, that is supposed to be the draw - a minute amount can work wonders. I swear by rescue remedy. Deep breathing... and like someone mentioned their dh does... run and run as hard as you can (if you dont mind the out of breath feeling).

my son use to have horrific anxiety attacks. we eventually found out he had a low thyroid problem. He is properly treated with Armour Thyroid. He takes 5 grains daily (as do I) and he has not had an anxiety attack in almost 3 years. Basically they are gone.

the only thing that helped a little with them while he was getting up to the dosage he needed of Armour was clonazepam. He no longer takes anything except the ArmourThyroid.

I have just talked to a counselor about anxiety and he thinks I also have depression. I am a full time care giver for a very young sick wonderful husband and things just get me CRAZY. Right now I am reading a book on Anxiety Disorders and I have so many of the things. I am also seeing my MD on Monday to discuss antidepressant medication but I am not sure about it. I have the constant mind racing and reoccuring thoughts. I am a mess. Any advise out there??????????

I am a caregiver to a wonderful DH who was diagnosed last year with a brain tumor...I am fortunate...after rehabilitation he is back to work and continuing to amaze me with his strength...but before that things were pretty dark...I am currently taking Prozac due to all the stress...anxiety...everything... I never thought that I would be taking medication...but sometimes...there just isn't a choice. I say that if you are at the end of your rope...if you eat well...work out...and do all the things that they tell you and you still cannot function it may be time to try meds... They have made me able to support my DH in all the ways that he needed me too... I still have to do the work...they are not a cure all... For example...I require regular Yoga/Cardio workouts...I have to spend some time every day even if it is a few minutes, outside meditating and I have to get my sleep as much as possible... Hang in there...there is hope...

Yes, yes, yes....there is help out there for uninsured people to receive free or low cost medication. I used to be on a program until I got health insurance. If interested, just google "montel williams prescription assistance" and there will be lots of options. Hope you feel better, I know how you feel

Thanks for the replys. Yes I do feel sometimes I can't give anymore to anyone. Right now I am trying to get a grip and take it easy, work, home family and hopefully a vacation down the road when DH is better. With his illness it is a one day at a time situation. I do think I am going to try the meds. Sleeping is difficult but the deep breathing is helping. Thanks All.

I am so sorry about the anxiety attacks. I used to have several a day but now down to only situational attacks. I hope you find what works for you quickly. I am also sorry about your living situation, it's hard.
