Depression and Weight IssuesHave you been diagnosed with depression, are possibly on depression medication, and find it affects your weight loss efforts? Post here for support!
Good morning ladies and welcome to a new week - I'm starting this thread to try to make myself stop lurking and get back to posting on a regular basis... no more pity parties for me! Kicking October behind me with new goals for November and getting back on plan! My biggest area of laziness in October was definitely exercise, so I MUST get back to regular workouts!!
I am thinking of you all, especially those of us who find it hard to put the clocks back and deal with early darkness, and I promise to post more regularly this month... not posting on 3FC is a baaaad sign for me, that I'm wallowing or hiding - who's up for a ??
This morning I started having twinges of sharp shooting pain down my back into my leg and my arm............It still hurts............So I called off work for my shift tonight this morning and also made an appt w/ my dr. The next appt was going to be on Wed until they heard what my problem was then they squeezed me in today. Its at 2:30.
Anywho, I hope you all have a great day.
Hi Girls.
Dr. Said it is nerve pain and prescribed medicine. Also gave me meds for muscular pain, if I should get any. He did say my symptoms describe a slipped disc, but since I have not had an injury, he does not think its that. He said to call ASAP if it gets worse. I haven't gotten my medicines yet, I sat at the pharmacy for 1/2 hour and I was like, forget this I am going home. lol. Could not sit any longer.......lol. So DH is out to get it now.
Well that is about it.

Hi Chicks!
Heather: Thanks for getting the thread started. How are things going for you? I've been having a pity party myself..it's time to get back on track.
Sassy: I have chronic nerve pain due to a ruptured lumbar disc. I didn't have an injury..it was a result of Degenerative Disc Disease. I hope the meds work for your pain. If you still have probs, ask your dr. for a referral to a neurologist. I hope you'll be feeling better soon!
Leenie, Cathy, Buddly, and everyone else out there:
Well I got some sleep, about an hour and a half, earlier and feel much better! Only downside is one of my meds causes me to sweat........UGH.......But if I feel better its well worth it!!!!!!
I got my "fast food fix" for supper yesterday, I figured one meal in a week is okay as long as its not a habit. So tonight I am leaving a bit early for work and stopping at the grocery to get healthy stuff to munch on at work, cuz another side effect of one of my meds is increased appetite......Great just what I need! lol. But I am going to get me some good food to take to work to snack on and eat healthy meals.
Joanne -- TY. So far the meds are working. I will def go to a neurologist if need be, my DH and MIL know all about nerve pain, as they both have it as well. Hopefully this is just a pinched nerve......I hope. Sorry to hear you have chronic nerve pain..............it is def not fun, that is for sure.
Well I guess I've rambled on looooonnnnnggg enough! lol. So girls I am off to go shower cuz I am all sweaty and YUCK..... lol Then going to lay down so hopefully I can get some sleep for work tonight........
Hi Ladies: I'm going to talk to my psychiatrist, who I've been with for four years, and who saved my life, and tell her that I'm switching to another Dr. I'm terribly nervous, anxious, and scared. I don't feel certain that I'm doing the right thing--but right now I'm not certain about much of anything. I feel like I'll never be ready to do this, but I NEED to do this. I munched on some gingersnaps and skittles this morning, trying to curb my anxiousness. But, now I've decided I'm going to go get on my gazelle for a little while and try to work up some seratonin to get me through this appointment. I would really appreciate your positive thoughts and prayers.
~Sassy, I sure hope that you feel better soon. I know that nerve pain can make you miserable. Kudos to you though, for making the committment to munch on healthy food at work, instead of junk food. I hope that your medicine doesn't increase your appetite at all.
~HeatherAngel and Stepping Out congrats on getting motivated again and joining us! You should be proud of yourselves for stepping out of the pity party (I know how hard that is, trust me!). I hope you both have a successful and happy day!
Not much new around here, except the weather of course. It was still snowing yesterday morning, but now its raining, I foresee a sloppy mess in the near future!! Not sure what the heck I'm going to do with myself. I put effort into a plan and don't see any real improvement and get discouraged. But I have to keep plugging along. Being on my feet for eight hours three nights in a row was sure telling though.
Heather good luck with the exercise this month.
Sassy are you feeling better? Glad the meds are helping, good luck with the side effects tho Thanks for the encouragment about the night shift. I've always been a "night owl" so that sure helps. I am glad I only have the two nights a week, my mom has to work two days 9am - 5pm and then the three nights of 10pm - 6am. Hopefully they find someone permament soon so my mom can stick with days and I can go back to whatever.
Morning How did things go? Sending positive thoughts your way
Hey Joanne, hope things are going fine for you.
Hi Leenie, Cathy Hope and everyone else
Well I should go and get something done and I have to think of something to cook for dinner.
I feel nauseous today......... If I had any personal time I sure would call off tonight...........But alas, I do not. lol.
Morning Joy -- I hope things went well for you. TY for your kind words and yes it is painful......and the meds have already seemed to "boost" my appetite, well at least yesterday.........today I feel totally yucky so don't wanna eat at all, but I know I can't do that either. lol.
Buddly -- I am the same way, I get discouraged as well, but I just keep trying. TY and yes the meds are helping........Aw another "night owl" I have always been too. I work only 3 nights a week, only long shifts, Mondays I work 5 p.m. - 7 a.m. (14 hrs), Tues & Wed I work 6 p.m. - 7 a.m. (13 hrs x 2) which all equals out to 40 hrs. It can be a pain and at the same time it can be nice too, to get your week done and be able to have some time to do whatever you want to do. lol. I hope they can find someone permanent so your mom can stick with days.......
My mother got her blood test results back and her Cholesterol is high, higher than mine is! So guess it can be a hereditary thing! As my grandma had it as well.........and I believe so does a couple of my uncles! They have her on meds for it now. Everything else came back normal.......Phew.
Oh and here is a tip for lowering cholesterol (I know imagine that, ME giving a tip!! lol. But I do know all about lowering cholesterol as I've been doing it since I was a teenager. lol) : Take Fish Oil pills. They have coated ones now too. They helped me lower mine and are great for your heart, among other things. Now of course Omega 3's which are in the fish oil pills are in foods you eat as well, if you'd rather take that approach, but some of us maybe cannot eat that many and so there is why they invented fish oil pills. Here is a link as well, explaining about Omega 3's, what foods are high in them, and what they do for ya, for any of those interested: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?t...trient&dbid=84
UGH its just one of those icky yucky cold fall days that makes ya wanna curl up and watch some movies...........too bad I can't do that tonight.........Don't think they would like that too much at work........lmao.
I'll need to catch up later. I am so busy this week.
I just wanted to let you know that Cathy's Mom had surgery and is having a rough time but she is stable as far as I know. If I find out more I'll let you know.
Nothing much new here. Weather of course is still yucky, now we have fog and the posibility of freezing rain. Thankfully we have a scanner and can usually hear where its bad.
Leenie, thanks for the update on Cathy's mom.
Sassy, thanks for the tip on the fish oils. I'll have to read the link. I've been trying to take flax seed oil. I put it in my morning shake when I remember. Your hours sound awfully long. But if you stay busy that would help and having more days off in a row is nice. My mom use to work seven on/ seven off and she just loved having those seven off.
Well I'm off to have some lunch and then get A to school.
Update on Cathy's Mom. Mom had the cancer removal surgery but was developing heart problems. The doctors now want to give her a pacemaker. So please pray for the family, they are surely in need.
Joanne, girlie its good to see you, whats going on in Joanne's world?
Heather, thanks for getting the weekly thread going, and yes, please post more you shrinking woman..... lookie at your ticker my gosh... YOU GO GIRL.
MorningJoy... sending postive prayer your way too. I hope the talk with your doc went or will go smoothly.
Buddly, nooooooooo snooooooooooow...ick. Do you find the more snow you get the more depressed you get??? I do. When we have snowy winters I always think about getting a SAD lite. How are the girls.
Sassy.... glad your feeling better. Back pain sucks. I have what Joanne has, DDD, along with spurs, arthritis in the back, knees and fingers....cricky I sound like an old fart. Just take it easy.
Today is karate with DD, mil's anniversary, shopping, cooking cleaning etc.
Here I am - managed to run 2 miles yesterday and 2 miles today - need to build back up. I REALLY let my efforts fall be the wayside, so I am trying to get back on this horse, even as it runs away from me!
