It's apple season where I'm from -- a great healthy food for weight loss. What are you looking forward to for fall?
Join the October Weight Loss Challenge to set your goal, track it, and meet it -- with the help of a supportive and encouraging group. All the goals will be compiled into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.
This thread is for weight loss goals. For your exercise goals, check out our sister thread: October Exercise Challenge
Hello Joy and all. I am a returning member of 3FC. I joined in 2013 and spent nearly two years in here in which I managed to lose about 75 lbs. Since then I gained all that back plus some. I was purt healthy back then at only 70 years old and managed to lose by both exercise (hard work gardening mostly) in which I built a large garden on alkaline clay, digging up soil, loading it in my truck and hauling it in and placing it in planters two to 3 foot deep by 14' long by 8" wide boxes which I built and installed a drip irrigation system for it. I also built a small 10'x20' greenhouse which was located in the garden. I trained hunting dogs (pointers) and walked over 10 miles per day during the training.
I remember Gardener Joy from back then also, and her green tomatoes, which I also love, they helped me a lot with my weight loss also plus being very tasty. Hers was a very active thread going back then.
I started to lose weight after a doctor's visit. The orthopedic told me that I was way overweight, which I already knew of course. Then he told me that if I lost a lot of this weight many of my problems would cease to exist. So a few days after that visit I decided to start weight loss again. That was 12 days ago. I had weighed in at 255.
My back is in awful condition with arthritis and all, diabetes, high blood pressure, and Cartledge gone in my knees. I can stand for only a short time until my back hurts so bad I have to sit. Walking is very difficult due to the knees.
Over the past 12 days since I began weight loss, I am down 17 lbs. I know that most of that was water weight and expected a fast drop at first and know the hard part will be beginning now.
When I lost the weight last time, I ate tasty meals consisting of vegetables like squash, tomatoes, onion, okra, and bokchoy with a lot of spices cooked in like chilies, oregano, coriander, lime juice, cilantro etc., and would often place that over a bed of rice. I tried to keep my caloric intake less than 1000 and plan on doing the same this time.
This time I cannot exercise like I did before so I have to do it all by cutting down on my eating and I plan on eating similar to what I did last time being as it was tasty food, did not leave me hungry ( I do not do hunger well) and worked. Without the exercise, I know it will take a lot longer to lose the extra pounds.
I will lose as fast as I can but do not expect to be able to lose much more than 2 lbs a week after my body settles into this mode.
I think this is enough about me to give you a general idea of who/what I am.
I’m bouncing in the same 3lb window. Driving me crazy & need to figure out something different to do. Making. a smaller goal this month and hopefully I can accomplish it.
10/1: 185.3
10/2: 186.0
goal: -2lbs

I'm with I.wanna.be.cute, setting a goal that seems unlikely that I will meet. But I think it will help me push that much harder. I'm very glad to be back at this after the various disruptions related to getting a colonoscopy.
October goal: -1 kg, Weigh 20x
3: 87.65 kgs, 1/20x
4: 88.2, 2/20
5: 88.3, 3/20

I'm making no progress, but at least headed in the right direction again. I feel like I'm just getting back into the groove after some disruptions, so I have high hopes for the rest of the month.
I'm back to my starting weight for the month. I've been down 1lb & up 2lb. two weeks of the month left, so still some time to drop a couple of lb if I apply myself.
