Wow, Follena, trekking in Costa Rica! That sounds exotic. Tell more...… Have you been before, what's on the agenda for the trip? I'm not even considering healthiness for my trip, it's just a case of how many calories can I get per gram of weight really. I've not carried 8x days before (my previous highest was 6x), so the other factor is also bulk and what will physically fit in my pack (hate tying stuff on the outside for some reason!)

Week Three
15: 208.8 16: 208.0 17: 207.6 18: 207.4 19: 207.4 20: 21: ---------------------------- Total Loss for Week Three: No change for me today on the scale. I decided to get my goal dress out of the closet and try it on and see where I'm at. It buttons all the way down the front, so it was relatively easy to put on, and wonder of wonders, the entire bottom half fit fine. The problem is the upper half. I got my tape measure out, and the dress is a full 8-9" from closing across my breasts (keep in mind this is a dress I wore 15 years ago, and I haven't had kids, so no reason for my breasts to have grown this much). So apparently, this time around, I'm the unicorn who is losing everywhere except my breasts. 8" around is a lot that I need to lose from there. But I've got another 40-60 more to lose, and it has to come from somewhere, so maybe the girls are in the crosshairs at some point. Please don't say you're jealous. Right now, I'm a G cup, and it stinks. I'd give up a lot to be back to a D or even DD again. |

CW: 181 GW: 180 Lacerta: wow potassium deficiency sounds painful. I've never had sciatica pain. LOL you're the unicorn who isn't losing breast weight. Good on ya! Is what I say. Ange: That's very cool you're carrying food for 8 days. Only time I did that was a canoe trip and the backpack was full with dehydrated products. We were shooting rapids and portaging and everything. Was so fun. I haven't been to CR before, but my sister and her husband have been several times. Trip itinerary is we land in San Jose, spend a few days in Tortuguero (east Caribbean coast), then rent a vehicle and go south to Dominical (Pacific side) for a week. With the car we could visit multiple areas in the south. We'll be staying in vrbo's (airbnb) the whole time. From the south, we then stay in Manuel Antonio for at least a week. I'm clearly not roughing it like you! When do you leave? |
Follena - your trip sounds great. Report back! My taxi to the airport for the first bit of holiday is due in an hour! But I have one day back in Aus before heading off to start the trek on 4th Jan I think. It's just me and a friend, so we're flexible, sort of. It's also a map/compass job as a lot of it is off any trails.
Last pre-xmas weigh in for me just now, and all on plan at 109lb. Looking forward to enjoying gaining a few lb's back in the next couple of weeks :) I'll call it carb-loading for my trek trip  |
Ange: Taxi in an hour?! Have a great time!!! lol
I read some of your other posts and you sound like my identical twin. From your post about seeing thinner fingers on the steering wheel to running and typing blah blah blah in your posts - so funny. Okay you have a great trip. Do NOT break your foot trekking. And we'll chat when you get back :) |

GW: 260 1: 265.5 New low! 2: 266 Of course it went up today! This was pre-bathroom though so I'll take it. 3: 266 Pre-bathroom again. This is somehow becoming a thing. Glad I'm sticking and not gaining though. 4: 266.5 Pre-bathroom and I'm sick. 5: 267 Sick in bed now so I'm not surprised it's up. 6: No WI 7: No WI 8: 265 13: 265 14: 265.5 15: 264.5 16: 266 17: 265.5 18: 265.5 19: No WI. I left really early this morning for a dissertation meeting and I was in a rush so I didn't WI. No idea what my calories were today - huge I'm guessing! I had cappuccino and muffin x 2, then incredible ravioli and thick Italian hot chocolate with a friend at a beloved Italian restaurant in town, followed by shrimp and avocado when I got home! In mitigation, I have done ~13000 steps today, inc. delivering Christmas cards around the neighbourhood just now in the dark. Have a great trip Ange! Give me a wave when you get to the UK! Your trip sounds incredible Follena! I'd love to go to Costa Rica! Lacerta, isn't it weird how we lose weight from different areas first? 40-60 pounds though: surely some of that has to come off your breasts?? You should take a photo wearing that dress now, and again in another 6 months. For me, my bottom half hardly changes, which is SO annoying! |
Newlyn: I hope so. When I had my last mammogram, they said I am mostly tissue, not much fat, but still. I've always been a D the rest of my adult life, and getting fatter probably didn't make me grow new mammary tissue, so I have hope to get back to a D. But for now, I'm still wearing the same bras as I was 60 pounds ago, just on the tightest clasp. I've lost rib fat and back fat, so my circumference has gone down, but my cups are the same volume. As a result, I've gone from a 42D (that was probably too small, like all my clothes) to somewhere between a 34H and a 36G. If you look at the bra sister sizes chart, you'll see that is the same cup volume. Therefore, my 42D bras still fit, they're just on the tightest possible clasp now. I'll have to change soon, but the only smaller bras I have in my closet are a 38D and a 36D (noting a trend, as I said, I've always been a D cup until now). I tried them on and the bands fit fine, but the cups aren't even close. So apparently, I'm going to have to go bra shopping soon if I don't drop some volume from there.
Week Three 15: 208.8 16: 208.0 17: 207.6 18: 207.4 19: 207.4 20: 207.4 21: ---------------------------- Total Loss for Week Three: Apparently this is my new favorite weight. I've been a little snacky this whole week, so I'm not really surprised being sort of stalled out on the scale. Nothing too bad, mostly grapes, nuts, popcorn, just more of it than usual. |

CW: 180.2 GW: 180 Happy, happy for getting this close to the 170s. I had my cauliflower saute with 2 fried eggs for supper last night ... delicious. |
awaiting photos patiently!!

Follena: You're probably posting right now, but I saw in another thread you hit the 170s today, so :congrat:
Week Three 15: 208.8 16: 208.0 17: 207.6 18: 207.4 19: 207.4 20: 207.4 21: 207.4 ---------------------------- Total Loss for Week Three: +1.0 So I'm calling that random 206.4 last week a fluke, so I've really just plateaued for this week (I even reset the scale this morning, that 207.4 was legit, I'm just stuck). Hasn't been a great month for weight loss, just a couple pounds overall so far. I'll take it, because it is movement in the right direction, but I'm not entirely sure why so slow. I think it is a combination of factors. I've been working more hours, which means less time at home and with the shorter days, that means less walks, because I won't go out in the dark, and in Idaho, this time of year, there's a whole lot of dark. I've probably only walked 1/2 the days this month. Plus, I don't really like winter fruits and veggies, so I'm eating less of them than in the rest of the year, plus I've been a little snacky for salty foods, not bad choices, and not really large quantities, but still. None of those by themselves is terrible, but I think the combination of all three has led to this slowdown. Unfortunately, that means if I don't step it up a notch, I'm in for a rough winter. |
Lacerta: thank you so much!! I feel relieved because I was kind of mad at myself for regaining all the weight I lost last year. I read your post and agree, sometimes those little things add up to make it difficult. But your body could also be taking a little break before your second half of weight loss to goal. You know the route.

Not necessarily. The only person we need to compete with is ourselves. I've definitely found that I prefer the challenges where we all support and encourage one another and NOT the ones where we are competing against one another. |
Popping in because it's been a few days again. Feeling better overall but staying busy with the holiday coming up. I also found out that my mom and her husband are going to be driving here to visit afterall and will be here for a week or two, so having to do a lot of prep for that. Excited to see them, though! However, I always seem to put on at least 5-8 lbs whenever they come to town, lol. As for my actual check-in, I've been hovering in the same few ounces but have been mostly staying on track. I fell off doing my walks/exercising for a couple of days while I wasn't feeling well, but I'm hoping that shouldn't be an issue too much after Christmas. Though, I do expect to see a gain tomorrow because I kind of overdid it at dinner time tonight...whoops! We'll see what the damage is in the morning. Waving hello at you all in the meantime! https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ima...iles/wavey.gif

The weather's nice today so I might avoid the shopping crowds and go for a walk on the beach - try and meet some dogs! |
Newlyn: You and I have both had a rough month. I didn't have finals and I didn't get sick, so I had a really good 5 day drop, but other than that, I've also been completely stalled out. But you know what, we both still beat the odds. A news trivia question one morning said that 7 out of 8 Americans (I think it was) gain weight over December. So by maintaining, we are still doing better than like 87% of Americans. An article I found for the UK said that the average Brit puts on 5 pounds just between Christmas and New Years. So just maintaining this time of year is still better than almost everyone. We'll both hang on to that, keep the good habits and look forward to a better January.
Ophelia: 3 pounds down again this week. You're still crusing. Follena: I hope it isn't another plateau already. I stalled out for the entire month of September, apparently for my body to adjust to being down to the 220s. I was totally on plan all the time, but only lost 0.4 pounds that month. That was definitely my body taking time to adjust. I really think this slowdown has been more of my own doing. Less movement and more calories. So I'm really trying to watch the calories a little better and get more small bursts of movement in to make up for not having daylight to go for my long walks. Week Four 22: 207.4 23: 24: 25: 26: 27: 28: ---------------------------- Total Loss for Week Four: I did another scale reset today because this marks day 5 in a row of the exact same weight. But no, I really am just stuck exactly here. The funny thing is that I seem to get stuck at weights I'm looking forward to. I was really looking forward to the 220s, and then I got stuck for 6 weeks at 220-223. Then I was really looking forward to halfway and I've been stuck here for a week so far. Following that logic, I'll probably get stuck again at 199 and again at 190, but after that, I don't really have any really big numbers I'm watching for until 167.4, so maybe I can actually build some momentum. (I'm sure it won't really work this way, but it has been funny so far.) Hopefully I can break this stall and lose at least a couple more pounds by the end of the month. But I have been working a lot more hours than I expected in December. Usually it is a pretty quiet month for us, but my boss decided to take on about 50 new rentals this month (mostly from one owner), which is a huge increase for us, taking us from about 200 to about 250 doors. And that has been a TON of work (actually would have used another word, but the censors would have blocked it), so instead of having a nice quiet month, I've been sending out dozens of "welcome to our company" letters, scheduling walkthroughs of all the properties, and signing like 3 leases a day on top of all my other normal work. Instead of using the month to catch up, we've been actually getting more behind, so I'm going in today for a few hours to work with the boss to catch up a bit. They've agreed to hire another person to help with all this new load, but we are a small office so training a new person actually makes the job harder in the short term, because there are only 2 of us right now, so training a new person takes one of us away from helping the other person get the normal daily work done. We definitely need a 3rd person now, though, because on top of the property management, we are also a real estate and a construction office, and it is just too much for two people to handle. Anyway, I suspect that it ins't a plateau, which I consider to be a stallout for no real reason. This stall is likely stress and less good choices. |
