Total Loss for Week Three:

So I definitely expected some rebound today after being down 4 pounds in 4 days and then eating high sodium yesterday on top of that. Plus, I ended up being a long day at work and went to lunch and ate a few more fries than I intended. So this was a bigger rebound than I was hoping for. /sigh. But that's ok, I'll be drinking lots of water today and we'll see how much of that I can get back off for tomorrow and Monday.

ETA: Oh, I forgot, I took my measurements yesterday. I've been trying to do that about every 2 weeks. My waist was down to 38.5", a full inch down from what it was on the 27th (and I was down 1/2" on my hips too). We'll see if that sticks, but that was very nice to see. The last time I weighed 190, I was down to 35" waist, and that is only about 18 pounds away now, so I was starting to think I wasn't even going to be close, but hopefully, the paper towel roll effect is starting to kick in, and I will see some more inches coming off soon.

Great to see that everyone's still losing, even as the holidays loom... That's got to be sodium Lacerta! Once you've seen a number it's only a matter of time before it shows up again.

Finally I've lost something! I was a bit disheartened yesterday but then I realised that while I've been ill/doing assignments, I've been eating pretty badly: sandwiches, cookies etc. - stuff that's easy to eat in the library - and doing very few steps. So it's no wonder I haven't made any progress, esp. as I've had three days over 2000 calories this week. I've slept very well the past couple of nights though, which always makes a difference, and it showed up today (although I didn't weigh in until 1345 and I'd been running around the shops and hadn't eaten/drunk anything).

Follena 12-15-2018 12:15 PM

Newlyn: congrats on the new low. I also find sleep makes a huge difference in weight loss.
Lacerta: no biggy. You will lose it in no time.

Newlyn: I think with all you've had going on, just maintaining has been a huge win. And now today, you got another new low. Way to go.

Partway back down today is something, especially since I weighed in 90 minutes early. I've been craving salt the last couple of days plus not sleeping very well, waking up early early in the morning and not getting back to sleep, which is totally not me (I usually have a hard time getting to sleep, but once I'm out, I sleep like a baby for 8+ hours). So I'm not really surprised to be having trouble getting back down. A day without the salty snacks and with actually getting a full night's sleep will probably take me back where I was. I haven't been over on calories.

No idea why it's up again, apart from TOM being due in the next 3-4 days.

opheliaphoenix 12-16-2018 03:21 PM

Newlyn: I'm glad you're finally feeling better! :yay: And, TOM is often the culprit to random bloating when it is looming near, so I'm sure that will move back down soon, too.

Lacerta: I bet you get in more steps in a day that you realize...and, congrats on hitting your 60 lb milestone!! :cheer3: The little bump back up yesterday will flush right back out. You're doing amazing and are an inspiration yourself!

Follena: I'm sure you'll be in the 170s in no time!

I haven't posted since the middle of the week but I've still been keeping track of my weigh-ins, so I will post all the ones finishing up last week as well as this week's to catch up. Today's weigh-in was 173.2, so I'm still chipping away at it little by little. I had a big 2 lb bump up after I ended up binging on what was left of that mac and cheese the night after I posted how I was so proud that I was able to resist it. https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ima...iles/blush.gif I guess I spoke too soon, lol. Thankfully, the effects of my "mac attack" flushed back out once I rehydrated and got back on plan right away. Whew! My activity has been hit-or-miss this week, but I'm still working at it. Hope everyone is doing well today! https://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/ima...iles/wavey.gif

Back down a little more today. I did get a bit more sleep last night, but I'm still craving salt. Two nights ago, I ate a bunch of saltines and last night I had salty popcorn really late. This last week, I've had some muscle cramping on my shins fairly badly at times, which I never have, so I have to wonder if I"m a little deficient on either sodium or potassium right now. Maybe that's the source of the salt cravings.

Just a quick check-in today as I'm feeling quite under the weather. (More headache and nausea sick than coughing/sneezing sick, though there's still a bit of that lingering around from most of the season.) Weigh-in was 172.4 today. Will update more and do personals tomorrow.

TW: Right here, right now. Licence to add 4lb over xmas :)

My little flurry of discipline is going well and I've got myself some nice wiggle room now. And I've also been hitting the weights at the gym quite a bit which the literature tells me will help me burn calories faster in the long term..... well, not sure i'm going to notice that, but lets see.

I can see bits of me now that I've never ever seen before in my life - like tendons in my shoulders when I lift my arm a certain way, and bones in my foot when I flex it. And my arms and legs have curves where the muscles are - completely loving it!! (Well apart from when I bend over and lots of saggy skin appears on my arms, stomach, legs!! - but to be honest i'm even accepting the mega-wrinkles as war-wounds that i'm almost proud of!)

Having the house to myself with the hubby being away at the moment has made staying on plan a bit easier, on the other hand I do have to walk past a lot of enticing looking little restauraunts and bars on my way to/from the gym! Two more days like this then it's travel-time. I've got a 3-part holiday coming up, with the middle bit (villa in Bali with friends) probably being the most difficult calorie-wise, on the other hand I don't care, it's only 5 days there, and I don't think i'll be wanting to go crazy - but just eat/drink whatever everyone else is doing.
The first bit is back to UK with Mum+Dad, they're in their 90's and eat like sparrows, so shouldn't be too dangerous. The last bit is an 8-day trek in the wilderness, no road access no facilities no nothing, so I have to carry everything i'm going to eat, plus my tent, stove, sleeping bag, first aid, clothes etc etc. The scary thing about this is that all that weight in my backpack plus several lbs of water, will still be considerably less than just what I've lost off my body this year, which in itself will be an interesting psychological thing! For my preparation I've been at the supermarket scrutinizing the trail mix, tuna options etc to see which ones have the HIGHEST calorific value per unit weight - kind of the opposite to the normal approach!

Hello everyone. I have not posted that much personal on this thread since I'm in two other threads as well and I usually only have time during coffee break at work in the mornings.
Ophelia: I hope you're not under the weather anymore. You are doing supremely well on your weight loss and I'm looking forward to the 170s. Pretty soon you'll be in the 160s!!
Newlyn: new low YAY!! :carrot:
Lacerta: glad you at least got a little more sleep. How's the salt craving going? On my low-carb eating plan, enough salt is important ... just on low-carby things though.
Ange: sounds like you've got things under control. I hear you on healthy eating in the wilderness .. can be challenging. I'll be doing the same for my upcoming trip to Costa Rica.
Annette: Yes you are in the right place to find support. Just keep posting as often as you want about your daily efforts. I find posting my daily efforts keeps me mindful of the goal and helps to stay on plan.

Have a great day, all!

Lacerta 12-18-2018 10:12 AM

Follena: Thanks. I definitely haven't cut out all sodium or anything, but I try to avoid the really heavily salted things and choose lower sodium options. But I've had some extra servings of potassium rich foods to see if that helps, if my potassium was low. A couple years ago, when I ruptured a disk in my back and learned all about what sciatic nerve pain feels like, I was in so much pain I stopped eating, and ended up in the emergency room with a severe potassium deficiency. So I try to keep an eye on making sure I do get enough potassium in my diet. No muscle cramping for the last 24 hours, so I think it is helping. Also, you are so close to the 170s!!

Annettejustine: Welcome to 3FC. If you're looking for a friendly group of like minded individuals who all support one another and cheer each other on, you have come to the right place.

ange: That's an amazing place to be at right now and should help make your holidays bright. Your backpacking trip sounds amazing, not to mention a villa in Bali. Wow! Have a fantastic time.

ophelia: Ugh, I hate that. I've had the sniffles and sneezes for most of this month, sometimes I think I have a winter allergy, but it is mild enough to just be slightly annoying. But the headache/nausea combo really takes it out of me and makes me just want to sleep all day. /hugs and feel better soon

Inching lower. I'm thinking that 206.4 last week was maybe a fluke somehow, because I certainly didn't bounce right back to it. But I'm back to my 2nd lowest weigh in weight now, and back to the 60 pound down marker, just in time for my 9 month anniversary of weight loss, today. So exactly 60 pounds in 9 months. I did sleep better last night and had less sodium heavy foods yesterday, so I was hoping to be down more today, but at least I was down some. Just 2 weeks left in the year. Keep at it, everyone.
