Ophelia: That does sound like a rough schedule. So you'll only be able to sleep from like 4-8 or 4-9 PM each day? When do you fit in homework for your classes? I don't think I could get by on that little of sleep. Kudos to you. I've worked some varied shifts, but never a graveyard shift (other than occasionally for inventory), so I don't really have any advice for making the switch. My husband works the early morning shift, so he goes to bed really early in the evening, but he just uses a sleep mask and blackout curtains. He does also play audio that relaxes him so he can go to sleep faster (for him it is a rain sounds app he found on Roku). Best of luck to you.

Total Loss for Week Two:

Well, I was back to last week's lowest today, and that was with weighing in 90 minutes early. So I have hopes for tomorrow to be back in the teens.

opheliaphoenix 12-10-2018 11:56 PM

Lacerta: I should be home no later than 7:30am in the mornings (some days sooner), so I will be using the time I am home with my son until the older ones get home to do any homework, workouts, errands, etc. I figured if I have to be awake during those hours, I will utilize them as best I can. It depends on if I'm able to get the sleep between 4-8:30pm the night before. There will likely be some cat napping on some rougher days if he feels like snuggling with me, lol. ;) When he starts school, it will be fine. In the meantime, I will probably use all the usual things like the sleep mask (I already have a couple), the soothing audio (I like some ASMR videos on YouTube, as well as rain storm and fan sound loops, etc), and I may have to invest in some heavy curtains since we only have blinds in our bedroom at the moment. Glad you're seeing some movement on the scale...fingers crossed for a good weigh-in for you tomorrow! :crossed:

-----------------------------------------

Weigh-in was 175.0 today, which means that water whoosh helped me hit my goal for the month already...lol. :cheer3: With TOM coming sometime in the next couple days, I'm just going to stick with my original goal and try to maintain under it for the rest of the month. Side note, since I'm posting so late in the evening, I can report that today was also my first fully on-plan day since coming back....hit my water and calorie ranges and got in 20k steps! Hoping to do it again tomorrow. :running: Not sure about the steps part. I think I'm going to need to replace my shoes soon...there's a ton of miles on them now, and the little bits of the foam that are wearing in the sole rubbed a couple sore spots on the pads of my feet. Maybe for Christmas, lol.

Hope everyone has a good on-plan day. Stringing those healthy days together, one after another is what gets us to goal!

Lacerta 12-11-2018 10:38 AM

Ophelia: Thanks for the :crossed: It helped. :) Sounds like you've got it figured out for your schedule. Like you said, at least you've got a couple weeks before school starts back up again, so you can take it one step at a time. I hope that it all works out for you. I thought about getting new shoes soon for my walking, mine are getting worn out, too. But right now, I can tell that my feet are shrinking, because I keep having to tighten the laces, so I'm going to wait until spring and maybe I'll be able to buy a smaller size. I wear a size 10, so a smaller size would be nice. Also, amazing work meeting goal already. The 160s are in sight again.

Follena: Great progress. You've still got 20 days and only 3.5 pounds to goal. Way to go.

Total Loss for Week Two:

Whoosh. I hoped for it today and thought it might happen, but it was still a rush to see that 8 this morning. New low by over a pound and only 1 pound away from my halfway mark. Onward and downward from here. The rest of my month is a lot less stressful with fewer hours, and I may even take an extra day or two off. With this morning's whoosh, I'm now 4.8 pounds from this month's goal. 20 days. That should be doable.

So far this year, I've done better in all the months with 31 days (like several pounds better, not just the fact that there is one more day, in fact, my worst 31 day month is still better than my best 30 day month), plus I didn't gain anything for the first 10 days this month, like I sometimes do, so if the trend holds, and the stars align, I may even get close to Onederland, but progress has slowed down in general, so we'll see.

opheliaphoenix 12-11-2018 02:43 PM

Follena: I hope you have a great day, too!

Lacerta: Nice whoosh!! :cheer3: And, I had some "foot shrinkage" as well along the way, so I get it. I only went down half a size in most shoes (a full size in a couple I've tried), but it was still so odd to me to realize that our bodies can -- and will -- carry weight anywhere...lol.

Popping in really quick to say that my weigh-in today was 174.6. Not much else to report since I posted right before bed last night, so just going to say hiiiii! Haha.

Good to see plenty of chat happening on this thread. Great to see you back here Ophelia!

My target for December was to maintain at 112, and after 10 days working away I was 111.3 this morning when I got back on the scales, so all is good. Luckily this trip I was working on my own and self-catered so there weren't too many distractions and I could just buy in veggies etc from the supermarket and eat my normal stuff in the apartment and take salads for lunches etc. Even though I've only lost 1lb i'm feeling so much better not to be creeping up in weight at the moment (ok I know Christmas is around the corner!) as before I was sticking to plan in the week, but having a bit too much off-plan at weekends and that was enough to start going up gradually. 5-6 months in to maintenance and still figuring it out.....

Loving the energy on this site ... I consider myself lucky to have found a few threads that are consistently active with committed healthy eaters!

Ophelia: Thanks. I read an article talking about foot shrinkage with weight loss, and it said that part of it is the fat on the foot, but part is also that as the weight comes off, there is less downward pressure on the foot, so it gets more "archy" and less flat, which pulls the toes back, so your foot can wind up actually shorter heel to toe as well as smaller overall.

ange: You might still be figuring it out, but you make it look easy. You are doing amazing.

Follena: I really think my daily posting on here is a large part of my success so far. The routine really helps keep me on track. I'm looking forward to January, when a lot more people resolve to lose weight and the forums tend to get a lot more active.

Wasn't down further, but did get to keep the entire loss. I'll take it. I decided to take the day off work today and relax.

Ange: Good to see you, too!! You're doing great with maintenance...I hope I'm able to be as stable as you are when the time comes to finally maintain a weight.

Follena: Agreed! Overall, the 3FC forums have died down quite a bit over the years, but I'm so thrilled that a few threads have remained this active in spite of that!

Lacerta: That makes a lot of sense, too! The body really is a wonderful and curious thing. :chin:

-------------------------------------

Weigh in was down just a smidge to 174.4, but I'm happy because at least it's down...TOM is always a mixed bag of bloated ups and random downs, so I never know what to expect during these weeks. :dizzy: Yesterday was all on-plan again, but the steps were in the 13k range instead of 20k. I wasn't as busy throughout the day, so I wasn't expecting to hit anything higher. (When I'm actually doing my walks, 11k-15k is the typical range.) My cals were a little on the higher end as well because I snuck some leftover macaroni and cheese I'd made the other day, but it was still within my limit for the day. Homemade mac & cheese is just one of my ultimate comfort foods, so it's a little dangerous to have sitting around. I could have easily eaten enough to make myself sick and have actually done so in the past, so I'm happy I was able to keep to just a few nibbles...lol. :^:

Everyone's doing so well - huge whoosh Lacerta!
I'm still the same, not up, not down, but my eating/sleeping/exercise have been off for 10 days so I'm just thankful that it hasn't gone up. Hopefully now I can get some consistent walking/eating in before Christmas and start to lose again. It's nice to be back! x

Lacerta 12-13-2018 10:02 AM

Newlyn: Glad you're starting to feel better. Must have been rough doing finals while sick. Maintaining your weight while that was going on, AND coming back here afterward is a HUGE accomplishment. Every time I've tried to lose weight in the past, that is always when I fall off the wagon completely, is when I get really sick. So kudos for being back here today. That is bigger than you may realize.

Ophelia: Congrats on continuing to lose, even during TOM. And your consistently high step count is amazing. I don't have a fitbit, so don't know what mine is, but I do walk 2-4 miles a day, plus walk around a fair bit otherwise, but my job is partially a desk job, so I do spend a not-insignificant amount of time sitting. I'd guess I probably come in in the 8000-9000 range on average. Many moons ago, when I worked at Barnes and Noble, I'm sure I was easily 15k a day. That's when I was thinnest, which is likely not a coincidence.

Woohoo!!! I am very excited this morning to hit another milestone. I am now 60 pounds down, which puts me halfway to my overall goal. At least the goal I'm shooting for, for now. That could change when I get closer, but you've got to pick someplace to start, right? That means I get to change my avatar again. Yay!

So the whoosh hasn't ended yet, somehow. I really think it has to be done now, and I'll almost certainly rebound a bit tomorrow (I usually do on Saturdays anyway). But it has been fun while it lasted. Only need 2.8 more to meet my goal for the month and 6.6 more to make Onederland. Getting so close.
