Hey guys! Long time, no check-in...sorry about that! This month being back in school for the first time in over 15 years has been a doozy, lol. I'm still trailing along, though. That being said, I've been stuck in my same old up and down pattern, so I didn't make much progress in September. Only 2.8 lbs overall so far, so I doubt I'll be making my 10 lb goal, but I'll still be giving it a go. Hope everyone is doing well...and may October be a great month for us all! :witch:

P.S. I also changed my "official" weekly weigh-in days to Monday for October to fall in line with this challenge, so my weigh-ins will be more accurate. I also added a ticker for it, lol.

Lacerta 09-30-2018 05:50 PM

So I was wrong about breaking my plateau. I bounced back up and have been stuck all week. I actually ended the month only 0.4 pounds down. So definitely a plateau. I stayed on track for everything all month, but no matter what I did or didn't eat, I just have been hanging out in this range.

However, I'm actually in a really good place mentally. I'm still just doing my thing, not really frustrated, just accepting that my body is adjusting to the 220s being the new normal instead of the 260s. Eventually, it will finish adjusting and I will be able to head downward again. Might not be on the timetable I was hoping for, but still totally ok.

Week four was ok for me! Even though I did go up a little, I was mentally prepared for it considering I had been sick the previous week so now I think I'm back to my "true" weight. I had a pretty lazy weekend when I should have gone on a run, so now I'm truly behind on my 5K training and I'm not entirely sure I'll catch up in time! I'll just do as many runs as I can and I'm sure it'll be fine on the day.

Lacerta - I hope you break through your plateau soon! Something to consider, sometimes when we stall it's because we need to change up what we're doing. Our bodies can get used to how much we eat/how much we exercise, so doing something to "shock" the body might kick start the weight again. For me it's always pushing myself harder in workouts, or eating more protein or fiber.

ophelia - Great to see you! Wow, being back at school again must be a challenge! Hope it's all going well for you. How are you finding it? I'm sure once your life routine feels regular you'll make progress on your weight loss, big life changes always complicate things!

workinglikeadog - Hope you can get out on your walks soon! I understand why that must be scary, are there any ever accidents will walkers? :o

flower1 - I bet it's great to have friends to workout with! I'm definitely a solitary workout person, but I imagine it's nice having that accountability!

somedaysunny - Did your butt make it to the gym?! Ah, I see what you've done, you've just copied the wrong code is all! What you need is the BBcode. So in LilySlim go to "Get Ticker Code" click on the "Forums" then copy the code that's under "PseudoHTML UBBCode and BB Code" and that should do it!

Chunk - haha to "joyous bursts!" I guess my own weight loss could be described as snails pace!

somedaysunny 10-01-2018 06:00 PM

Thanks Rie! I think I got it lol and no I didn't make it to the gym :( I had to wear uniform to class today and I didn't wanna take clothes to change into lol my backpack is already 50 pounds. Gonna try for tomorrow!

Chunkahlunkah 10-02-2018 09:26 AM

132.2 today.
Maybe I'll lose enough to hit 131.6 this week. That'll keep my trend going of a 6 in the tenths place. :D

Have a good Tuesday, all!

Riestrella 10-02-2018 10:56 AM

Went on a run yesterday, woohoo! Didn't do as good as my previous 1.75 mile run, but I did push myself as much as I could. I felt very drained, almost super sleepy? I think it was what I ate in the morning - I'm gonna switch to something like oatmeal with soy milk. Always feels good to update my 5K training ticker though! I planned out the runs for the next couple of weeks, I worked out that if I run 3 times a week then I'll be able to complete my 5K training so now it's just a case of sticking to it! Glad I don't have to "double up" since I usually fail at those types of plans. I definitely need to work more on stretching and rolling out with a foam roller after my runs, my joints tend to ache otherwise.

This morning I was up just a smidge to 181.6 lbs, still thrilled to be seeing 181 though, I can see 179 around the corner! Just need to keep on going!

Rie: It was a rough transition at first, especially with the math, but I think I'm starting to get more used to it now...lol. I've always been a nervous test taker though, so I'm not looking forward to midterms and such. Hoping it goes more smoothly than the weight loss has been going for me for the last couple of months, haha. Great job on the running, by the way!

Rie - thanks for the weekly chart. Great job on your 5k training. When does the run take place?

Chunk - great job on your drop this week

Hi everyone. I hope your week is going well. I am down 2 lbs this week. I'm really pleased as I had been plateaued for several months. I just finished week 5 of my 12-week weight training program so I think I'm starting to see some results.

MorningGlory1950 10-06-2018 07:34 PM

So happy to be back on track. I lost 2.5 pounds in two weeks, feels so good to be in control.
I can't wait to see the final results this week!

As always, thank you Riestrella for this great annual challenge!

Lacerta 10-07-2018 01:25 PM

I'm now back to exactly where I started. Still plateauing between 220 and 223. Clearly I'm not going to come anywhere near my goal, but this is part of the process, so I'm just hanging out here. Congrats to all those are are having success.

Hey Everyone:
Sorry I haven't been posting. Cassie, my puppy, has really been kicking my butt and draining my energy. Combine that with several weeks of insomnia, and I've become a slug. I have tried every possible technique to deal with her biting/mouthing, but nothing tames it. I've even drained two air horns. I have wounds on arms and hands, bruises on my legs and holes in the legs of multiple pants. She even started trying to literally nip me in the butt. I can't wait until she grows out of this stage of development. She is so cute when she is sleepy, but those moments are becoming less frequent.

One note of good news this week, during my annual visit with my primary care doctor, was that my blood work was normal. I talked to my doctor about possibly using CBD oil for insomnia and pain. he indicated that he has several patients that use it. He actually said his brother has an insomnia problem and has successfully used CBD oil for it. So, I'm going to give CBD oil a try. Just have to finish my research on sources and decide where to buy it.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...EN/Zombie4.gif
My biggest problem right now seems to be with a chronic lack of quality sleep and management of arthritis pain. Late night snacks (usually Popchips or dry Golden Graham cereal and chocolate pieces) have been my downfall when I can't sleep. The snacks usually happen after trying a chain of things to remedy the situation (bath in epsom salts/lavendar, hot packs or icing, Advil or other OTC pain med, Melatonin (quit working), or Benadryl. So, I will be overjoyed if the CBD oil tames my insomnia and perhaps reduces my arthritis discomfort.

I plan to get back to the gym this week and get in some walking mileage from volunteering at the riding center. I'm hoping to be able to catch up a bit on my sleep deficit.

Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

Cattails:
Your dog Brody is so cute! I'm glad he is a valued member of your family. You are right that the investment of time with them will pay off. I'll have a lot of humorous memories down the road. Rignt now, I have a lot of wounds, bruises and garmets with holes in them. I know that ripped garmets are in fashion, but Cassie doesn't have the ripping technique quite right.

Chunkahlunkah: Hope the scale keeps heading down for you! Those ounces add up

Flower1: Good job with the 2-pound loss and sticking with your exercise program

Lacerta: Hanging in there is an accomplishment! I think that most of us have to adjust our goals periodically. Goals are just a tool and tools can need adjustments.

MorningGlory1950:
Congrats on the 2.5 lb loss and getting back on track!

Opheliaphoenix: Hang in there with the tests. I was always a nervous test taker, as well. Going back to school has to be a huge stress factor, so maintaining or a slow loss can be good accomplishments.

Rie: Sounds like you have a good plan to train for the 5K. Hang in there and allow for a few slips in training. I'm thinking you will be fine with the race, even if the training plan doesn't go perfectly.

Somedaysunny: Good job with getting to the gym! It will get easier, the more you go. I do better when I just expect that I'll have some bad weeks, with less visits or even no visit to the gym. Just got to get back on track sooner versus later.

0pheliaphoenix: Hang in there with the tests. I was always a nervous test taker, as well. Going back to school has to be a huge stress factor, so maintaining or a slow loss can be good accomplishments.

Workinglikeadog: Hope your alternate exercise plan is working out for you and that deer season is over soon. California has it's own issues with safely walking in various areas, but 4-legged animals aren't what's generally at issue.

I hope everyone is doing well. I just updated my stats on the chart and some of you are doing really well :bravo:! I'm nearing the end of the beginning of the quarter madness so I'm looking forward to checking in more often and life settling down to a normal load chaos. Scale hasn't budged so I'll just be grateful it hasn't ticked upward.

Wishing everyone a great day!
