I swam 1500 meter this morning. I had craving last night, but just had some soup instead of binge eating.
I am a big fan of ice cream, but too many calories.Any suggestions of substitute?

ange82much 08-08-2018 06:14 PM

quick pop in - been away at a minesite for the last 10 days, and a couple of flights to take to get home today. I'll be very interested to see what the scales have to say when I get back because I've been eating a fair bit more than usual (basically I've chucked in another meal and eaten 4x per day - mainly because I've had to have breakfast at 5.30am, and i'm hungry again by 10.30!!), but I've been on plan with the choices (avoided simple-carbs, no sweet stuff etc etc, although there's been lots of unknown sauces/dressings etc on the things I've had). I feel like I've maintained, I think. If I have it's a massive win because I've eaten heaps more calories than when I was losing so would mean the metabolism is good etc. Friday will be the moment of truth (and no doubt hubby and I will go out for a drink or meal on Thursday night, just to throw a wobbly result in to the mix!)

Will write more personals later, but Rie - fantastic news that you're not pregnant!!!! Wow, I can remember those panic days myself (I've never wanted kids either), how awful!!! (have had the inplant thing now for about 12 years, so I trust it to do it's thing and no more worrying (apart from the fact I've got to be too old by now!)
kfunk - yay!!! great you're back here. Very excited that you're heading the right way again!
Joe - excellent work on all the exercise you're doing

Good Morning

This workweek has been really busy and I haven't be on top of my eating like I should. No sugar just grazing when I shouldn't. I need to do better today. I ordered a special dress I want to wear for my birthday in two weeks and it came yesterday. I had ordered it a size smaller that I normally wear to motivate myself to really get back on plan I love it and it fits perfectly however I want to really get it in gear workout wise to see if I can shrink my tummy just a little. This will be my first time wearing a maxi dress and I am so excited. I haven't worn a dress in years and it's great to feel and look normal wearing one now. Have a great day.

Riestrella 08-09-2018 10:59 AM

Hey everyone!

Today I weighed an all time low for my restart at 183.8 lbs! Woohoo! So happy to see it. I think it's because I worked out yesterday and actually ate the right amount of food. After I had my dinner at 6pm I was done for the day, even when bf was making popcorn I didn't ask for a small bowl like I usually do. I listened to my body and it told me that it wasn't hungry. :) Woohoo!

For anyone who's curious here's an update of my painting by numbers! I think it's coming together nicely, I was going to finish it all as is then go back and add more detail where I can and maybe paint over some of the colors. For example, there's a lot of yellow that from the original image I'm sure is supposed to be white, then there's a lot of purple that in the image looks more like a deep purple/navy colour. I'm still having a great time doing it and it is so relaxing!

My average for the week is slowly but surely heading down, I'm just 0.8 lbs up from last week but if I can continue these low numbers then I might even get a loss this week. I think if I remain on "plan" so to speak (I don't really have much of a solid plan, it's more "don't eat too much") then I can make it. We'll see!!

yangtzer - Frozen yogurt?

ange - Sounds like you've done really well while you've been away! I hope the scale is nice to you, but if you do indulge for that meal with your hubby then that will indeed throw in a wobbly weighing into the mix! My boyfriend and I don't want kids and after this scare he's seriously considering the snip, which is surprising but it would solve all our problems.

fungirl - I love the dress idea! I have 2 in my closet that I'd love to fit into! One I think I'll be good to fit into when I'm in the 150's, the other is probably going to be more of a 130's/140's type dress. It's nice to have incentives like that.

Jeny - Sorry you fell off the wagon, but you can get back on track in no time!

Lacerta - You can do it!!

Slight drop although I ate a bag of microwave popcorn for dinner with half a pint of Halotop. Sometimes my diet is completely void of nutrition. And I did cook for the rest of the family! I was just hungry earlier and then didn't want actual dinner.

Riestrella - I'm not a huge fan of homework either - mine did not have much in elementary but it does get ramped up in middle school. Luckily I don't find it excessive or meaningless for the most part. My daughter is does the vast majority on her own, but my son just started 6th grade and needs some guidance. It's just a hard adjustment coming from summer... & congrats on the good news! I think most of us women have experienced that fear.

(I hope everyone is doing well...I have way too much to do today to catch up on personals, but I will do that tomorrow.)

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile! I could have sworn I made a post on both of my daily threads on the 4th, but - apparently - I never actually posted them?? It's only showing the initial posts on the 1st. So weird! Anywho, between the kids going back to school and getting ready to go back to school again myself (for the first time in 10 years...this is going to be rough, lol), things have been insanely busy. I'll post the recap from last week, as well as the weigh-ins from yesterday and today, since I clearly haven't posted in awhile. With TOM being here in Week One, I only lost about 0.2 lbs all week with the fluctuations up and down...however, I seem to be catching up a bit the past couple of days. I have been lower on the water, so it could be a touch of dehydration, but I will take it for now! Which means -- unless I jump back up after rehydrating, of course -- I am officially back in the green AND have surpassed my ALL-TIME low weight of 167 lbs! :yay: I will wait until I know it's going to stick before I add a new dragonfly to my signature, but I'm happy for the small boost of willpower from it for today...I needed it after July being a wash due to vacation, lol.

Well, i'd call that Maintaining! I'm the same weight, to the decimal point, that I was when I set off travelling 10 days ago Not bad. The good thing here is that I felt to be eating a sustainable amount (i.e. what I put on the plate felt reasonable), and I also felt to be maintaining in myself (i.e. how my body felt - I didn't feel to have lost or gained weight physically), which hopefully means that i'm starting to get the hang of this thing :) Of course sticking with it and not gaining long-term is another challenge, but it's going to help if I have some idea what the baseline consumption looks like which is hopefully where i'm getting to at the moment. Perfect stuff, and i'm sat safely within my acceptable weight range for the month (and acceptable weight range for ever?....). Feel like a bit of indulgence is justified over the weekend before I have to get back to normal work again next week, and there's even a smidge of wiggle room for that!

For all those mentally wobbling a bit and getting sidetracked from your plan - I say, stop faffing around and just get this job done! It's so so so so so so so so worth it for how it feels afterwards!!

Ophelia - great to see you posting again and massive congratulations on being your lowest ever weight!!!!

Good morning everyone

Everyone sounds busy. Don't get down because you fell off the wagon. Dust off and get back on. I have had to do that many times and I'm back on the wagon again. I have been exercising as much as I can and really watching what I consume / drink. It helps that I got a cold and so we haven't been going to watch bands with friends and I haven't been drinking as I've been taking cold meds all day. But my husband pointed out that my belly seems smaller these days. I hadn't even noticed but I looked and I agree it is going down. Something I'm doing is working .... yeah!

Good morning and Happy Saturday,

Opheliaphoenix: Congrats!!

I am so happy this work week is over and it's this weekend. I decided a while ago to do something alone and just for me every weekend and today I am treating myself to the movies. I like to go early in the morning so I can really enjoy it with less crowds and disruptions. The rest of this weekend I will be going through my stuff and sifting out what I am keeping, giving away or throwing out. I am moving at the end of the month and I want a fresh start. That means letting go of a lot of stuff that I don't need to make space for new stuff. I also need to let go of my bigger clothes. I realized recently that I have been holding on to them as a safety net and I know it's holding me back. It's time to let it all go. My weight loss so far this week is what I expected considering that I had such a big loss last week. I know it was the sugar detox that really kicked into high gear and I am happy as long as the scale is going down. Off to get breakfast and then the movie. Have a good Saturday!

Lacerta- You are doing great!! I hope that work slows down soon!

nicoley- Crazy that the kids are already back to school, I am dreading when mine goes back in a few weeks because our schedule at night is already jam packed and adding in homework will push bedtimes back. I had Mcdonalds French fries for dinner the other night so I got a kick out of your comment about your popcorn dinner being void of nutrition haha!

riestrella- I cant tell you how many times I have been late and taken a test only to get my period immediately. Congrats!!! You are kicking butt, keep up the hard work!!!

joe- your workouts have been impressive, great job!!

ange- That is fantastic that you maintained while you were away!! Your advice to just get this over with is spot on, I don't understand why I am fighting it so hard.

fungirl- You have come so far, how exciting that you have a dress waiting for your upcoming bday!!! I love going through my things to downsize!! Can you share your diet plan?

jeny- I hear you on the snowballing effect, but I am glad that you are starting to feel like yourself again!

flower- keep on going, your effort will show up on the scales even if it takes longer than it should

raining- you are doing awesome this month!!

Ophelia- - hiiiii!! You are doing so well, its so nice to see you! Are you still calorie counting along with IF?

darius- Its nice to see you, how have you been??

wantochange- You are doing awesome! I hope that you feel better soon!!

I started the morning out on the wrong foot with a donut and donut holes. I need to fight the urge to throw away the rest of the day because of that.

Sure. I eat very low carb so my carbs mostly come from vegetables and fruit. My diet is protein based and I stick mostly to chicken, turkey and pork but have bacon and beef on occasion. I make food that I like so for tacos, I leave out the shell and substitute greek yogurt for sour cream. I have a go to dish called egg roll in a bowl. There are many variations on Pinterest. If I need some thing sweet, which is often lol, I stick to SF popsicles, Fudgesicles, SF pudding and Jellos. When I want some real ice cream, I go with halo top or Yasso Ice cream bars. If I want potato chips, I take shredded cheese and bake it on parchment paper with rosemary for a salty, crispy snack. Prep is the key. I plan and cook on the weekends for the coming week so I won't be tempted to go out for fast food because I don't feel like cooking later in the week. That's not to say that I don't eat off plan sometimes. Today, for instance, I am going to the movies and that means a small popcorn. It just means the rest of my day has to be clean eating, extra water to combat the sodium and an extra strength training session(just to make me feel better).

So I made it through what turned out to be the worst work week I've had in a while. The less said, the better, but just to give you an idea, last night after I got home, I ended up with a spider in my hair, and that was a highlight of the last few days. I couldn't even bring myself to go for my walk last night, because after the sun went down, it was still over 100. Topped out at 109 yesterday. Ugh!

After the emotional and physcial **** that was yesterday, I almost did a NWI today, but I braved the scale anyway. At least it wasn't up TOO much, but that weigh in was an hour later than usual, so it probably was worse than that, really.

So...232.2 is my starting point for the rest of the month. The good portion of the month.

I'm definitely starting to feel that lull in my workout routine, that tell tale feeling of "I don't wanna!" I need to ignore it, or I'll never reach my goal. Today I'm down to 183.6 lbs, which is wonderful! I didn't make the time to workout yesterday since I had a haircut, then I had to go get gas, followed by laundry which has me walking back and forth between our laundry room up the street. By the time I was done with errands I had checked out and wanted to relax. Not much of an excuse, but there it is!

Today I'm feeling so incredibly drained for some reason, I think I might have gotten too much sleep! I need to push through this laziness and workout. Wish me luck! Hopefully I can report back tomorrow saying I did it. :)

LACERTA - hugs from everyone in the group. Sorry you had such a tough week.

It's my 17th wedding anniversary and doing something different this year. Normally it's just the 2 of us going out for dinner but our friends thought it would be a great idea to have a group outing. One couple is returning to Canada for a week on Monday, one of the ladies in the other couple is having a birthday on Tues and the other couple just moved to Mazatlan in the fall and have been working hard and not meeting a lot of people and have joined our little group. I love this community. Everyone is so supportive of each other and really look out for one another .... but I digress ..... so we are going for Italian. I like pasta but I don't like the calories. The restaurant doesn't have a menu on line so I can't translate it or do calorie searches on google. But I'll avoid pizza and creamy sauces. That's all I know at this point.

Fingers crossed I don't wake up tomorrow with an extra 5 lbs!

Have a great day everyone

kfunk, Riestrella and wantochange: Thank you for the kind words. They are very appreciated. It wasn't a Huge spider, but in my opinion, there are no small spiders. There are big, huge and gigantic. This one was only big (about the size of an ant was all), but VERY fast. I've been bit and have 3 scars from spider bites I got at my sister in law's wedding, so I'm more spider averse than the average person. But in my hair is just NO. I was in the shower in about 30 seconds flat, leaving a trail of clothes behind me.

Ophelia: HUGE congrats reaching your lowest adult weight ever. That is a really big milestone and I'm so excited for you. I don't think I've been that weight since high school or maybe freshman year of college. You are doing amazing.

I should be able to get back to doing personals again for the rest of the month now. But since I'm like 7 pages behind, I'll just start from today. Stick with it, everyone.

So, not a new low, but definitely back in the right direction. That puts me the lowest I've been this week, anyway, and almost back to where I was on the 1st. Right direction again. Onward and downward for the rest of the month. Come on 220s.

Weigh in today. To my surprise,I gained 4 lbs this week. I don't know why. I've been eating clean and exercise every day:( it's much easier to gain weigh than lose it especially when I'm getting older.

fungirl- Thank you for sharing your diet plan with me, no wonder you have done so well!! I used to eat tacos without the shell a lot and I should incorporate that back into my rotation. Swapping sour cream out for greek yogurt is a great idea!! I have been at this for so long that I am having trouble remembering what I ate at the beginning. I hope that you had a great time at the movies!!

lacerta - I am glad that your horrible week is behind you now! eeeek, a spider in your hair, how tramatizing... I am itchy just thinking about it! Great job braving the scale!! Nice drop today, you are so close to the next decade!!!

flower- Hi!! I hope you are having a nice weekend and enjoyed your hike!!

gardener joy- Thank you for adding me to the list and nice drop!!

riestrella- I hear you on that workout lull, I get that often once I start a routine. It has been a while since I have worked out though. I hope that you are getting some relief from your TOM. And doing laundry and walking down the street multiple times counts as a workout in my opinion!!

wantochange- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! I hope that you enjoy your dinner out!!

joe- I wouldn't worry about the jump up on the scale, it is likely water retention from all the exercising you have been doing! Keep at it and it will start to move down!!

I forgot to weigh in this morning, but I am sure it would not have been good if I had. My bad breakfast ended up setting the tone for the rest of the day. I snacked on peanut butter filled pretzel bites and then we went out to eat and I ate a large meal and then we had ice cream for desert. The 15 lbs. that I gained back feels like 50, I feel so gross. I sound like a broken record at this point, but today will be better!!

Fungirl28 08-12-2018 10:38 AM

Yes...that's correct for me

Fungirl28 08-12-2018 10:59 AM

Lacerta: That is a tough week and I am so sorry about the spider. I hope this week is much better.

Ristrella: I have been struggling with the "I don't wanna's" too when it comes to working out. It's tough to push past that.

Wanttochange: Happy Anniversary!!

Yangtzer: Maybe the gain is muscle mass if you've been doing strength training. When I first started strength training I would put on a few pounds every 3 weeks or so but I would lose inches.

Kfunk6113: Anytime! Check out pinterest...there are tons of keto recipes on there. I had a great time at the movies...just what I needed.

Rie - nice drop!
Gardenerjoy - good job on your drop as well
Lacerta - so sorry to hear about your week and the spider - hope this week is better for you
ophelia - congrats on your lowest weight!
kfunk - my hike was great but quite tough - it was straight uphill for almost 2 miles, then it leveled - coming back was great
wanttochange - happy anniversary:)
fungirl - glad you enjoyed the movies
yangster - it's frustrating when you're eating well and exercising but don't see a loss - maybe the loss will show next week.

My eating was pretty good and I hiked/walked a little over 32 miles this week. My weight is the same as it was a week ago so all the walking I'm doing is not having any effect on my weight?

Unfortunately I don't get to tell y'all that I pushed through and worked out yesterday. It was just a meh day overall. I felt so heavy and drained all morning, but I pushed myself to go outside and take a small walk. Then when the bf got home from a meeting, we went on a longer walk together and I started to feel my energy get back up. I was stupid when he called me from the store and offered to get me a snack, I asked for peanut M&M's and started eating them like they were chips because I had one heck of a sugar craving. Then I decided I wanted salt and had some pretzels. Bleeeh. Bf made dinner for us, drunken noodles, so all that food in my belly made for (gross details alert for the rest of the paragraph!) one awful poop later that night. I get what my mum calls "gut rot" where we'll eat a combination of foods and get horrible cramps that come out all sloppy and stinky. The only good thing about it is that except for the lingering pain in the intestines it feels sooo good to get it all out. Sorry to get graphic on y'all, does anyone else have experiences like this?! It only happens when I eat terribly, another reason to stick to healthy food!!

This morning I was up to 184.4 lbs, which is much much better than what I was expecting in all honesty. One NSV is that despite my stomach still feeling hard done to this morning, I pushed through and did a workout! Even though I'm a workout behind, since I wanted to do 4 this week to make up for my vacation next week, I'm still happy that I pushed through what I would usually use for an excuse not to do it.

Because of my high weigh in's earlier in the week my average this week ended up being 185 lbs, so a 0.2 gain from last week. If I discount those weights my average would be 184.2 lbs, which is a step in the right direction PLUS I'm happy to be seeing the occasional 183 lb weigh ins too. Overall for August I've only lost 0.3 lbs, so I've got 2.7 lbs to go if I wanna make my 3 lb goal. Not sure if I'll make it, as next week from Thursday - Sunday I'm gonna be on vacation visiting a friend. I won't get the chance to be super active since I'm there to just chill and hang out (she has a tiny living room as well so I can't do my Insanity there), but I'm going to try and cram in my workouts Monday - Wednesday. We'll see though! They're intense so I don't wanna push my body too much.

wanttochange - I couldn't resist and looked up pictures of Mazatlan, it looks beautiful! Congrats on 17 years of marriage :D You will probably gain a little if you indulge, but life is going to throw those moments where you will give in to temptation but it's all about getting back on track afterwards!

Lacerta - I'm so sorry you've been bitten so badly before!! When I was living in Colorado, I was about to do some yoga in the basement and I grabbed the mat and threw it across the room to unwrap it. To my horror, a HUGE and FAST spider ran out of the mat! We later identified it as a wolf spider  I've been scarred for life every time I grab my yoga mat  No where near as bad as a bite but there's one of my spider stories ;) Eee, you're so close to 220's!! Go go go, you can do it! Sometimes it takes time, but you are definitely in the right direction :)

kfunk - Yeah, especially since I live on the third floor too  I definitely wasn't sedentary so I guess I can be happy about that. First of all, you are NOT gross, ok? You've regained some weight, but don't let that weigh heavy on your conscience. See this is a fresh start. I let the 38 lbs I regained over the years get to me and the guilt only sent me in the wrong direction. What started at 10 lbs regained turned into 20, then 30, then almost 40. So I'm a big advocate of give yourself a break, breathe in and out and just try again. You can do it!

Fungirl - Congrats on the drops you made this week!

flower1 - Have you been hydrating? Do you stretch after your walks? That's a lot of miles, your muscles might just need a breather! What about your protein intake? I'm sure your efforts are paying off, you just need to make sure you're refueling and hydrating and also resting! Rest is super important to weight loss too.

yangtzer 08-12-2018 05:14 PM

thank you for your kind words. I guess I have to stick with my plan:)

kfunk6113..don't get discouraged. try to look at the big picture, you've lost almost 100 lbs, should be proud of yourself. do you have a cheat day once a week? so you can eat whatever you want.Nothing is perfect in God's perfect plan.

Fungirl28..wow,you've lost 125 lbs, congrats, you will sure have a beachbody by the time of your cruise. are you going to western or eastern caribbean?

flower1..congrats on the 32 miles. maybe the loss will show next week. do you have a fitness tracker to track the steps?

Lacerta..congrats on heading to the right direction. btw, I saw that you live in Idaho. are only potatoes grown in Idaho can be called Idaho potatoes. Why is Idaho good for growing potatoes?

wantochange..congrats on the anniversary. what did you have at the italian place?

Riestrella..congrats on pushing yourself to go outside. I am sure you'll see better results next week. how do you like "Insanity"? are there two DVDs for cardio and strengh training?

gardenerjoy..thank you for putting this thread together. are you in the maintaince phase? is it any different than the weight loss phase?

Lacerta 08-12-2018 08:44 PM

yangtzer: It's funny, because despite the fact that I'm a 3rd generation Idahoan, I'd never even seen a potato field until I was in my 30s and still wouldn't recognize one from the road. City girl, through and through, but besides that, they are grown more in the east part of the state, much more than over in Boise, where I live. "Idaho Potato" refers to Russet potatoes grown in Idaho, but there are Russet potatoes grown in other places, from what I understand. Meh. Why would I eat someone else's potatoes, when I've got some of the best in the world right here?

I"m not a farmer, but my understanding for why Idaho is so good for potatoes (and farming in general) can be summarized in one word: Volcanoes. Volcanic soil is very rich. We've had a lot of volcanoes here, historically (Yellowstone's trail goes right across southern Idaho) and astronauts used to train in Craters of the Moon here, which is volcanic also.

I believe that, in the US at least, most french fries and restaurant baked potatoes, as well as many potato chips, come from Idaho. You're welcome, and I'm sorry they taste so good that they are addictive. :)
