Hi everyone. Nice to see so many people signed uo for the challenge. I haven't done a weight loss challenge since May but I've been more or less maintaining for the past 2 months. Since July I've been concentrating on increasing my activity level. Now I want to challenge myself to try again to lose my last 10 pounds.

Rest day for me. I've been eating clean and exercise every day for a week now. Not easy for me especially after letting myself go for a long time. So proud of myself. Hope it gets easier next week.Joe

I have been good the last few days and I plan on carrying that on. I have even gotten back into working out. I used to do an hour every night. That seems so long ago ..... mind you that was when I was working and at home watching tv every night. Now I'm retired and out having fun and hardly watch tv anymore. Finally, I’m in the 150’s... currently 159. Lost 2 lbs so far this month. 4 more to hit my targeted goal for August. The weather has been nice so we have been able to walk 2 times a day. Start to notice my clothes are fitting better.
Tomorrow is our cheat day& I’m not sure if I should eat a coconut donut. I have been craving it all week, but not today...I guess I will decide tomorrow when the time comes. |

Thank you Lacerta! Today I start back at the gym and I am excited. One of my favorite way to challenge myself fitness wise is participating in Obstacle course mud runs. I started doing Rugged Maniac back in 2014 at 375. It is a 5K with 5 obstacles and a ton of mud. The first time was miserable and painful but I went with a bunch of co-workers and I wanted to finish...and I did. It took me 4 1/2 hours to walk the course and I complete 6 obstacles. I did it again in 2015...I was about 395 but I also trained a little. So I completed it in 3 hours and completed 9 obstacles but I was in pain from beginning to end. I did not compete in 2016 because my knees were injured nor did I do it in 2017 because while I felt fit I was only one month out from surgery and my doctor felt that I was not physically ready for that. This past May I was finally able to do it again. I was 130lbs lighter and stronger. I had a BLAST! I completed 19 obstacles and I finished just under two hours. And the best part...while I was tired I was in no pain. Not even the days following. I felt like superwoman The only obstacles I could not do were the ones that depended on upper body strength...since I have none. I have already registered for next year's race and I want to started work on my upper body strength. My goal for the next race is to complete all the obstacles. Have a great day every one! Oh boy, where do I begin.
It's been a terrible weekend for weight loss. Saturday started well enough. I did a workout that I missed on Friday and was feeling great! My bf and I went to go get lunch to treat ourselves since his Dad sent us some money to do so. We're living that pay check to pay check life so we never go out to eat, so we were excited. We went to a BBQ place and crushed a combo meat sandwich with a side and some iced tea. That was it for the day, I thought. But no. That night I hung out with my friends and had a tiny bowl of gyudon that I did not need along with some boxed cake that they made for funsies. I didn't need any of that, I was still STUFFED but kept on shoveling food into my mouth. I did manage to stay on top of water, but the next day (Sunday) I saw 185.6 lbs. Not terrible, but certainly deserved that gain. Then there was yesterday. Guys, I just had a complete meltdown. I swan dived off the wagon. I went out and bought a frozen pizza, just an awful chemical filled thing of grossness that for some reason I like and ate the whole thing to myself. Ugh. I'm so disappointed with myself. Plus I barely drank my days worth of water so today I'm up to a whooping 187.2 lbs!! Now, logic kicked in this morning, I know I haven't eaten enough to actually gain 3 lbs in the space of 3 days, but it's still a horrible way to start the week. Needless to say, I'm hoping I don't have another snap like that in a while and learn my lesson. I'm sure I'll fall off the wagon again at some point, but I think being a part of these forums has helped me realise to not just forget that those days happen but to learn from them and make sure to avoid it in the future. Here's to hoping I can stay on track this week and get back to losing weight again! I'm disappointed that I messed up my average for week one with this splurge and no doubt affected my average for week two as well. However, I have to stay honest and not fudge the numbers. This morning didn't go as planned, as my 20 year old was sick with flu-like symptoms. Hoping that it's better tomorrow, because as of 6 o'clock this evening, she is still achy and running to the bathroom!:yikes: I'm praying me and my hubby don't catch it because we leave on Wednesday for the Lake of the Ozarks for a 5 day trip. Staying with friends who own a 3 bedroom condo (it's nice to have friends that share their toys!) and a huge boat. We will be boating most of the weekend. There's also a party Saturday night, so I am packing my workout videos and good shoes so I can hopefully get a workout in while down there. I don't want to go the whole time without burning some of the calories I know I will consume.

Ok... I did a cheat day. Not sure if I will do “a Day” again. I gained 3 lbs. I even walked 2 miles, but what did I expect eating 2 donuts & a medium stuffed crust pizza. I’m not going to lie, man was it good! I don’t feel like I stretched my stomach, but I’m sure I did. I think in the future, if I cheat it’s going to be a meal instead of a day.
I only did the day, because some of the ladies at work keep telling me to do a cheat day. They do the Keto diet and their cheat day is more like a binge day. I want to keep it realistic for me. I take Açaí berry extract to help with my ADD and today it didn’t work. My mind was all over the place, I could not focus on anything...other than the tree frog on the window for 3 minutes. Hopefully it’s because of the carbs and tomorrow will be a better day. Tomorrow WILL be a better day! |

Nice to be heading back in the right direction today with 186.6 lbs, a 0.6 lb drop. I worked out yesterday but had a bit of a bad day with eating here and there when I didn't need to. I've decided to try and give some veggie based lunches a try that aren't salads and stayed up a little bit looking at pinterest for ideas. I found a couple of things I wanna try, like burrito bowls and roasted veggie dishes. I'm going shopping on Wednesday or Thursday so I'm gonna try at least one and try and get a few recipes into rotation to start replacing my sandwiches.
On a more concerning note, my period is late. I was due on the 1st and tomorrow will make me 1 week late. I'm trying to stay positive and chalk it down to being active again has somehow messed up my cycle, but worst case scenario I could be pregnant. I'm not having children, it's a decision that both my husband and I are firm about, so having to handle that situation is going to be stressful and expensive when we don't have much money to our names right now. I'm going to take a test over the weekend since from what I've read people say take a test 10 days after a missed period to get an accurate result. Really happy for a few reasons - one, I'm not pregnant - huzzah! Crisis averted. Typical that 6 hours after I shell out $20 for a test that's when I start showing signs of my period.
Second reason to be happy is today I weighed in at 184.8 lbs, which is a 2.4 lb drop from earlier this week. My average is still higher than last week, but I'm thrilled that I'm back on track and seeing 184 lbs again! I run in the winter/spring/autumn months. momtopands - Sorry to hear you went off plan for a while, sometimes it's hard when we break routine just once to get back on track. But you can do it! kfunk - Hello and welcome back! Lacerta - :hug: Sorry to hear you're having a rough time at work, it's so hard to stay healthy during tiring and stressful situations. You can do it though, don't be too hard on yourself, the fact you went on that walk is an amazing thing!! Well done! nicoley - Cooking is wonderful, but it is a time commitment and sometimes it's so much easier to get something ready made. It still amazes me that homework is a thing, I never remember a time when homework benefited me in any way! Studying for an exam, sure, that was useful, but I never felt like I understood a concept better by doing homework. I'm ranting, forgive me :lol: I'm just very tired of our education system.
