kfunk6113: Yay for the pregnancy! Feel free to stay along with us. You wouldn't be the first to use this thread for a carefully controlled gain during pregnancy, when that's deemed healthiest for you. I can put + in front of a number as easy as -.

Hey all,

KFunk I am ready to go back home and try my plans out for myself.
One thing is I am not going to walk 4.6-5 miles a day I am going to start doing run/walk 5ks 5 days a week.
I hope to eventually get up to running a 5K.

Hey guys!! I'm still alive, I swear! I just realized that it was the end of the month, so I wanted to make sure I came back to wrap everything up for August. I've been staying on plan calorie-wise, but I'm still stuck in that same 3-4 lb range plateau. Weigh-in today was 167.2. I have been a lot more lax with the exercise, though, so I'm hoping that - if I start getting more on top of that again - things will start to move again soon. I don't have a full month overview to post, since I haven't been tracking weights on the daily like I usually do, so I will just post the top part that is the general recap:


July 31st Weigh-In: 168.8
Month Goal Weight: 162.0
August 31st Weigh-In: 167.2
Total Month Weight Loss: 1.6 lbs.


So, at least I ended the month lower than where I started - especially considering the ups and downs throughout the month - but, I'm hoping September will be a little more fruitful! See you guys on the next thread!


(P.S. A huge congrats on the pregnancy, kfunk!!!! )

kfunk I didn't weigh for a couple of days after the 4-day weekend, but when I did I was only about 1lb up, and I lost that in the next couple of days, so I 'got away with it'. This is in contrast to the weekend before when I had 2-3 days off but stacked on 3-4lb's and it took me another 5-6 days to lose it - so the message is that I do gain if I eat too much, but it's not entirely predictable how much or how long it will take to lose again. I think it's important for me to weigh regularly at the moment to get a feel for all this so that I can get a handle on what's a normal fluctuation (and if things change from there then i'm probably actually losing or gaining properly).

What's your plan for the 9 months then? I see you're targeting maintenance for September - Is there a recommended gaining schedule for the rest of the time? (I've never had kids so I've no idea what's supposed to happen when!)

kfunk, that is the very best NSV of all!

South Beach is how I eat for the most part. When I was at my highest weight and decided I needed to do something about it, I literally had forgotten how to eat right. I saw an article on SB in a magazine and started following the sample days from that and then eventually got the book for more ideas. After all those years of my mom trying to get me to eat my veggies, now I finally do.

Also congrats to gardenerjoy, unwanted, ange, on meeting your goals. Lacerta and darius, wow, you two really rocked this month! Riestrella, awesome job keeping in the 183's, you're doing great. Nice to see you, ophelia, a downward trend is always worth celebrating.

Riestrella, that is too funny about your mom and the dreaded pasta bake. How awesome you are starting running again, good going! I can't wait to see your new painting project, those look so fun. My fingers and toes are starting to cramp up here, hope your boyfriend hears good news very soon.
