July Exercise Challenge

Let the energy of flashing fireworks and heady independence motivate our exercise in July!

State your exercise goal and track it throughout the month with this supportive group of fellow exercisers. We'll compile our workout goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.

This thread is for fitness and exercise goals. For other weight loss goals, be sure to see our sister thread: July Weight Loss Challenge

Right, i'm going to join you this month. I've not done an exercise challenge before - that's because I haven't been doing any exercise! Time to change.
I normally take the dog out twice a day for 20-30min each (or hubby does it occasionally if i'm away), so dog walking isn't included in my monthly exercise because that's a 'normal' activity.

My target's for July are:
1) Do knee strengthening exercises that i got from physio, at least 5 days out of 7
2) Do at least 2x cardio sessions per week in first two weeks of July, and 3x per week in second two weeks of July
3) Start regular push-ups/core exercises

Think the cardio is going to have to be bike riding initially as I don't want to stress out the knee too much.

Good to see you here, ange! Looks like a great, well-rounded exercise challenge you've set for yourself this month.

I'll definitely be in for this month too, just gotta figure out what to make my plan. I'll likely need to do my DVD's but I'm still considering other options...

Tabbycat 07-01-2018 11:10 AM

gardenerjoy 07-01-2018 11:55 AM

I'm aiming for 1200 minutes of exercise in July.

Chunkahlunkah 07-01-2018 12:25 PM

My goal will be 19 DVD workouts. I'll also continue keeping my workday steps high, but I won't be tracking that part here.

Good luck, everyone! :exercise: :strong: :bike2: :swim: :running: :yoga:

My goal is 650 minutes of exercise for July. This will mostly be dedicated to marathon training, and I'm not going to count steps/walking throughout the day, mowing the lawn, yard work, recreational swimming and other incidental exercise. My willpower for exercise while working isn't great, I convince myself I'm too tired. Hoping this challenge will help light a fire under me.

Hello Everyone!

I'm going to join you :)

My goal is to do something every day in July. Some days it may be a workout DVD or Zumba class and some days it will be just 10 minutes of stretching.

I am still searching for workout classes I enjoy that are close enough to my house!

Goal for the month ~ do something every day in July

7/1 ~ Intro class at Club Pilates
7/2 ~
7/3 ~
7/4 ~
7/5 ~

July 1st: Bike ride, physio exercises, 2x dog walk

First day down and a start has been made! Dusted off the bike and cycled to Centennial Park and did a lap and cycled back. Probably took around 40min. Ooohh a bit hurty from the saddle! I can tell it's been a while...

Great job Ang! I'll get home late tomorrow. It will be a quick stretch and I'll post again Tuesday :)

July 1st: Bike ride, physio exercises, 2x dog walk
July 2nd: Physio exercises, 2x dog walk

Was on the verge of going out for an exercise-walk with a friend last night, but then I canned it because my knee was hurting again. Not sure whether that's due to the bike ride or the ramped-up physio, but want to treat it gently right now. Turns out that it was belting it down with rain all the time that we would've been out, so I definitely wasn't wishing I was out there, although it's never as bad when you're actually out as you think it would be when you're snug inside.
