May Challenge to Stay on Track and Avoid Binges

Looking for companionship and support to make it through a whole month of staying on track by avoiding the binges that prevent us from losing weight. I have been up and down the scale for years. I manage to lose the weight, but let it slowly creep back up within a couple of years. The day after New Years I was at 209. I have made it to 195.5. I want to keep it going and am hoping we can inspire each other to make it happen. I am personally tracking pts with WW and using my apple watch to meet excersise and activity goals.

Today's weight: 195.5

B - Quaker weight control oatmeal and a cup of blueberries
L - Tuna, hard boiled egg, one tbs of mayo, spicy brown mustard and pickle relish with 5 crackers.
D - Tacos with lots of lettuce and tomatoes
Exercise - Turbo Jam

Personal goal for the month - Get to 190!

boatingmommy HI!! I struggle with binge eating and it is so difficult for me to get out of that mindset sometimes. I had a planned "cheat" meal on Friday night and I did relatively well, did not binge. Then Saturday rolled around and I lost all control and that continued throughout Sunday. 8 lbs. later... here I am, sigh. I have lost about half of it after getting back on track right away Monday morning. I have 2 Saturdays in a row that will contain an off plan meal and I am so nervous about my all or nothing approach.

A little bit about me.. I started losing weight the day after Thanksgiving in 2016 and weighed in at 256. I cut out gluten and alcohol and since then I have dabbled with many different ways of dieting. I counted calories for a while, carbs for a very short period of time, and now I am on WW.

Tacos sound really good, I should add the ingredients to my grocery list!! Have you ever heard of "Ole Mexico" tortillas? They are 1 point each and actually really good! I bought mine at Target, but haven't seen them there in a while, but my friend says they are at Walmart too. I miss oatmeal, but I need to add in a ton of brown sugar to mine and I am sure that would send my points through the roof!!

You are doing really well and its nice to see someone else also doing WW!!

boatingmommy 05-02-2018 08:32 PM

kfunk6113 - Welcome! Looking at your ticker...I am in awe! That is fabulous! I can so relate to the weekend weight gain! It is so frustrating, especially when I know what causes it. We like to go out with family and friends on the weekend, drink a few adult beverages...which sometimes is a few too many! I don't want you to think that we are serious drinkers with a problem, but alcohol is sooooo bad for dieting and maintaining. I have been working the past month on just picking one evening on the weekend to have a couple of drinks, instead of a couple Friday night, Saturday...oh, and don't forget on Sunday on the patio while grilling. YIKES!

About me...I came to this website years ago and lost a ton of weight. Then I got busy with life and packed some of the pounds back on. In late 2013/early 2014 I got back down to 152 from about 198. I was doing so well...then I totally derailed myself. And here I am again!

Thanks for the tip on the tortilla's. I am always looking for low point substitutes.

Okay, I finished Turbo Jam Cardio party #3 before sitting down to the computer...I literally have rivulets of sweat pouring off me. Time to shower and crash in my recliner!

GettinFit 05-03-2018 08:28 AM

Good morning Boatingmommy and Congrats on your weight of 195!

Thanks for starting the May thread. I have been super busy these last two days and I can't log onto the site as much at work right now. For some reason, I'm also having trouble getting access to our Wi-Fi with my iPad.

So far this month has been pretty good for me. I've walked 1 day and I plan on walking after work today. Eating has been decent too. My WW session ended yesterday and I'm thinking that I may join outside of work this time. I will be going on a cruise on the 20 so I'm trying really hard to lose a few pounds before leaving so that my cruise clothes fit.

kfunk6113 - Welcome to the challenge and I hope you have a successful month of May.

kfunk6113 05-04-2018 08:32 AM

boatingmommy and gettinfit Thank you for the welcomes!!!

boatingmommy I can not wait until I am at goal and I can drink beer again :D I had given it up because I seem to retain like a mofo and also would find myself getting into the snacks, plus I gave up gluten for a year. I like your idea of trying to pick a night to drink instead of 3. Wow, the last time you were here you did amazing! I can't wait to see 152 on the scale, it has been YEARS!! Turbo Cardio Jam sounds intense, bravo!!!!!

gettinfit Way to start of the month strong, that is awesome!! I do WW online and have one month left before my 3 month term expires. I have never been to a meeting though, I bet that would be even more inspirational! A cruise sounds fantastic!!!

I want to post my food daily, I really like that idea, so thank you!

Yesterday: 19 points
B: 1 tbsp. coffee mate SF Italian sweet cream = 0
1 tbsp. Hershey's chocolate creamer = 2

Good morning and Happy Friday Boatingmommy and kfunk

kfunk: It's nice to have another WWer join us in the challenge. WW works really good for me when I follow the plan so I'm planning to stick with it and I'm going to rejoin a meeting. I really like the group support. I am finally getting my mind in the right place to stick with the program. Last month was very stressful for me but things are getting better :)

Boatingmommy: I hope all is going well with you.

Today should be an easy one for me to stay OP. I'm working from home today so I plan on getting out at lunch time for a walk.

Today's Log

B: Coffee, watermelon
S: banana, 1/4 C peanuts, pineapple, mango
L: Tortellini w/pasta sauce
D: shrimp, veggies
Exercise: Walk

boatingmommy 05-04-2018 09:37 AM

Good morning, Ladies!

kfunk6113: Yes, I am a total bloat queen when drinking beer, and then I work all week to get that bloat back off. It stinks! It is Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, so I'm saving my drinks for a few margaritas. My friend is doing a taco bar, but she is also doing grilled chicken since she is watching her calories, too! I wish all weekend events were with someone who is also dieting, it would make it so much easier! I am going to take a fruit salad. I keep seeing the recipe on facebook, so I am going to give it a try. I have never been to a meeting either. I like the website and then checking in here for support.

GettinFit - a cruise sounds so awesome. We did one in February on the Norwegian Escape. It was amazing and we had lots of fun with the group of 10 that went. Where are you heading? Good luck with finding a new WW group.

Well, we are heading out camping for the first time this year. Usually we are at the campground earlier, but with the remodel stuff, we just didn't have time. Plus, Illinois weather has been a beast this year! I'm packing some healthy stuff and planning ahead. I think the worst thing on the menu is the pork steaks, but I'll try and get some walking in to make up for that! I'll be out of commission on here until I get home Sunday! Hang in there ladies! We can do this!

Today's Weight: 194

B- Quaker weight control oatmeal, 1/2 cup blueberries - 4 pts
L- Can of tuna in water, 1 hard boiled egg, 1 tbs light mayo, 2 tbs pickle relish, spicy brown mustard, 5 saltines , apple - 5 pts
D - 4 ounces of pork steak, grilled asparagus 8 pts

No exercise today except running errands and cleaning house and camper

kfunk6113 05-07-2018 08:42 AM

Good morning ladies! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend!! I made it through the weekend without binging!! I was very worried that I would end up binging because we spent the entire day at Mall of America for my daughter’s birthday, but I did awesome!

Gettnfit I am glad that things are less stressful for you this month. I really love the WW program! At first I was unsure if I would renew because we are trying to conceive, but decided that I will pay month to month instead of getting the 3 month discount.

Boatingmommy- YES, the exact same thing happens to me!! I used to be afraid to enter maintenance, because I was worried I would gain everything back, but at least I know that I can indulge on the weekend and as long as I am careful during the week I will get back to where I was. How was the Cinco de Mayo party?! Fruit salad sounds awesome, and it is always a huge hit with people! Is the Quaker oatmeal flavored?

boatingmommy 05-07-2018 09:17 AM

Good morning from Illinois! Well, I'm not going to lie and say I didn't binge a little this weekend. However, I did make sure that i really put in a good workout to counteract bad decisions. Camping was wonderful, and we also got to boat all afternoon on Saturday. I packed the super low cal beer for our relaxation, so that was better than usual. I was a little pissy though, on Saturday. I got up and talked myself into a power walk around the campground. Halfway through my walk my iwatch ran out of power, then I couldn't get my walkmeter app to work on my phone because of no signal! So, I don't know how many calories I burned or how far, I just made sure I walked for about 45 minutes full steam.

Yay Kfunk6113 for staying away from the binge! I have always wanted to see the Mall of America, but haven't made it up there yet! Yes, the quaker weight control oatmeal is flavored. I like the maple flavored with blueberries mixed in, or I sometimes make the Cinnamon and chop up an apple with 1/4 cup water and microwave for 3 minutes, then add the oatmeal. It's not too bad. It keeps me full for a while. Cinco de Mayo was fun...the margaritas were yummy! It was a good time with friends we hadn't seen in a few months.

GettinFit - Hope you had a great weekend! I get to work from home a couple days a week, too! It really does make it easier to meal plan. Hope you are having a good Monday morning!

I hope both of you have a great day!

B - Cottage cheese, Egg scrambled with chopped mushrooms and onion, V8 low sodium - 6 pts
L- Chicken breast deli sandwich on 2 slices health nut bread, lettuce, onion and pickles, apple - 7 pts

GettinFit 05-07-2018 12:04 PM

Good morning ladies from Georgia! It's a beautiful day here.

Boatingmommy: I''m glad you enjoyed your camping trip. That sounds like so much fun. Many many years ago when I was in Girl Scouts we did a couple of overnight camping trips. This trip we are going to Cuba & Mexico on a 5 day cruise. We usually do 2-3 per year. I've only done Royal Caribbean & Carnival. We're booked on a 7 day in Dec as well. I'm not too worried about gaining weight because when I went in Dec, I lost a pound. I stayed away from sweets and I worked out most days.

Kfunk: Great job on surviving the Mall of America. I'm sure that had to be tempting.

I did pretty good over the weekend with my eating. The best I've done in a long time. I even went out to a Mexican restaurant on Saturday. I had a few chips with Salsa and I ordered a grilled chicken & veggie meal. I brought most of it home in a to go box and I ate off it yesterday and am finishing it off for lunch today. Some how I hurt my knee so I wasn't able to walk over the weekend nor will I be able to today. I'm hoping that it feels better by tomorrow because I so want to go walk.

Today's log:
B: Chobani Greek yogurt, banana, coffee
L: Grilled chicken breast w/onion, mushrooms, spinach, 1 cup reduced fat mashed potatoes, 3 Hershey Kisses
D: Lean Cuisine
S: WW Popped crisps
Exercise: Rest

boatingmommy 05-08-2018 08:55 AM

Bbbrrrr! I left all the windows open last night and now I am sitting here shivering at the computer. It's going to be gorgeous later, though, so I'll live with it for now. My tummy was growling right before bedtime last night, guess I burned off a few calories more doing Turbo Jam. I had a tablespoon of peanut butter cause I was craving something sweet. Then I checked to see how many points are in peanut butter...dang! Oh well, I had to have something.

Working from home today and hope to work out at lunch. Hubby and I are going to see Avengers Infinity War tonight. So, the plan is to keep the points for lunch small, because popcorn will likely be my dinner. I know, I should just say no, but I HAVE to have popcorn at the movies!

GettinFit - I have to admit that our camping isn't roughing it by any means. My 5th wheel has better fixtures and appliances than my home. We started out tent camping many years ago, and then slowly went from tent to pop-up, from pop-up to travel trailer...and now we have a 40 ft fifth wheeler. My mother says "That's not camping!" and I agree, but we go often enough and it's nice to be comfortable. Our recent cruise took us to Cozumel, Costa Maya, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. We love Norwegian because of the freestyle dining and I never hear about their ships in the news.

kfunk6113 - Hope you are having a great morning!

Weight today: 194.5

B - 1/2 cup small curd cottage cheese, hard boiled egg, low sodium V8 - 6 pts
L - 2 slice health nut bread, deli chicken meat with lettuce and pickles and spicy brown mustard, apple - 7 pts
D - Popcorn -??? All my weekly points

Excercise - Turbo Jam

GettinFit 05-08-2018 09:25 AM

Good morning ladies,

Boatingmommy: Well that's my kind of camping. I love the outdoors and that sounds like so much fun :) Go and enjoy your popcorn tonight. That's the good thing about WW, you can fit those treats in every now & then.

All is good with me and I'm plugging along. Yesterday was a pretty good day for me except because I hurt my knee I couldn't workout. It is doing much better so I may try an easy walk route today. I am finally excited about my weight loss again. Going shopping and trying on clothes really motivated me.

kfunk: I hope you're doing well and I hope you all have a great OP Tuesday!

Today's plan
B: Oikos Greek yogurt, 1 RF cheese stick, coffee, banana
L: Healthy Choice dinner, 3 Hershey Kisses
D: Watermelon, pineapple
S: WW Cheddar snacks,

kfunk6113 05-08-2018 01:22 PM

boatingmommy It sounds like you had a lot of fun camping!! Boating all day on Saturday sounds amazing to me!!! Great job getting in good workouts while you were there! I super wish I would have worn my fitbit on Saturday, we walked so darn much that we were all pooped out trying to get to the car. I will check out that oatmeal! When I was counting calories I was having a double serving of regular Quaker Oats with brown sugar and cinnamon and it was delicious but it would be way too many points the way I like it! My friend found some refridgerated peanut butter from Trader Joe's that is 3 points for 2 tablespoons and only 1 point for 1 tbsp. Its called "Better'n Peanut Butter" its low sodium and very good, I can't tell the difference! Even though your peanut butter had some more points I think that it was a really good choice for a snack in that situation!! I hope that you enjoy the movie tonight!! Popcorn is my fav!!

gettnfit You did really well this weekend!! I love Mexican food, way to make your meal last! I hope that your knee feels better really soon

Yesterday: 16 points
B: coffee with my normal creamers = 2

OMG, I must really love eggs! Pretty soon I am going to grow feathers.

kfunk6113 05-09-2018 08:41 AM

Good morning ladies, I hope that you are having a great start to the day!

Yesterday was a bit odd for me food wise. I woke up and didn't feel well so I went back to bed to see if I could sleep it off. I didn't wake up until almost noon and because of that I wasn't hungry enough to eat a normal dinner.

Yesterday: 20 pts
B: scrambled eggs with salsa = 1
Coffee with normal prep = 2
2 pieces sara lee toast w/ peanut butter= 5
L: peanut butter cliff bar = 10
Coffee with normal prep= 2

boatingmommy 05-09-2018 09:36 AM

Good morning ladies! I am running late today. Didn't get much sleep due to crazy aging cat! Slept too long, now I have to run out the door!

kfunk - Hope you are feeling much better today! Maybe just a quick bug?

GettinFit - I know your knee is better soon! Take it easy on it.

GettinFit 05-09-2018 01:12 PM

Hello ladies,

Been a crazy busy day for me and I'm just getting a chance to check in.

kfunk: I wish I liked eggs because there is so much you can do with them. Ever since I was a child, I didn't like them. I have tried to eat just egg whites but I can't stomach them. I just realized how much you have lost!!! OMG you have done an awesome job. Did you do it all on WW?

Boatingmommy - Hope your day is going well and I hope you can get some good sleep tonight. How was your movie night?

Today is going okay with me. I didn't go to the At Work WW meeting today because I didn't renew because I am planning to renew to a traditional meeting after my eTools expire on 5/22. Therefore, no weigh in. I've been doing much better with my eating and still haven't worked out due to the knee. I'm giving it one more day and will try a light walk tomorrow.

Today's Log
B: Greek yogurt, banana, coffee
L: Chicken wild rice soup, 1/2 pc cornbread, 2 cookies
D: watermelon, pineapple
S: None
Exercise: None

kfunk6113 05-09-2018 07:17 PM

boatingmommy I hope that your day got better as it went on. It is the worst when you don't get a restful nights sleep, hopefully tonight will be better!

gettnfit I hope that your walk tomorrow isn't too hard on your knee. Thank you! I just started WW to shake things up and help me lose my last 30 lbs. Before that I cut out gluten for about 1.2 years and I cut out most alcohol and processed foods, just basically cleaned up my diet... it was pretty bad before!!

I just overate at dinner. I was perfectly content and went back for chips and dip, so I am sure I will see that on the scale tomorrow.

Today= 18 points

B: scrambled eggs and 2 tbsp. salsa = 1
coffee with normal prep = 2
banana
L: 2 pieces sara lee bread, 1 tbsp. peanut butter and 1 tbsp. raspberry jam = 4

1 oz of tortilla chips and 2 tbsp. salsa = 6

GettinFit 05-10-2018 09:19 AM

Good morning ladies,

Kfunk: The knee is feeling much better today. That is another reason for me to get some of this extra weight off. I have never had any issues with my knees. I absolutely love walking and I want to be able to continue to do this as I get older.

Hopefully you won't see much of a gain this morning :)

Boatingmommy: I hope you're having a good day.

Today I'm working from home so eating will be good and I plan to do a light walk or WATP video today.

Today's plan:
B: Coffee, banana, 1 RF cheese stick
L: Lean Cuisine, WW Snack bar
D: Tuna on a Bagel Thin,
S: Watermelon, pineapple
Exercise: Walk or WATP Video

boatingmommy 05-10-2018 09:23 AM

Ugh! I had this post almost finished and then the site kicked me out and I got the "awe snap!" message!!! So, here it is again!

Yay! Two more days of work and then the weekend. Weekend plans: Work on landscaping, clean boat, wax camper, finish installing shower and sink, shampoo carpets. Oh, and mother's day is at my house!!! Work isn't sounding so bad right now!

GettinFit - Hope you find a WW meeting that is to your taste. Extra support is always a good thing! It seems like you are eating very few WW pts daily. I get 23 and I eat all of them just about everyday. Otherwise I am starving Marvin.

kfunk - Damn those chips! I have some chips, guacamole and salsa set aside for mother's day...going to need a shock collar to make sure I don't eat too many!

Today's weight: 193.7

Good morning ladies and happy Friday:carrot:

I'm so glad it's the weekend.

Boatingmommy - I hate when I've typed a nice long post and I lose it. Sounds like you have a busy weekend ahead of you! You should be earning lots of activity Point:)s At night I usually fill in the missing Points with something. Last night it was 2 glassed of wine :dizzy: Believe me, I use all that I get.

Kfunk - I hope you're doing good.

I still haven't gotten any walking in this week. Hopefully, today I can get in 30 mins after work. I'm trying really hard to lose an inch or two before my vacation week after next.

kfunk6113 05-14-2018 09:00 AM

Good morning ladies!

Do either of you have any insight into the reasons behind your past binges? I had gone for months without and then it was like a switch had flipped and they are occurring way more frequently. I know that I have been feeling burned out and that was why I switched to WW in the first place. I feel so close to goal, but yet so far away. I can’t figure out why I am sabotaging myself like this.

Today is a new day though and I will fight on.

I hope that y'all had a wonderful weekend

boatingmommy 05-14-2018 09:05 AM

Okay...It's monday again...and I didn't do so good this weekend. Too much beer that'll have to be worked off! Ugh, I am so mad at myself for not being smarter. I'd blame it on the boating and sunshine, but that's lame. How did you ladies do?

GettinFit - How is the knee doing? I hope it's better and you can get your walking in. You'll be doing a lot of walking on your cruise, too. I was amazed at the size of our ship on our last cruise and all the walking we did on board. A good glass of wine sounds like a great way to use points!

kfunk - Hope you enjoyed your busy weekend. They go by too quickly!

Okay...back to the old drawing board!
Weight - 195.3
B - Cottage cheese and two pieces of bacon
L - Panda express - steamed veggies and pepper chicken.
D - Spaghetti and salad
Exercise - Turbo Jam

GettinFit 05-14-2018 04:00 PM

Hello ladies,

Sorry I'm so late checking in but it's been a crazy day for me at work. When I started in this position 5 years ago there were 5 of us and now it's just me! They say they will hire someone to help me but not soon enough for me.

Kfunk yes that is exactly what happens to me. I was cruising along with my plan from in July until the end of January. I started binging and haven't fully recovered yet. When I get back off vacation, I am going to recommit to a meeting as that seems to help me. Hang in there because you have come so far.

Boating Glad you enjoyed your weekend :) My knee is so much better and thanks for asking. It's almost back to normal. I feel very motivated to get my weight down because I know I'm carrying too much weight right now. I did do a little walking on Saturday but not a full workout like I usually do at Stone Mountain.

I like the larger ships over the smaller ones. This one is very small because only the small ones can get into the port in Havana. In December we'll be on Oasis of the Seas and I love that one. That's when I will have trouble staying on plan.

My eating wasn't too bad over the weekend but I didn't track (shame on me).

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies.

kfunk6113 05-15-2018 08:19 AM

Boatingmommy- I also had too many beers and the fallout from that was huge! I think we posted at the same time yesterday so I won’t bore you with details, but my weekend was a train wreck. The weekends are so hard! I have the desire to sequester myself until I am at goal, but that isn’t fair to my family.

Gettnfit – your job situation sounds very stressful, hopefully they will fill some of the positions soon. I noticed that I was losing steam last October and have been struggling ever sense. I get so mad at myself because I likely would be done by now if I had just buckled down, but it is much easier said than done. You leave pretty soon for your vacation, right? You must be so pumped!!! Your plan for when you come back sounds great!

Yesterday was really good for me and I plan on the same being true for today. I have NO problem doing amazing on the weekdays, it’s Saturday and Sunday that are the problem!

boatingmommy 05-15-2018 10:54 AM

Morning ladies! Okay, sounds like we three are struggling. I wish I had the magic wand that would fix that, but it is such a real struggle. My husband and I are very social people, and boating and camping season is just getting started. I am determined to get this weight off, but a lot of our lifestyle revolves around social events with food and beverages. So, I am going to have to work harder.:kickbutt: I really want to be down to 175 for our Disney trip in September. Going to have to focus on that. I am sending you both big hugs and lots of will power!:dust:

Weight :195.8
B - Cottage cheese, Blueberries - 3 pts
L - deli chicken breast, one slice health nut bread, tomato, lettuce, pickles, broccoli and grape tomatoes, Babybel cheese - 5 pts
D - Spaghetti, Prego, salad and dressing - 11 pts

boatingmommy 05-16-2018 09:17 AM

I'm up and at 'em! Hope everyone else is, too! We finally have our bathroom done, and our list of things outside to do is shrinking. It's time to drop that stress and focus a little more on working out. For the past couple of months we get home from work and tear out walls, floors and put them back up. By the time we'd get done each night I was usually too tired for anything else. Now I'm hoping to get a little more focused exercise in. I was closing my rings on my apple watch because I guess remodeling burns calories, too! Now I'd really like to work a little more on some problem areas, namely my gut. I need to try some different exercises and I've been looking on line. Have either or you seen anything interesting?

I hope you both are having a good morning!

Weight - 194.0 TOM arrived
B - Hard boiled egg, cottage cheese, V8 low sodium - 5 pts
L - chicken salad and 5 saltines, pineapple - 9 pts
D - Taking daughter shopping - will try and find something healthy on menu.

kfunk6113 05-16-2018 03:12 PM

I hear you boatingmommy, it is harder for me this time of year too for that exact reason. Disney sounds like so much fun!! We are going to start planning a trip there for some time next year!! That is huge that you are finished with the bathroom, what a weight off of your shoulders. How does it look?!?! I really enjoy the 30 day shred DVD, it’s a big old but I always get a really great workout from it. The best part is that it is so short! They focus on ab work in it too!

I have been sticking to the plan and since Monday have managed to lose 5 of the 9 lbs. I gained over the weekend. I am hoping that the other 4 come off that easy, but won't get my hopes up!

I hope y'all are doing alright, its quiet in here! I am still sick so have no appetite, but also haven't been drinking as much water as I would like either.

Good Evening! I just came in from outside because the mosquitoes are eating me alive. The tree trimmers came yesterday and took down our big, old soft maple and trimmed up a couple of others. They cleaned up as much as they were paid to, but we have been hauling and stacking wood the past couple of nights. I have crippling arthritis (the kind where your hands look like someone broke every finger off, and then glued them together wrong). All that has made me a little achy, but I still did my Turbo Jam earlier to make sure I closed my rings.

kfunk - Yes, the bathroom turned out exactly as I wanted. It is painted two shades of blue and full of coastal charm. We have a brand new glass enclosed shower. The one in there previously was a 1970s round shower, made of fiber glass that never looked clean no matter how I scrubbed. I hope you get to feeling better, soon! Did you get a bug of some sort? Not having an appetite is GREAT...unless it's because you are feeling puny. I'll have to check into the Shred video. I have 3 turbo jam dvd's that I love even though they are old. I bought the PIYO videos, but with my arthritis, it was near impossible without pain. I may try them again when I get more weight off.

GettinFit - How are you doing, chickie? Hope you are doing well and getting all pumped up about your vacation.

Stayed on plan today. Went 8 pts over, but have plenty of weekly points to use. Had a 1/2 cup ice cream... bad for me...but very yummy. I haven't had ice cream in a long while.
Tomorrow is weigh in for me...it's TOM - so not too optimistic even though I worked out every day since Sunday. I do notice a little less flapping of skin when I'm working out, so that's a plus.

kfunk6113 05-18-2018 08:48 AM

Happy Friday ladies!!!!!!!

boatingmommy That is awesome that your bathroom turned out the way you envisioned, it sounds beautiful! I am sorry to hear about your arthritis. Do you get relief ever, or are you constantly in pain? I am in awe that you are still so active even though you have a good reason to take it easy! I hate mosquitoes!!! I have had a very sore throat, aching ears, aching body since Wednesday. I felt feverish Wednesday and Thursday but today I am just weak. I don't get sick with these symptoms often thank goodness!

I am down to a new low of 160 but I will likely see a bounce back up after I get my appetite and water consumption back up.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend!! I will probably pop in and post for my own accountability.. no binges this weekend!!!!!!!

boatingmommy 05-18-2018 09:06 AM

Yippee!!! The weekend is upon us...and oh no... the weekend is upon us. I have mixed feelings...glad to have time off, but scared that my eating will go awry. I'm going to try sooooo hard to keep the beers to a very minimum, and watch my eating on the boat.
kfunk - Sorry about the illness! Sounds like you got it bad. Hopefully, your immune system will kick it's butt soon and you'll be better. I don't normally catch too much stuff, either. Too many years seeing little kiddos that I've built up a pretty good tolerance. With my arthritis the pain comes and goes. Some days it's a constant dull pain in my hands and joints, other days seem better. I don't take any medications...mostly because I don't want to get started on that (not to mention the cost of prescription drugs!). I manage. I find that working out doesn't make it any worse, so might as well get moving. Yay on the new low! You've done sooooo well with your journey!

GettinFit - Hello out there??? Stop in soon!

Weight today sucks - 195.1 I know this is going down as soon as TOM is done, just wish it would drop RIGHT NOW!

kfunk6113 05-20-2018 01:20 PM

boatingmommy I hope you are having a nice weekend and not drinking too many beers like you had hoped! I love your attitude regarding your arthritis, its inspirational to me. Its awesome that you are able to manage it without medications! I hope that you get a nice whoosh after TOM leaves!!

So far the weekend has been pretty good for me. We went to my inlaws yesterday and bbq'd for lunch. I did a really good job stopping when I was starting to feel full instead off eating more because it was so good. I went 7 points over yesterday but that was the first time I dipped into my weeklies all week so had plenty to spare.

boatingmommy 05-20-2018 09:47 PM

kfunk - The weekend is at a close...and once again I am dreading the scale. I tried to watch myself, and I managed to get my exercise in...but those devilish beverages were too tempting. We worked around the yard today and my hubby smoked some chicken and ribs. I only had one rib and enjoyed the chicken. There's plenty left for the week. No beers today, but I'll be paying for Friday and Saturday.

I have to be up and out the door super early tomorrow. I have a conference in Southern Illinois, so I won't get to post until late. Have a great start to the week!

It sounds like you did really well! Any ups on the scale likely are water related and should be out of your system in a couple days. I hope that your conference goes well today!!

gettnfit Good morning, how have you been doing?

kfunk6113 05-22-2018 08:53 AM

Good morning ladies!! I hope you are doing well.

Yesterday was a good day, had a few points leftover and even managed a workout!

boatingmommy 05-23-2018 09:08 AM

Hello! I am up and working from home today. Lots of paperwork to catch up on after a day of conference and then a day of going on visits. I hope to finish packing my camper this evening and doing a Turbo Jam. I am packing my good walking shoes and even a workout video or two for our weekend. Tomorrow I get up early and head to the office for a full day of school meetings, then I am meeting hubby and 8 other couples at the campground. We will be without computer until Monday, so I'll not be able to chat. My goal for the weekend is to get up each morning and get some sort of exercise in - close my rings on my iwatch. That way I know I will have at least burned 600 calories and that's at least a few beers. We have a large pontoon boat and everyone will be on it this weekend. I packed a pineapple and cantaloupe, and am picking up a veggie tray today to snack on while boating. There will also be deer sausage, cheese and crackers, but I'm going to do my best to stay away from them. I only bought light beers - still bad, I know - but better than the stuff I like that is way higher in calories! Do you have any Memorial weekend plans?

kfunk - Good for you on the leftover pts and workout. What is your favorite way to exercise? We have a great walking track here, but I haven't been using it as much as I should.

GettinFit - Come back! We miss you!

Okay...today's weight 193.5

kfunk6113 05-23-2018 11:30 AM

Boatingmommy- Wow, you sound super busy!! Your upcoming weekend sounds amazing! I wish that my husband and I had that many friends to go boating with! I find I really like being around people now that I am regaining confidence from losing weight. Your plan for getting in your exercise early sounds great, should set a positive tone for the day! What kind of light beer did you buy? I drink light beer and love it, and miss it! I like your snack options as well as I am a huge fan of pineapple and cantaloupe!! You know, I don’t think that we do have plans.. we will have to throw something fun together! Memorial weekend sure snuck up on me this year! Saturday we are going to my neice’s 3rd bday and I am not sure what will be on the menu, but plan to do what I did last weekend and should be fine.
If I am honest I hate exercising, but I am hopeful that might change some day. I like the 30 Day Shred because it is really difficult and short. I also enjoy walking on the treadmill while watching TV. I don’t watch TV outside of that so it is kind of fun to catch up on shows that peak my interest!
Congrats on your weigh in, good job!!

kfunk - making last minute preparations and thought I would check in. Got most stuff packed and ready for a long weekend. Good thing is there's a couple of health nuts with me.. they will guilt me into being a better person. We are lucky people .. .we have friends that we have camped with for many years. Our kids were all about the same age at the time we started. Unfortunately , or not...none of our kids were the baseball, summer sports kids type of kids. So, we camped without having to go back to town for ball game or special events. I wish i had made my kid more involved in sports. She has lots of weight issues. Ok... don't want to start thinking about all the ways we should have done this or that.

Ready as I can be for the weekend. Hope you have a great one too! If you don't want to exercise...find a game to play outside on the picnic table or just enjoy some time together. Hang in there girl!

kfunk6113 05-24-2018 08:39 AM

boatingmommy Friendships like that are so valuable!!! it definitely helps that you have some health nuts that will be with you!! For what it is worth I think you made the right choice letting your daughter pick her own path without forcing her into sports that she didn't have interest in. My 7 year old daughter is a sport nut, she LOVES it!!! Hockey is the sport of choice, but she will be starting soccer this summer and has a lot of interest in playing ball as well. My 4 year old son just started T ball for the first time and he HATES it. He is just not athletically inclined and that is okay!! Things may change as he gets older, but if he doesn't want to play sports we will find alternative things for him to get excited about, just like you did with your daughter.

I ended up doing the 30 Day Shred last night even though I really didn't want to! I have been working late and am very tired, but I am super pumped that I did it. I charged my fitbit and will be wearing that to challenge myself to get in my steps!! I hope that you have a fabulous weekend!!!!!!
