January Exercise Challenge
New Year, new exercise goals! Let's get moving in 2018!
State your exercise goal and track it throughout the month with this supportive group of fellow exercisers. We'll compile our workout goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration. This thread is for fitness and exercise goals. For other weight loss goals, be sure to see our sister thread: January Weight Loss Challenge |
Tabbycat here.

My goal for January is 675 minutes of Intentional Exercise ( I like that term, Tabbycat!) The snow shoveling is mandatory for our daily living but I don't want to count it towards my goal.
Each year that goes by, I am concerned less with 'how do I look' and much more towards 'how is this workout going to help with my daily life'. As EagleRiverdee said in a different thread, overall fitness is what helps you in daily life. Strength for bringing in groceries, doing yard work in the summer, moving furniture around to look for the dog's lost toy, oh yeah and carrying that darn 40 lb. vacuum cleaner up the stairs :D Flexibility for things like climbing around the interior of your car when the doors are frozen  or having to climb up and into a window of your house when you're locked out, or plunging through deep snow to get to your friggin recycling bin :D Stamina for being on your feet all day at work and feeling up to it. and the things we can't see, like our heart being exercised to be fit and strong, our lungs, the circulatory system that is bringing nutrients where they need to be, gee I could go on and on, right? :D |
I'm going to set a goal for 900 minutes of any type of exercise again. That's been my goal the past two months, I've not achieved it yet, but I know I can! I'm going to keep trying until I make goal. :)

Getting started anew this Year. My goal for this month is 500 minutes of exercise(boot camp home exercise/walking)
|
VermontMom: thanks for expressing exactly what I want to get from my exercise in 2018!
January goals: 1200 minutes, 15 DVDs 1: |
I let exercise fall to the wayside for most of November and December. :( I was prepping doctoral applications, and they were a huge time suck. More than the time issue, I had a last minute minor crisis with a couple of my letter of rec writers. That was so stressful, that the last thing I wanted to do was exercise. When really, that should've been the first thing I did! I must learn to keep exercise in my schedule even when life gets busy and stressful. That's my number one goal for this year!
My exercise goal for this month is working out with my exercise DVDs 14 times. I better get to work on that today. :D |

My goal is to get through week 4 of my C25K program. Already started week one. I am expecting to repeat a few weeks due to it being freakin hard.
I also need to get my steps in everyday, and the P90 program I am working on. That's enough for now.:dizzy: 1/1- Week 1-C25K, P90 sweat, got in all my steps 1/2- p90 sculpt, 1 mile walk, seps all done 1/3- p90 sweat, week 1 C25K, steps all done 1/4- had to rest, big fibro flare from all the exercise. I am going to cut down for a while 1/5- week 2 C25K- did amazing, felt so much better after a rest. 1/6- treadmill 25 min brisk pace, got all my steps in 1/8- Week 2-C25K, running in 30 sec intervals, p90 abs 1/9- got my steps in- barely 1/10- C25K- week 2/2- killed it, p90 abs missed a run because I was sick 1/15- week 3/1 C25K, taking it easy for the rest of the day and tomorrow, having asthma issues 1/17- week3/1 C25K, went out despite the snow, made running alot harder, but did it anyway 1/19- week 3/2 C25K, roads are still slippery, choe a new route which was fun. Am now up to 3.27 miles 1/22- week 3/2 C25K, running was a little harder today because I didnt sleep well. Otherwise, I killed it. 1/24- week 3/3 C25k, ran a new route that I swear was all up hill, even going down! I made great time and am proud that I made it. I know I couldn't have done this a month ago. |
