  • Back for another of these challenges. Hoping I can actually finish one this time, let alone be in the ballpark of my goal.
  • Dropping out for now. Perhaps I can get my act together and join in soon.

Best of luck to everyone on this challenge!
  • I'm in and my information has been added.
I hope nobody minds. The 4th was my weigh-in day at work (I am currently in 1st place for both the week and total!), so I entered that weight for my beginning weight. If it's not okay, just let me know and I will change it to today's weight. (-3 lbs)

  • Hi EVERYONE!
Thoughts and prayers to those who are dealing with hurricanes. Stay safe! When hurricanes and tornados hit, I'm glad I live in earthquake country, but that is just until "the big one" hits.

I didn't have my Fitbit on yesterday, while volunteering at the horseback riding center. Interesting how seeing the numbers on the Fitbit can be a reinforcement. If it wasn't for my aching knees, I'd almost think I didn't get in any exercise yesterday, lol.

It helps to document, acknowledge and reflect upon our accomplishments and our failures (so that we can improve). Mindfulness is a good thing. I need to reflect upon my week and then post about it later today or tomorrow. I know I have lots of opportunity for improvements.
    How is everyone else doing?

Congrats on losing 70 pounds. Hope you get lots of respect from the scale for you next weigh in!

Congrats! Tell us about your newly adopted 3 kids. Are they of the human variety or furry kids?

  • Just joined the challenge

I had made it down to 157lbs back in June but a summer's worth of vacationing and goofing off has taken its toll!! My goal is to get back there. Good luck to everyone!
  • I'm excited to join this challenge... It'll be the first I've ever done! I'm not sure if I did it correctly, it seems like the first time I inputted my info in week 1, I somehow saved the document to my own computer instead of updating this one? Anyway, we tried again this week, with my weights from last week and this week. I'm keeping a journal of my own, so it was easy to add.

Just put your starting weight in the first block. If need be use the same weight as in Week 1. That way the amount lost and percentage will automatically calculate!
  • shortsarcastichobbit ~ BTW, fantastic job!!!!
  • Hey guys!

Sorry I've been quiet, I'm leading up to a big vacation to Japan so I've been working hard on tying up all loose ends for the projects I'm working on. I had such an awful week of eating last week! Our friends treated us to a meal because we're looking after their dog for a while, plus the video game my boyfriend has been working on for the past couple of years was released last week too, so while it was a wonderful meal it was very fattening. I only ate half of it, but that just meant that I had it again the next day >_>. Oof! Delicious though. On the 9th it was my 8 year anniversary with my boyfriend, we're both super busy so we didn't do much unfortunately. We did get a pizza, however, and he bought me loads of junk food as a present too. All in all, a terrible week for nutrition!

I was weighing in at 176 lbs last week, so I started to get a little panicky, but this morning I was VERY relieved to see 174.4 lbs. Phew! I've been eating my usual amount of food and drinking lots of water so glad to see the weight begin to drop. On the 18th I will be gone for 2 weeks since I'll be on vacation in Japan! So unfortunately I won't be able to do the charts in that time, I'm sorry! When I get back I'll resume as normal.

I'm actually hoping that I'll lose some weight in Japan, I know, what a crazy thing to say right? Losing weight on vacation, what IS that?! However I'm going to be walking around every single day, which is so much more than what I do at home. Plus I've got some amazing hiking adventures that I've planned, so that'll be a nice workout while I'm gone too. Japanese food is less greasy than the type of food I would treat myself to in America, so I'm hoping that might have some impact in weight loss too. BUT, I'm not going to EXPECT my weight to drop and just have fun! We've been saving for this trip for 2 years, and even though we're struggling with money right now (living pay check to pay check) it's going to be so nice to not worry about money and just live for a change. We barely go out any more because we don't want to spend, so I think we both really need this vacation.

I'M SO EXCITED! Plus, I get to see my good friend get married . Woop woop!

When I get back I've got some big plans for myself! I'm going to run my second 5K race in December, it is decided! I've found one that will be happening on December 16th so I'm going to do Hal Higdon's 5K Novice training and sort out my workout routine again. I've been a big fan of the C25K format, however, I think I need a swift kick up the butt so I want to get the distances in instead of the time. I'll still probably do a run/walk method, but I'll be sure to push myself. I think I can do it! After that I'm aiming to run another 10K next year and then hopefully lay the foundation down over next summer by doing T25 (for realsies!) then start Half Marathon training Autumn 2018. It might sound crazy to think SO far in the future, but when it comes to weight loss I find having races to look forward to/train for really helps me. So fingers crossed this time next year I'll be beginning a Half Marathon adventure. WE'LL SEE, RIE, WE'LL SEE.

    Week 1 Chart everyone!

    Ah. Thank you!!
I got lucky with when the challenge began; I just started the MF program. Seems like the "whoosh" effect has taken place! I'm steeling myself for the slower weekly weight losses that I've been reading are more normal.
  • I'm in, if you'll have me. I've had a bit of a problem finishing challenges this year, I'm totally out of motivation but working on determination right now.

  • Hi Everyone! How is everyone doing?

Congrats to everyone for their accomplishments! I didn't accomplishment much last week, so I have lots of opportunities. This is a challenging time of year for me, as Summer comes to to a close, and the days get shorter. My appetite increases and I'm more prone to stress eating.

I'm looking over my habits in order to make adjustments. It's so easy to slip out of good habits. My eating times need adjustment, as well as my exercising times. Got to start earlier and finish earlier. Also, need to manage my evening snacking better.

I've had a problem with my Fitbit bracelet falling off, without me noticing it. One time, it came close to going into a wood chipper. It fell among piled up tree branches, that a tree trimmer had just cut. I was just trying to help carry branches to the vicinity of the chipper. Another time, it fell behind a chest of drawers, after I reached for something else that fell.

Each time, I wasted a lot of time searching for my lost Fitbit, as I had to retrace my steps and think of possible places it could have fallen. I had some little loops that I used with a prior Fitbit that kept falling off. I'll have to try and find where I put them and give one a try. My Fitbits have never had much longevity. I either lose them or something goes wrong.

    Have a good week everyone!

    RIE:
Your trip sounds exciting. Have a wonderful time!

  • Rie, thanks for the chart and enjoy your time in Japan! Your exercise plan sounds smart and fun. I can definitely see how lining up races for future dates keeps momentum going.
  • munchey - I'm glad you found your fitbit! I've never owned one, but I'd like one.
  • Hey guys!

Yesterday started out good but ended poorly. I succumbed to our emergency buffalo chicken wings we get whenever we have people over. The plan was to have a big lunch (leftover Japchae) and then just have small lunch type snacks for dinner. It was going well until I start getting cramps and felt sorry for myself. A habit that I definitely have had for a long time and I'm aware of, yet desperately need to break. Just because I'm having my monthlies does not entitle me to eat junk food! That's my mantra, as well as many others

Luckily this morning the scale was only effected by 0.1 lb, so I went up to 174.5 lbs. Phew. Dodged a bullet there. Gonna drink loads of water today and not be naughty. I've got a couple of work things to do today, like go to a meeting and finish up a project, but after that I'm going to be freeeee until after my vacation! A typhoon is going to be sweeping through Japan over the weekend, we set off Monday but land Tuesday, so fingers crossed the typhoon is gone by the time we land. From predictions I'm seeing online it seems to be the case? Still keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm going to lay out all my clothes to pack tonight or tomorrow and slowly begin the process. I like to be very prepared! I also want to see if we need one suitcase or two...since I know I'll probably end up buying a lot of souvenirs! Eep, so exciting!

munchey - Sorry you keep losing your fitbit! Is there another type of band you could bet that is less prone to falling off?

    chunkah - Thanks!!
