July Exercise Challenge
Let's explode with exercise in July!
State your exercise goal and track it throughout the month with this supportive group of fellow exercisers. We'll compile our workout goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration. This thread is for fitness and exercise goals. For other weight loss goals, be sure to see our sister thread: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chic...challenge.html |
I'm starting up another round with Brazil Butt Lift, my favorite workout routine from a few years ago. My goal is to use it several times a week. I'll state my goal as 18 workouts with BBL.
I'll also be walking several times a week, but for simplicity's sake I'm only going to track my BBL exercise in this challenge. Good luck, everyone! :carrot: July 01: Completed 1/18 :) July 02: 02/18 :) July 04: 03/18 :) July 05: 04/18 :) July 06: 05/18 :) July 08: 06/18 :) July 09: 07/18 :) July 12: 08/18 :) July 13: 09/18 :) ~~ Halfway there :D ~~ July 14: 10/18 :) July 15: 11/18 :) July 18: 12/18 :) July 19: 13/18 :) July 21: 14/18 :) July 23: 15/18 :) ~~ Down to the final 3 until goal :D ~~ July 26: 16/18 :) July 27: 17/18 :) July 28: 18/18 :) ~~ GOAL! ~~ July 28: *BONUS* Beachbody T25 Cardio July 30: *BONUS* Beachbody T25 Speed |

Hi, everyone!
I'm going to copy Tabbycat and go with 1200 minutes for July. |
Hi Ladies,
I have a dumb question! I want to bite the bullet and join my first exercise challenge, and do the 30 day shred. Does anyone know if you take a day off to let your body recover or do you do 30 days consecutively? I am sedentary so my goal is going to be simple, no giving up, whether I do all 30 or not. I am going to take measurements and do before and after pics! chunkahalunkha I am so curious about the Brazilian Butt workout... is it a long workout? Do you see pretty good results? I used to have a nice round butt, but at the time I hated it because I thought it was too big. Now it is a pancake and I long for the butt I used to have! 7/1 |
Hi kfunk - I'm a big fan of BBL. I naturally have legs that are thicker than I'd like and a relatively big booty for my frame (I'm ok with that last part ;)). I never believed it would be possible for a workout to alter my natural shape, but back when I did BBL a few years ago, it actually slimmed out my legs considerably. I got better results using it than I have from anything else. My butt got slightly rounder too, but mostly it just got more *pow* because with thinner thighs it looked more pronounced.
I highly rec giving it a try sometime. They have a plan that's designed for adding volume to a flat booty. I bet your round booty is just waiting to pop out again! ;) The workouts are mostly around 35 minutes, except for a full body sculpting that's, I think, about 50 minutes. Back when I did a couple rounds with it, I didn't even follow any of the plans, but instead just did my favorite workouts. Even with doing it my own way, I still got results that I hadn't believed my body was capable of. Sorry to sound like an infomercial. I just really love this workout! :D I'm currently out of shape so not yet able to do the full workouts. I'm doing the 10 minute workout that comes with it called Bum Bum Rapido. After two weeks of this, I'll give one of the longer workouts a try. :) |
Miles so far:
July 1: 2.44 miles July 2: 0.86 miles - got about 1/3 of a mile in on our usual evening route, and doggo heard fire works and then bolted in the opposite direction. Luckily I had a good hold on her leash or she'd be gone. She's a rescue dog, so I'm always exceptionally patient with her. Got down in front of her and talked to her, reassured her I wasn't going to let anything hurt her. We got home without incident, but she'll be hiding out for the rest of the night, and the next few days will be **** for her. Better luck tomorrow! July 3: July 4: July 5: July 6: July 7: Week 1 total: 3.3 |
Yesterday's walk marked a whole year of daily exercise for me!
kfunk6113: I did the 30 Day Shred in 60 days, a few years ago, by doing it every other day. That worked well for me. July goal: 1200 minutes 1: 30 walk; 30/1200 |
July goal: 1200 minutes
1: 30 walk; 30/1200 2: 50 yard work; 80/1200 |
July 1: 2.44 miles
July 2: 0.86 miles July 3: 1.09 miles - we've solved our fireworks issue for now. I don't work til this afternoon today, so we did a 1 mile walk this morning when we woke up. Would've gone 2 miles, but I live in Denver and it was already 80 degrees at 9am this morning. Will try for an evening walk once I get home at 7:30pm tonight. Week 1 total: 4.39 |
gardenerjoy: Congratulations on your year of exercise! :dancer:
jrkessle: That is far too early in the day for it to be that hot! Way to go getting that first mile in though! |
RunningRedHead it'll be in the 90's all week here. Luckily it's dry heat, but it's still too hot for my fur-partner if it's above 80. I'm off at 7 tonight, so I'll try to take her for a quick walk before any fireworks start so she doesn't freak out again.
|
July 1: 2.44
July 2: 0.86 July 3: 2.19 - I got home around 7:15 tonight and we went out immediately and did our 1 mile loop. We made it all the way through without any firework noises - so pup did good!! Tonight is the main night for fireworks in the area, so once the sun goes down it's going to be a rough time for the doggo. Week 1 total: 5.49 |
July goal: 1200 minutes
1: 30 walk; 30/1200 2: 50 yard work; 80/1200 3: 40 walk; 120/1200 |

2: weights 3: walk 4: weights 5: was supposed to walk today, but I had a doctor's appointment and really didn't feel up to it afterward. Next time I'll exercise first. 6: nothing :( 7: 30 minutes slow walking 8: 30 minutes interval walking (I did 15 minutes in the morning and another 15 minutes later in the evening.) 9: 15 minutes interval walking and 15 minutes fast walking 10: nothing :( 11: 15 minutes interval walking 12: 15 minutes interval walking 13: nothing :( 14: 15 minutes interval walking 15: 15 minutes interval walking and 12 minutes very fast walking (Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk) 16: nothing :( 17: nothing, foot hurt :( 18: 15 minute Leslie Sansone walk |
July 1: 2.44
July 2: 0.86 July 3: 2.19 July 4: 0 - I ended up staying at work for an extra 90 minutes tonight and training some coworker's. didn't get home til 8:30 and there were already people messing with fireworks. I had drag doggo out the door to go potty. I'd been at work for over 10 hours so she needed to go, but I had to force her out. I'm off work tomorrow, so we're gonna get up early and get at least a mile out of the way around 8am. And another mile or two tomorrow evening. Week 1 total: 5.49 |
July goal: 1200 minutes
1: 30 walk; 30/1200 2: 50 yard work; 80/1200 3: 40 walk; 120/1200 4: 30 walk; 150/1200 |
Woohoo! So, as I mentioned, for exercise I'm doing Beachbody's Brazil Butt Lift. I've been doing the short workout on it that's only 10 min, planning to give one of the longer workouts a try after a couple of weeks. Well, today I accidentally started up one of the full length workouts. Rather than stop it, I decided to give it a go. I was able to complete it! :D I did modifications on the tougher moves and didn't get in as many reps as the people in the vid b/c I was slower. But it was still an intense workout. It feels fulfilling to be progressing. :)
I have to get blood drawn tomorrow. I expect that to mess up my energy levels quite a bit (I'm slooooowly recovering from anemia), so I'll probably need a few days off from BBL. Just when I was getting good. ;) |
July 1: 2.44
July 2: 0.86 July 3: 2.19 July 4: 0 July 5: 1.47 - AM walk & 2.44 evening hike with new Camelbak hydration daypack Week 1 total: 9.4 miles |
Yay, Chunkahlunkah on the longer workout!

Thanks, gardenerjoy! I even decided to delay my blood test one day so that I could enjoy another day with BBL first. :D
|
Jrkessle: I find that I struggle more getting out and walking if it’s too hot for the pup. On the days that it’s too hot I think I’m going to swim laps instead and the pup can run around in the yard instead of walking, until it cools off again. Glad to hear your pup did well with the mile loop the other day.
Chunkahlunkah: Way to go! |
RunningRedHead she is a Rez dog from an Indian reservation in New Mexico that I rescued from a local shelter here in Colorado in may 2016. She has super bad anxiety, but she's gotten way better since I adopted her. Fireworks will probably always be a fear of hers unfortunately. But she loves our walks! We did 1.91 miles with our neighbor and her dog this morning and both dogs had a blast.

Are you adjusting your exercise due to summer heat? We're going to have a high of 95 degrees today. I think it will be wise for me to get my walk completed this morning while it's still in the 80s.
July goal: 1200 minutes 1: 30 walk; 30/1200 2: 50 yard work; 80/1200 3: 40 walk; 120/1200 4: 30 walk; 150/1200 5: 30 walk; 180/1200 6: 60 walk; 240/1200 7: 40 walk; 280/1200 8: 40 walk; 320/1200 |

gardenerjoy - A high of 95, you have my sympathy! I hope you've been able to get your walks in before the heat hits hard. On my days off, I wake up around the same time as my work days, before 6 am. It works out well because I ride my bike then to avoid the heat later in the day.

July 1: 2.44
July 2: 0.86 July 3: 2.19 July 4: 0 July 5: 3.91 July 6: 1.23 July 7: 4.53 Week 1 total: 15.16 miles July 8: 1.34 evening walk July 9: 1.27 evening walk - been having a few mental health days so I've been a bit more lazy and not really wanting to do much. I have hikes planned for the next 3 Sundays though, and I'm hoping those are able to help clear my head and get me back on track. Week 2 total: 2.61 Overall total: 17.77 |
Chunkahlunkah: I've been getting my walks in before noon, but not as early as 6am. An early bike ride must feel great on an early summer morning.
July goal: 1200 minutes 1: 30 walk; 30/1200 2: 50 yard work; 80/1200 3: 40 walk; 120/1200 4: 30 walk; 150/1200 5: 30 walk; 180/1200 6: 60 walk; 240/1200 7: 40 walk; 280/1200 8: 40 walk; 320/1200 9: 10 yoga, 40 walk; 370/1200 10: 10 yoga, 40 walk; 410/1200 |
Ten minutes of yoga, first thing in the morning, has turned out to be a much easier habit to develop than I expected. I think that's partly because the benefits are so obvious -- my mornings are calmer and my movements feel more free all day long.
July goal: 1200 minutes 1: 30 walk; 30/1200 2: 50 yard work; 80/1200 3: 40 walk; 120/1200 4: 30 walk; 150/1200 5: 30 walk; 180/1200 6: 60 walk; 240/1200 7: 40 walk; 280/1200 8: 40 walk; 320/1200 9: 10 yoga, 40 walk; 370/1200 10: 10 yoga, 40 walk; 410/1200 11: 10 yoga, 40 walk; 460/1200 |
