I've always favored lifting weights over cardio type workouts...difficulty breathing runs in my family. So I did it one and off, mostly with dumbells following Jillian's circuits. When I started losing weight again this second time I did more research and found out about barbell strength work, and it really appealed to me. Plus, my little sister went off to college and got into Rubgy and lifting to condition, and I couldn't let her get stronger than me! lol
Hello everyone,
This weekend was ok... Had a tennis party on Saturday where there was food around. Made some pumpkins pies with the Halloween pumpkins (I don't like to waste food), and probably had more that I should have. Did work around the house, cleaning up the basement, and did not get to workout, just played tennis. But my eating was ok except for these mishaps.
So I am afraid to weight myself now. I know I am getting fat when definition in my abs starts fading. I haven't been doing well in this Challenge as I thought I would in the beginning. This has been a really hard month for me, I know I can do better.
Wednesday and Thursday... those days will be bad... I can see it... Does anyone have any strategies for dealing with Thanksgiving eating? Let me know!
Good job everyone who is losing or maintaining, this Holiday season is tough!!!
MonteCristo: ha ha, don't let your little sister beat you up... I do heavy lifting too, use barbells for squats and deadlifts, or lunges, but I have to be careful not to push it too much, I am too old for that, and don't wanna tear anything up ha ha!!!
There is a really good reason I didn't weigh today....ate something I shouldn't have yesterday, and want to give myself time to settle back before I see that number.
My goal for Thanksgiving is to maintain my weight of 213.2 through to Sunday. I don't plan to control myself at all on Thursday...it will be a no count day. But I'm going to stick to my calorie requirements the rest of the week, and I'm shooting for at least an extra hour of cardio on Thursday to help counter act the high calories.
Going to challenge myself...a little scared I want to shoot for 175...

Temptations everywhere... Today there is a can of cookies right next to my desk.
Going out with the coworkers for a lunch party, then dinner at my mom's. I will try to do the best I can. Today I had a coffee & cream, and whole oatmeal with craisins, raisins & nuts.
I will try to stick with the veggies & fish/turkey and avoid the empty carbs.
I am not counting on meeting my goal this month anymore, will wait until December.
Honestly I can't wait for this season to be over. It seems like I always gain weight this time of year. Well, at least I am bulking! This is the time to put on some serious muscle!
I will workout early tomorrow morning, and right after work today. I already played 40 mins of tennis with hubby this morn. I usually play tennis before work in the cold season, but I don't count that as workout.

Hope everyone in the US had good Thanksgiving.... It was horrible for me in terms of eating and exercising. I am not weighing myself again until December now. I know for sure I gained a couple pounds of fat.
I get knocked down, / But I get up again / You are never gonna keep me down ...
Let's go everyone, now that it's over, let's get back to it!!!
Well, it doesn't look like I'm going to make goal (unless a miracle happens, lol) but I think I've actually made some progress this month. Plus, I was finally able to nail down exactly where I need to be calorie-wise in order to see results. So I'm optimistic for the future.

I didn't make my goal, got close, within about a pound just before Thanksgiving. Something to shoot for in December I did manage more days in the 170s than the 180s, just too much for supper those last few days of the month.
