I always hear that losing 10% of your body weight can significantly improve your health. Overall, I want to lose 20% of my body weight to get to goal. However, I will tackle it 10% at a time. I am not sure how realistic it is for me to lose my 10% by 4th of July, but it seems pretty far away right now, so maybe it's doable (cut to me July 3rd biting my nails as I step on the scale). In any event, once I lose 10% I will finally be back to a normal BMI!
Anyone care to join me in being 10% lighter by Independence Day? As they say, the time will pass anyway, so might as well lose a few extra pounds in the process!
ok, guac. I should be up for a weight loss spurt soon, so your post is timely....it might be a few weeks before I'm in the right frame of mind....assuming my brain has a right frame...
I'm in on losing as much as I can by then. I'm at 203 now so 10% would put me at about 183. I'll try to remember to check in at least once a week. Good luck!!
I'm in! I am CW 170 So that's 17 lbs by July 4th. I'd love to see 20 lbs gone by July 12th! That would be my 1 year appointment with my Gastric Bypass surgeon and I'd be at his goal weight for me. I'm Hoping he will approve me to conceive! We have one Perfect boy who will be 4 years old this August And I am SO very ready for baby number 2! So I am so very in!! <3
Hi, I'm following Beloved Starting late in the process, but I will go back and record weight from 4/21 and update weekly. I love a challenge!

6/27: 249.4 (17.1) moving in the wrong direction...

Hi everyone!! I am so bad about updating - summer vacation for kids means not a lot of social media time for mom!
Here are my latest stats -
SW: 161.4
10%: -16.1
GW: 145.3
CW as of 6/21: 154 (-7.4)
Losing another 8.7 lbs by July 4th seems overly optimistic at the rate I am going, but I will be happy to lose a few more lbs, whatever the amount! I'm proud that I am making progress, and you should all be proud of yourselves too! There are some fantastic weight loss numbers being posted here! Thanks for the inspiration, ladies!
guacamole - MTA - thanks for bumping this up and posting it. I nearly didnt join because truthfully, my goal is more aggressive this month, but I really think seeing how close I am to 10% and recognizing the health stuff is good. I DO feel better than I did at the end of April. And it is something. I was questioning why Onederland by Hawaii is important because Onderland at <5'4" is still well well into the obese I can't believe I am wearing a swimsuit category, but it is also hiking and swimming with the kids instead of sitting on the beach watching dh play with them.
I think it's important to focus on how we FEEL sometimes, instead of just how we weigh. Being an on and off again dieter for the past 6 years or so, it's easy for me to get caught up in the scale. However, that 10% can make a difference. Since January I've lost about 20 lbs, and my blood pressure has been so much better - on less medication! My blood lab results have been better overall and I have more energy, fewer headaches, and less back pain. Extra weight puts so much pressure on joints! Even losing 5-8% can have a big effect. It's not just about the final number, but moving toward that target...for the purpose of better health and a better quality of life.
Soo...that's my way of saying that we all have won this challenge already...both those that will achieve a 10% loss or more, and those who won't quite make 10% but got that much closer to it.
The next 10% challenge could be Labor Day in September, or if that's too soon, Halloween? Which would be better?
Hi my dear Beloved
I put my goal at 180...I'm only 5'4", so 180 is still high for my height. The only reason I chose that number, is because that is where is was my senior year of high school. I've always been a big girl, but that is the lowest I've ever been since I was 18. Heck, right now I'd be happy just to hit onederland I discussed this "goal" with my doctor, and she was very supportive. She said I will hit a plateau at somepoint, and don't get discouraged. Just keep plugging along and the scale will move again. She said 180 is such a drop from where I started, but maybe once I get there, I will keep going. Thankfully, other than having thyroid issues, I have no other medical issues. Blood pressure/cholesteral etc are all great. So overall, I'm healthy, just very fluffy
