Thanks everyone. You are all so motivating :) for the past four days I have done two a day workouts and as well as today. So I'm hoping that will make up for the little workouts I'll do once i go back to work on Monday. But I'm a teacher so hopefully being on my feet will help a lot. :)

Big Fat Rooster 01-02-2014 10:06 PM

Night Angel:

"Still going for mainly veggies, meat and fruit w a little dairy. the diet is extreme at 500 cals so I'm going more for 1,000 and allowing pork. "

I do not want to be giving advise, but I cannot hold back on a warning for you being as you say you are pregnant. Other than being pregnant I would say nothing, as your situation would have to work itself out soon anyway. A person who eats too short of a caloric intake for their diet will start feeling lethargic, listless, depressed and worst of all, lessor mental abilities and soon go off that plan. And that is exactly what happened to me when I was eating around 700-900 calories a day back in Sept.

However, with you in early stages of pregnancy, going too short can cause severe life long problems for your child, cleft palate being one of the worst.

At your weight and height your maintenance caloric requirements are somewhere between 2400 - 3000 calories per day. Some sites say less, some as much as 3800. Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to find reliable info on this. The US government "My Plate" is supposed to be the most reputable and you would have to put in the info there yourself to get their data.

Losing weight while pregnant I know there is no problem with, but one should be very careful to take daily multi vitamins to insure proper minerals and such and use a doctors advice.

My cousins wife, many years back, was put on a diet by her doctor to make for a safer pregnancy and she lost something like 50 lbs while pregnant. She was obese. So I know it can safely be done and should be. And I also know you are placing your child in danger if you go too low on required nutrition.

Please go to a doctor and use his/her advise and be safe.

I hope you take no offense on this.

Best regards and wishes for both you and your child.

Hello all! Hope you had a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year ;)

I'm signing up for this month again and I'm keeping my goal of 63kgs. I weighed myself this morning at 64.5! Yay

allyp 01-03-2014 01:25 AM

Night angel

thanks for the encouragement, it's my first time trying to diet using help from this website, but I can't count the times which I have tried to lose weight before which is why it's time to start again

Rhiko what a fine cat! I miss having a cat. We lost our cat last year; she was 21 years old.

yesterday's exercise: jackie warner extreme cardio workout
yesterday's calories: 1700

hi everybody :)

So, my reason for coming back to school early was that I could focus on studying - I just found out the library is closed until the 8th. I'm one of those people that don't do well studying at home (too many distractions - Netflix, pnkrckpixikat ;)), but I really need to get started so I hope pressure will force me to do so.
On a good note, the weather is supposed to be nice the next couple of days, so I can go run.
I tried this new workout DVD last night: jackie warner extreme cardio workout. Has anyone tried it? The lady scares me a bit (SO MANY MUSCLES!!) and I'm not sure what the cardio was supposed to be, but my legs and shoulders are sore today. So, must be good ;)

Jacqui_D haha, baby woosh! ;) You'll sure get it. And like the others said, thanks for being so awesome with the personals!!

gardenerjoy thanks for taking care of the list :)

Rsadler126 yay for being down after NYE!

darius hi!! I'm also weighing-in on Fridays this month! You had a great start!

NightAngel26 It's pretty weird, the more busy I am, the better I am with eating and exercise. So I'm glad to be back at school :) Also, thanks for the personals :)
About the 1000cal diet: try to make sure you eat healthy. I personally would find such a low calorie diet hard to maintain, so maybe kick-start and then find something a little more sustainable? But also don't take diet-advice from me, at the moment I'm better at gaining than at losing ;) I totally agree with what Big Fat Rooster said though.

pnkrckpixikat no worries about the angled push-ups! I don't have a lot of arm-strength, so after one year of doing it regularly, mine still aren't too great. My crossfit coach/trainer/instructor/person/whatever it's called said the important thing is the posture, so I try to focus on keeping my back straight and stomach hard instead of dropping down super far.

ajlee33 hi :) what kind of little workouts do you do? I'm looking for couple good exercises I can do before school, that don't take up a lot of time and don't wear me out. I'm thinking about starting the plank-challenge (http://30dayfitnesschallenges.com/30...ank-challenge/) right now. Well, actually I think I'll start tomorrow. Thanks for making me think :P

Okay, I'll pretend I'm at the library now. Have a great day everyone!! :belly:

lemc87 01-03-2014 03:21 AM

I'm in!

I'm hoping to lose between 5-10 lbs this month by eliminating no-no foods and exercising more. :)

Wow, there is a lot of catching up to do on here from just one day to the next!!! Looks like everyone is starting out the month strong, with a good plan in mind. I was a bit of a naughty girl yesterday. :devil:Was cleaning out the fridge and found a couple of lost and sad looking peanut butter balls (peanut butter, powdered sugar and chocolate coating) and I ate them before I had a chance to get control of myself. Hated myself all day for it...So, I made sure there are no more left over sweets from Christmas in the house. Hubby promptly deposited the few remaining items in the trash for me last night.
The weekend is upon us already. It's going to be cold and snow possibly 6-9 inches here. I am making my weekend goal to work out both days with my videos...I see some Turbo Jam in my future! :exercise: Okay everyone...be good to yourselves today!!!

Jan 1: 151.9
Jan 2: 152.4
Jan 3: 153.4

Nothing in the last 3 days has been on plan from New Years eve to New Years Day Celebrations and being home sick yesterday, but it can only get better from here!!

oh dear!!...

Big Fat Rooster, 183stgb: sorry, didn't mean to mislead you, I'm not pregnant really , I remember what post might lead you to think that....poorly worded I suppose...no, I'm previously pregnant and I didn't diet at all during as I lost one at 5 months just trying not to overeat so I wasn't taking any chances...as strange as that sounds...nope I ate most everything. I didn't do too bad though, lost almost all of the weight by the time I left the hospital. It was c-section though so it took me longer to be allowed to really move around and I'm still not exercising much yet.

but hey, gives me a chance to show off my lil lovebug. he's almost 3 months now :) hopefully the attachment went through. I'd get after me too if I tried to diet pregnant! :rollpin:

Ajlee, being on your feet will definitely help! I just saw a Dr. Oz episode the other day that said just about the best thing we can do exercise-wise is simply get up from our sitting position every 15 minutes throughout the day and move a little :jig:and you'll be on your feet for most the day! I'd say that counts for something!

Hi Kaitie9399! Good to have you! :goodluck:

Rhiko, a brand new month and a brand new year! There's no stopping you from reaching that 63 kg this time! :cheer:

183, does the town or city where your university is located have a library where you could study until your library opens up? If so, that might be a little more peaceful for you. :book2: And little Baby Whoosh did come to visit me last night, lol! :D

Hi lemc87 (Leanna), I'm so glad you to decided to join us! :goodluck:

Kelijpa, oh I like that! Your high for the year, lol! What a great way to think of it, and won't it be great if that is your high for the whole year! :flow2:

Boating, that just made me laugh out loud! Those sad little peanut butter balls were being so neglected, lol! I'm sure gobbling them up isn't going to hurt anything, but I'm glad hubby threw out any other poor little treats! :lol3:

Woodstock, I hope you feel better! :getwell:

nightangel awwww he's adorable!!!

jacqui you are starting strong! keep it up girl!

darius I read somewhere that knee pushups don't work your muscles the same so it is difficult to switch from those to "real" pushups. I think it explained that it works the arms but doesn't engage the core so you build the proper arm strength but not the core strength. It recommended the inclined ones instead. Like against a bench or counter or table etc. because it engages all the same muscles in the same way except your balance of weight would be altered, so more on your feet and less on your arms. The lower you get to the ground the more balanced it becomes. I feel you on the feeling embarressed, I used to do gymnastics as a kid and I was working on handstand pushups around the time I was pulled out, basically pushing up and down from handstand to headstand.

woodstock it can be your yearly high, just like kelijpa

hello...

jaqui d: yeah I sorta like keeping a vague number but even on low carb I can eat everything...meat will still do it....veggies not usually but meat I might overdo. Yes, I must track things in order to stay focused, without focus I'll fall off and stay off....as happens at some point.

ajlee33: nice job on the workouts...yeah being on your feet and moving for work seems to help a lot....probably for not always looking at food or bored eating if you do that, I know I do. :dizzy:

kaitie9399 welcome, good goals!

rhiko howdy, welcome!

allyp: hey yw, I love this place, it helps to keep accountable and to talk to others about what's going on. I tend to disappear when I misbehave, I see others do it too so don't feel bad if you do too....the best thing about this might just be that others understand the struggle it is to get somewhere with weight, fitness, whatever it is that people here work towards, though this thread personally more weight related. LOVE the tickers here though....I was so jazzed when I earned mine!! :carrot:

183stgb: maintain?? lol I don't think I'll be on this forever...I do like carbs but I need to learn to eat less...shrink my stomache I guess if that's possible...and to regulate what portions I eat.....no not maintaining this diet...just a temporary way to get closer to my goal. It may backfire, can't be any worse than the last 20 diets... and soon hopefully I can add some exercise, or be working regularly again....work preferably, I like to pay bills...well....something like that :chin:

lemc87: hey welcome!! what's no no foods?

kelijpa: hey, nice to see ya.... good goals.... good luck!

boatingmommy: oh no, pb balls!! My mother used to make those...wow those are rich...but hey, shouldn't do any permanent damage.... "just keep swimming, swimming, swimming..." lol :)

sum38: awesome loss, wtg!! :broc:

woodstock:
hey it'll be ok, looks like you're back and ready to motivate.... good luck and see you around the board!!

I won't have much time to post today and there won't be much to post anyway.

It's a DownDay so I am eating two eggs and some broth, maybe a GG's Scandinavian crispbread to keep the supplements down. I don't weigh in on DD's.

No time for a workout since I am going to be running around all day doing errands and I literally won't be home until after midnight. Busy, busy day ahead!

NightAngel26 01-03-2014 11:21 AM

check in

Well, still doing ok...thought I might have messed up yesterday with dinner because it seemed filling and most of the time I want to go find more to eat with meals and it seemed like I ate a lot but so far so good. Last night was a few steak strips, baby carrots, mushrooms and onions in a lil terriaki sauce. mornings have been fruit, yogurt (yes I know lil carbish), and/or coffee. Lunches so far have been salads heavy on lettuce w some kind of meat in them.

Good morning ladies. Got a bit of exercise in this am, getting the kinks out. I had to really work at not snacking last night, but I did succeed :carrot:

Joy, thank you for the list, it's nice to be inspired by a whole group of motivated women. I did notice I was listed twice, wondering if the universe is trying to tell me to lose 8 pounds this month. I did gain in all in a few weeks, but it doesn't seem to come off as easy :(

nightangel - yes no pm snacking works for two reasons. One, I don't consume another meal before bedtime. Two, it makes me less obsessed with eating something throughout the day. I am not counting calories but decided to write down all that I eat on paper, and comment on how well I loved my body at the end of the day. This reality check seems to work well for me also. p.s.- what a cutie pie baby!

pixikat - thank you for the encouragement, I am working at strong healthy habits. I have to keep remembering how good it feels to be thinner and not always thinking about snacking/eating. One day at a time.

Make it a good Day!

Jacqui_D 01-03-2014 12:23 PM

NightAngel, what a precious, adorable, beautiful baby boy!!! And congrats on your 2-lb drop!

Pixikat, look at you go! :flame: That water weight is just falling back off!

Joy, Kaitie9399 has joined us with a goal of 4 lbs and Rhiko wants to get to 63kg. There are so many joining us this month, which is just wonderful, but it has to be challenging making the list! Thank you for going to all that trouble for us!

Turtle, glad to see that bump up is coming back down! :cp:

Shr1nk1ngme, your up days and down days are interesting, and it's working well for you! :dancer:

Workinglikeadog, great job denying the temptation to snack last night! :bravo:

Thank you pixikat - yeah what you wrote makes sense. I've done enough real pushups and enough knee pushups(lately) to know that what you're saying is right; it's not the same thing. I'll try some inclined ones somewhere. I'm just glad to be out moving around and not having lower back problems etc.

yesterday's exercise: --
yesterday's calories: 1500

hi everybody :)

I had a mega dumb exercise day yesterday: I ended up not running because it rained, so I decided to do a home workout DVD. Thing is, heating and hot water was broken at my dorm last night, so I changed into workout clothes, goose bumps all over, started the workout and then realized I won't even be able to shower afterwards. So I was like, naaah, thanks!! It was stupid but it really wouldn't have been worth it. Water and heating is back today and I already went for a run :) So, happy day!

kelijpa I'm sure it's your high of the year... keep going!

boatingmommy trashing the junk food was a good moove. I do it too. It's absolutely dumb and throwing away perfectly good food is totally unethical, but I think sometimes it needs to be done.

Sum38 nice woosh! wooohoo!

Woodstock I'm glad to see you're back. Hope you feel better soon!

NightAngel26 your kid is ADORABLE!! hahaha, yeah, maintaing a diet is dumb! I think shrinking your stomach kinda does work - or at least I feel like if I eat smaller portions for a longer period of time, I get full quicker. I'm trying to do it right now - I will stay at school for the next 2 months and considering it's closer to exams not many social events. Should work fine!

Jacqui_D and gardenerjoy : yeah, my town does have a public library but it's not a study environment. Even though everybody is quiet, there is still a lot of movement as people are browsing. I did really well at home yesterday though :) Unplugged the internet, cleaned up before I started, and then put my butt down. I'll survive till Tuesday :) It's just inconvenient.

Great job Sum must feel wonderful breaking into the next decade after being stalled so long last month.

NightAngel your little guy is adorable, congrats!

Jacqui you're making great progress! :congrat:

WorkingLikeaDog great job resisting the snacking urge, I find that's a great indicator to me that I'm working my program. If I'm not fighting the urge, I'm probably eating something I shouldn't :D

PixiKat and Darius I'm doing the knee push-ups, too, I really haven't been able to transition at all to regular push-ups, like sometimes I can't even do one! So today I tried to do one using a bench, not sure I was in the right position and since I did arms yesterday I could really feel it, so I tried against the wall it actually felt like a good stretch for my tight arms so I did 10 and will figure out a way to incorporate the incline in place of some of the knee ones. I do planks as well, love them for overall toning.

183 great job overcoming your challenges back at school, great idea unplugging the internet to focus, I was wondering about the public library, too, but you've found a solution and with the exercise as well, glad to hear your heat and hot water are fixed, what a drag!

 to everyone I missed, I read everything, this month's challenge is amazingly busy, I guess that's to be expected with the new year. Let's keep it going!

Great job everyone :sunny:
