Too much pulling, my shoulders are complaining. I finally figured out I had a leak in the last row of my windbreak, had to pull out the whole row of drip and re-do it. Have a great Memorial Weekend everyone!

I do my daily updates as an edit to my first post becayse I can always find it (on page 2). But now and then I put a total update on a new post.

I am 272 miles.

I will have to really pick up the pace to make it to 1000, but it's not impossible. :)

Tabbycat and ailee33, great to see both of you progressing. :hug:

We are almost to the half year and I am changing my goal for the year from 2013 miles in 2013 to "10,000 steps/day for a year". So I am aiming for straight walking miles(10,000 steps=4.5 miles x 365) . New goal is 1642 miles for the year. I'm a bit behind but think it's a good goal and my intent is to keep moving all year round. :carrot:

do you have a pedometer? if so wht kind.. I want to get an accurate pedometer since summer is here and i will be walking around a lot outside.

There are lots of good pedometers that record at any angle - just avoid the cheap ones under 50, they can be very inaccurate and aggravating.

I bought a Striiv and love it. It records steps, miles, stairs, cals, mins of activity and has trophies and "My land" game to motivate you. If you sinc the striiv to the computer it donates to three causes for your walking and keeps you updated plus nice overall achievements. Some days I am amazed how much I have walked while doing chores and gardening. Let me know what you end up with. I bought my Striiv on Amazon.

did you buy the black or white one..
i see two different ones on there.

I got the white one, Striiv Smart Pedometer, Basic Bundle. I also bought a soft case (pretty and protects the unit).

I think the black one only works with an iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini, or iPod Touch - and I don't have or want any of these to connect to.

I did some bicycling this week so I would make it to my half way point. :carrot: Still getting a lot of walking in. The windbreak has needed some work and my dog and I enjoyed some nice long walks - in this perfect late spring weather, so nice!

was on vacation last week so I didnt get many miles in.. only about 1-2 a day.. however, tomorrow i am starting back on my insanity.. and i will have at least a mile walk.. therefore i should get 4 miles a day because that insanity kicks my ***.. but as of now.

do not think i will make 1000 miles.. but i am hoping for atleast 700.. I did start late (in like march) so that seems pretty fair :) but we will see.. hopefully summer will make me move more

p.s.

Ajlee33, There are many ways people count exercise for miles, you can find information charts on-line but really we are just here encouraging each other to keep moving. If you don't want to figure out distance and do a true mile, a good way is to make 20mins = 1miles or 30mins =1mile.
I've seen a huge variety even within a thread with guidelines. I think it's great you have some goals and have continued activity. :carrot:

I just reached 300 miles this morning. Since I should be getting to 500 by the end of the month, it looks like I am running behind the pace, quite literally!

A good week of movement, 5 or 6 miles each day. This week I sprayed weeds in the yard and windbreaks. Our field grass needs to be reseeded.

WOW. Do you all realize the year is half over?

Here is where I am at:

220.8 miles of walk/jog/run
259.5 biking
8.9 elliptical trainer.

I try to run 2 miles at least once a week, but then I have a sore hip for 2-3 days. Walking is ok though, and bicycling is no problem.

I am still not sure how to count the biking miles relative to the walking miles. I bike 3 to 3.5 times as fast as I walk or run. I am pleased with my progress, I am active more days than not, but I still doubt that I will make 1000 miles this year

Halfway through the year I am at 370 miles. That means I need to do about 125 miles every month from now on if I am to reach 1000 miles. I am on pace for making 750 unless I step up...

July has been a pretty active month. Here are the year so far totals.

I am glad I am logging my bike miles. I also did that back when I was in my twenties, and its kinda fun to compare then and now. It compares favorably. I am doing fewer miles on foot than I thought I would be though; Its not gonna be anything near 1000.

My Striiv died last week and I have doing my best to guess my daily milage. I got my new Striiv today and was told that once it's was charged, I was going to be able to sync to put all my old data on the new Striiv. NOT! Very disappointing.

603.1/1000 walking miles. I can not slack off during these next 4 months if I want to achieve my 1000 mile walking "badge" again this year. I must walk 5/7 days per week. I can do it :cheer:

Good to see everyone making progress. One more month of gardening and intense landscape work. I am truely thankful for some cooler days and the cooler nights. looks like I am fast approching the 10,000 steps a day for a year goal. I will probably go back to my original goal of 2013 miles in 2013, but won't be upset if I don't achieve it. Just need to keep moving! :carrot:
