Thanks for the welcome, Mountain Mamma, and welcome to TiffLynn!

Spring seems so far, and yet so near! We've all got reasonable goals. I'm sure that we can do it. My weight hasn't budged since Thanksgiving (not surprising due to the wonderful spread and the umm... TOM), but my measurements have improved, which is encouraging.

Fingers crossed for you, juliastl!

Snowbrocade 11-28-2012 03:15 PM

Hi all!

I have come down with a nasty cold and it is raining out!! I am challenging myself to do at least half of the exericse I usually do. Monday I did half of my usual walk and yesterday I did the whole thing. havent made my usual classes at the gym but I am hoping I can feel well enough for friday.
Might have to make some of my time up this weekend!

My doc says to do some exercise unless I am so sick I cant get out of bed--exercise helps the immune system.

My stretchy exercise pants are loose!!

take care all!

PS

I was walking thru the store yesterday and I saw some chips and thought about how much I love that stuff but then I thought "Yeah, but I love being thin more!"

tyla 11-28-2012 04:12 PM

Sno, great job on hanging in there, and not getting those chips!!! I'm so sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon. :getwell:

Tifflyn, welcome!

Julia, welcome back!

Just came back from Pilates class. I'm so proud of myself today, because I had absolutely no motivation to go to class today. I just got in the car and drove there, hoping that would help. It did, because I went to class and did it! :carrot:

katbslim 11-28-2012 06:11 PM

Yay, to all of your victories! You all are doing so good! We can do this!

RVAscreenwriter 11-29-2012 10:09 AM

In the past week, I haven't been doing as well as I'd like to. I've been exercising, but not as much as I need to in order to meet my first mini-goal on the way to my spring goal. I have been adding back my exercise calories on My Fitness Pal, in order to stay under my daily goal. BLARGH!

I cannot believe how much Thanksgiving gets me out of sorts. In order to keep my spring goal in my sights, I know that I need to get tough.

1. Stick to my calories goal without adding exercise calories back in.
2. 3 kettlebells workouts per week, 2 jogs or hour-long walks per week, 3 free-weight arms workouts per week, 5 15m. yoga sessions per week.

I invite everyone to post their pre-New Year's resolutions, so that we can reach our goals! (if you wanna...)

Snowbrocade 11-29-2012 02:15 PM

Day 8!

Hi all!

doing fine here--I was pleased to see that the hebrew national low fat hot dogs are 40 cals apiece so I can have 4 and still have a lo-cal dinner--toasted them over my fire and they were delish!

I think I am going to re-post my goals every week so I can see how I am doing and coach myself on how to keep up with my goals.

I would like to lose 10 lbs by jan 1--226 about 5.5 weeks which is very doable--2 lbs per week. then I think I would like to aim for onederland by 3/20--12 weeks, 2.5 months--27 lbs to reach 199.

This week I am 236 so I still have 10 lbs to go for Jan 1. What kept me from losing this week was Thanksgiving tho I am at my pre-thanksgiving weight. Also I was sick and less active all around. I also should have eaten more veggies.(as usual).

RVA: what I find helpful when I am having difficulty with getting moving is to set myself a minimum that I can be happy with--like if my goal is 6 laps but I am having trouble doing it I will say okay I can at least do 4--then when I get going most of the time I can keep going and do the full 6. Or at least show up at exercise class and start it if I am too tired I can leave. Somehow giving myself an out really helps.

have a great day all!

sno

I know I'm a couple days late, but I'm new to this whole challenge thing. I have a personal goal of getting to 199 by the end of this year. So I'd like to be at 180 by March 20th. I hopped on the scale and clocked in at 205.4 this morning, but my weight has a tendency to see-saw so I'm gonna wait a few more days before I change my signature.

Good luck to everyone!

I'm at 206.4 this morning. I gained a pound back and my friend is visiting me for the weekend. I just hope I don't go over my original 208. The goal is still 199 for the end of the year, no matter what happens this weekend.

Sno-Thanks, I weighed today at 208.6, no movement. 9 lbs to go!

juliastl27 11-30-2012 01:50 PM

good job so far everyone!

i finally weighed myself today and am at 182.3. maybe im finally done with 185! its about a 2.7 lb loss in 2 weeks. im on day 2 of TOM so im really hoping to lose a pound or two of water weight this week.

not stepping on the scale every 10 minutes really did help me these last couple weeks so im going to try to limit my weigh ins to once a week.

Welcome, Learning! No, you are not late, we don't have formal rules - it was my first challenge, too. :welcome2:

Sounds like everyone is doing well - Sno still walkin' and losin', despite the rain!

I faced facts & redid my ticker this morning. BUT have finally been getting back into exercise. Need to stop.snacking.after.dinner.

Have a good weekend everyone!

katbslim 11-30-2012 07:59 PM

Mountain Mamma, you must be tiny! Wow, 115 goal! If I weighed 115 I'd blow away with a strong wind! :)

Kat, Yes, you would blow away because you are a lot taller than me!! It sounds low but I do have a small frame, there's no hiding extra weight on it. I think the end goal will be 125 or 120 - 115 was a whim.

Lishar 11-30-2012 10:30 PM

Hello Ladies. Sorry I have been missing. Things have been busy around my house. Nothing really big here. I am down to 223 so a few pounds closer to my goal of onderland. I added a ticker to keep track. This challenge is great because I have a big trip in April to lose weight for. I will have to buy a new bathing suit and would love to loose some of this tummy.

Dec 1

Hi everybody!

so here we are at December--wow--this year has flown by!

I lost 4 lbs in November--so I am now at 234--and I am very on track right now and aiming to lose another 8 in December.

Got my walk in by the skin of my teeth yesterday--still havent found my rainjacket. everytime I started to go out for a walk it would start to rain. so I decided to run errands. as i walked out the door the rain stopped. I got home in twilight but it wasnt raining so I grabbed the dog and we got out there.

Glad to hear from you Lishar!

Mama--I am with you on the evening snacking. I am working on no eating after dinner and am gargling with strong mouthwash after I brush my teeth to help that. I think that will make a big difference to my weight loss and my maintenance when I am where I want to be.

Learning: if you can at least maintain this weekend that will be great--and get right back on track when she leaves. you can do it!!

katbslim 12-01-2012 02:27 PM

Happy December to you all!
Nov 25 = 213.4
Dec 1 = 209.2 -4.2

Learning 2 Live 12-01-2012 06:46 PM

Okay, weighed myself this morning.

December 1st: 207.3 lbs

Lishar 12-02-2012 11:15 AM

I like having a weekly write in. Its not that I am keeping score its just really nice to see the progress I am making. Even if its slow its still progress. Some weeks I get so frustrated that I am not losing. If I look back I can see that I have lost weight it really helps me.

So here goes. Starting weight 225, Goal 199 (Onederland) total loss goal 26lbs in 18wks. We will see if that happens.

1) Nov 25- 225lbs
2) Dec 2- 223.4lbs
3) Dec 9-224.6lbs (not a good week)
4) Dec 16 221.8lbs
5) Dec 23 218.6lbs
6) Dec 30 222lbs (I did go up to 224)
7) Jan 6 218lbs
8) Jan 13 217.4lbs
9) Jan 20 215.4lbs
10) Jan 27
11) Feb 3
12) Feb 10 213.6lbs (its been a bad few weeks)
13) Feb 17
14) Feb 24 211lbs (down 14lbs)
15) March 3
16) March 10
17) March 17
18) March 24
(I know its March 20th but I will keep the weigh in on Sun/Mon)

TiffLynn2392 12-02-2012 02:13 PM

Is there an official weigh-in day or are we just making up our own?

Snowbrocade 12-02-2012 02:39 PM

Hi Tiffn:

we start and finish the challenge on a Thursday so I usually make sure to report in on Thursdays. we sorta leave it up to you all!

Thanks -- but it's slow. Calculated it at 2/3 lb a week this year. Didn't even do the math on the first ten pounds, which took 2 years. :fr: I should be embarrassed but I feel if I go slow I have more success compared to earlier attempts.

RVA, I like how you spelled out your goals. I'm realizing there's a BIG difference between what's in my head and what actually happens.

Slow and Steady wins the race!

Thanks snow!, my weight on Thursday was 167. Down 2lbs which means I am on trackm:-) I just hope it stays this way! Lol

From the perspective of age, I know this to be true!!

tyla 12-04-2012 12:36 PM

I'm still counting cals and exercising, but no weight loss for a couple of weeks now. Mountain Momma, I'm having the same problem. Let's keep going. >>>>

:santa: :tree:

RVAscreenwriter 12-04-2012 12:44 PM

Thanks, Mountain Mamma! I've only been excluding my exercise from my calorie counting app for the past two days, but so far, it's helped. It's all psychological, with me. Same with listing out the specifics of my exercise plan. It works differently for different people, of course!

Snowbrocade 12-04-2012 01:52 PM

lost another lb today--weight loss has picked up a little--dont know if it because I have been really careful about being precise about what I eat, the green coffee extract I started taking or I am just getting off a plateau--maybe a bit of all.

Learning 2 Live 12-04-2012 02:37 PM

Woo boy did my friend's visit throw my weight off. But with exercise (didn't do any at all while she was here) and calorie counting (didn't do that while she was here either) I managed to get my pre-breakfast weight down to 206.0 lbs this morning! Yippee! I'm happy. If I can manage to get to 205 by this Saturday I'll still be on track for my end of year goal. Then I can start working on my Spring Goal. :)

Drink water!!

jrkessle 12-04-2012 06:31 PM

I've decided to take a scale break until my finals are all over. I feel like I depend too much on the scale to tell me how to feel about myself, so I'm not going to weigh-in until Monday the 17th. My goal is to get back on track between now and then and to see great results by that point.

Snowbrocade 12-06-2012 03:29 PM

Learning: good recovery--that is the important part!

JR: definitely if the scale makes you feel bad about yourself then stay away! there are other ways of monitoring your progress like measurements and looser clothes.

The scale is freaking me out too. I've eaten on plan and exercised and my pre-breakfast weight today was 207.1. However, I cheated last time and did a workout DVD before stepping on the scale to get that 206. :( I'm just going to have to plug along. 25 days to lose 8 lbs... doesn't seem likely. But my body has its own way of doing things. Before I started this challenge thing, my body had a pattern. Lose weight one week - maintain the next - lose weight the following week- maintain the next. And I guess it's getting back into that pattern again, which is okay. I'm going to get rid of my December 31st goal. Cuz if I don't achieve it I'll be too peeved at myself.

So if it's not the 1st or the 15th, I'm not going to worry about the scale.

Lishar 12-07-2012 12:01 PM

Hello Ladies. My mil is visiting for a few days. I have been procrastinating cleaning my house. So today I get to be a whirlwind. I HATE CLEANING. My biggest problem is clutter. Especially with 2 young kids. Its amzing how quickly they they can destroy a room.

I am finally back down to 223 which I was a week ago Monday. I seem to be doing this a lot. Lose then gain back a few pounds which it take me a week or more to loose. THen loose and gain back again. UP/down. There is not much else I can do exept give up which I am not going to do.

Have a great weekend ladies.
