Is the first day of spring March 20 or 21? (Not that it matters that much)

17 weeks is such an interesting chunk of time. I am currently at 220, so getting down to 199.9999999999999999 seems possible. My goal, then is to celebrate spring in the beautiful country of ONEderland.

Great idea for a challenge!

Katbslim & WinterStorm,

:welcome2:

Yes we set goals, but it's not a competition, just support.

Mountain Mamma 11-25-2012 05:53 PM

Lishar, sounds like you were productive this weekend! The boots sound nice, even if you can only wear them a short time. Wow two birthdays around the holidays, that is hard to keep them separate & special. Rock climbing sounds like a great idea.

Unlike Lishar, haven't done any shopping yet, what about the rest of you ladies?

katbslim, nothing like an adventuresome vacation to motivate!! Alaska sounds wonderful.

Winterstorm, haven't checked the calendar as to which day the first of spring falls, think it varies with the equinox or whatever it's called.

FINALLY walked my bloated self around the neighborhood today. Gotta get back into it!

katbslim 11-25-2012 05:59 PM

Thanks for the welcome Mountain Mamma! I know it's not a competition, I would not survive a competitive situation, too stressful.... but the support is much needed! What are most of you doing on this thread to lose weight? Pre-packaged meals, WW, etc. I'm just curious, I've tried em all, and I always gain the weight back! GRRRRRRR! This time I'm going to simply rely on myself and making good choices. I hope I can do it. I am ready! I'm SO tired of being fat. It really does effect my life in such a negative way. I have to finally do this for me!

Hi all!

I just accidentally closed this browser after a long message! I hate that!

Okay so I incinerated my turkey breast so only parts of it are edible--still a good local hi protein snack. back on plan and still in the groove with exercise.

I only did a little shopping--2 llbean flannel shirts and 3 landsend turtlenecks. I am thinking about getting the hubby a camera.

Kat: I am doing nutrisystem for the second time--the first time 6 years ago I lost 80 pounds--but eventually gained it back. I find it the one plan I stick to for the long term. which I need since I have a lot to lose. I also am focusing on changing habits--my big one was learning to drink coffee black which I now quite enjoy. at first it was horrendous. just cant be a half-half junkie and be slim.

mountain: good job on the walk--the first one is always the hardest

winter: I looked it up--the first day of spring, the spring equinox is Mar 20, 2013!

lishar: good job on staying at the same weight--sometimes that is the best strategy

julia: yes--we have all been there--one the trap is open for a while the hinges get stuck and it harder to close it!!

feet: I wish that was me now! that is when I was at my low weight of 185 in 2008--the pic is my inspiration pic!

cheers all!

Hi Sno,
I did Nutrisystem about 3 years ago, and lost down to 177. But I found that after 5 months of eating their food, I could no longer stomach even looking at it. I am happy for you that you are able to do it again, I can't bring myself to eat it again. I had tons of pizzas left over that I would just feed to the wildlife in the canyon behind my house. The pizza crusts made great frisbee's, and I could throw them off my balcony really far! ;) More power to you, sno. I'm gonna try to be really good, and eat healthy, small portions. If I'm not getting results, I'll try something different. Thanks for sharing sno.

Welcome Katbslim, Winterstorm and anyone else that's new!

kat, I just count calories. I know cal counting by heart because I've been doing it so long, but there are tons of sites that help if I forget the cal count on something. I can pretty much eat anything. But I try to stick to lean protein, vegetabes and fruits, then add other items. I stick to under 1400 cals at the moment. It's important for me to exercise, too. So I try to do something everyday.

sno, thank you so much for the compliment. I love it that we support and encourage each other on this thread.

WinterS, 1st day of Spring is Mar. 20, 2013.

Momma, yes I have shopped a little. Bought a sweater, warm socks, some make up on HSN and a few things for my hubby. I put up the Christmas decorations today and had a nice fire in the fireplace.

Still counting cals and exercising. Been busy with Christmas shopping and Christmas decorating (didn't put up the tree yet). I love this time of year! :tree: :santa:

Hi tyla,
I like the idea of calorie counting. I've done it before, lost weight, then to reward myself ate a bunch of junk, then figured I ate bad one day, I'll start my diet next week. A day turned into a week, a week turned into a month, etc. etc. It happens to me every time I diet. I need to change my lifestyle for good this time, not temporarily.

RVAscreenwriter 11-26-2012 09:56 AM

Hey, y'all - I'd like to join in!
The spring equinox fits in perfectly with the goal that I already had of March 15th, so it makes sense to push my goal back a few days so that I can have the pleasure of this group's support! I've been calorie counting and do a 1,200 calorie per day diet due to my incredibly underfunctioning thyroid (it astounds even my doctor), and I am training myself to once again see exercising five times per week as a joyful necessity, and not a chore. It's still a chore, at the moment.

SW: 166 lbs.
March 20, 2013 Goal: 135 lbs.
MG1: 155 lbs. by New Year's
MG2: 145 lbs. by 02/01/2013

Good luck, everyone! Let's support each other to our goals!

katbslim 11-26-2012 10:17 PM

Wow, you ladies are already doing great! You inspire me, I need that for sure! Fatness, You go girl! How long did it take you to lose 78 lbs? That is great!

katbslim 11-26-2012 10:24 PM

sno, do we have a weigh-in day, or just when ever our own personal weigh-in day is? Are we weighing in once per week, bi-weekly, once per month? I need all the checks and balances I can get, so whatever you think is best, that's what I'll do as well. Thanks for starting this, the 1st day of spring is a good day for new beginnings and blossoming in to the new us.

Everyone does weigh ins as they like--I weigh every day cuz I need to keep myself accountable--and report in each thursday as to my weekly progress.

cheers

sno

katbslim 11-27-2012 08:46 AM

Thanks sno,
My weigh-in day is Sunday, so I'll stick to that.

Katbslim, this made me laugh. I'm imagining the wildlife coming to your door, lodging a complaint about those pizzas . . . :yikes: But it seems to be working for Sno, she's doing great, and I didn't know she was doing Nutri!

Everybody hang in there!
