  • Berryblondeboys... yeah, except those creepy black riders are after you the whole time! I can't wait for the walk to the grey havens. That will be the most peaceable!
  • Thought I would share the costumes I made years ago - 2003 are the first ones. My son was 7. Notice I'm not in the picture. Strategically I was always the photographer to avoid being seen in photos!

We moved and then TWO years later we went as characters again. The costume still fit the 9 year old (barely), but I needed to make a costume for the 6 month old. I found this suit at a consignment shop and thought it would look so cute as a baby hobbit outfit. I just tea stained the shirt so it wasn't crisp white and then sewed some baby doll curls into a homemade bonnet and onto socks to make hairy feet.

No evidence of my peasant from Rohan costume. 275 pounds...
  • berryblondeboys - my favorite part is the curls on the socks. So unbelievably cute!
  • Great photos!!! Thanks for sharing.

I am up to 29.5 miles and still going. As a newbie I gather I don't get to add a ticker or anything else until I have been here for 20 day and made 20 posts. I look forward to adding it when the time comes.

    Keep walking!!!
  • I got my new bike today and did a nice 6 mi ride. I'm up to 32.75 mi. Black Rider!
  • Okay I did Leslie Sansone 5 miles this morning, and a 3.2 mile walk so we're up to 47.96 miles!

"A deep-banked stream below the hill cuts across their path. Looking back, they see a Black Rider on the hillcrest where they had camped. They force through the bushes alongside the stream."

    Oh no!

Nice costumes by the way! That baby costume is so cute. I should make my daughter into a baby hobbit this year! The sock curl feet!
  • Ah what adorable awesome pictures!!!
  • I LOVE the costumes Berry!

I'm lagging here. I'll update my ticker and ride my exercise bike for a little more later tonight.
  • Oh man!!! First I got waylaid because my son's speech therapy ran way over making me miss my step class. Then, this evening, I got in my workout clothes, shoes and even put on the heart rate monitor to do a step routine in the basement. Guess what? The TV died. Not unexpected as it was ancient and on its last leg, but really???? Maybe a double workout tomorrow?
  • Logged another 4.13 miles today. Stopped in the birch grove, had a nice frugal supper, and pressing onward!
  • 5 miles today... total of 52.96 miles walked! Whoot! I breeched the 50 mile marker! Turned too far south, still in the trees.
  • Sick last night, so didn't get on to post - still managed to log another 3.44 miles! Total for the week is 15.42 miles - passed Stock Road, feeling the urge to sing!
  • Weekend is gonna be tough for getting the walking in... 3 and 4 year old stepkids will be here as well as my 10 month old. Can't fit all 3 in the double stroller anymore, so I'll have to do indoor workouts.... aaaaaand my husband hates the workout dvds and complains nonstop while they are in... sooo he is just going to have to suck it up.
  • 6 miles today... Reach area of the Marish with fields, meadows, hedges, gates, and drainage dikes. Should be reaching Farmer Maggot's tomorrow!
  • Still walking! Up to a total of 41 miles since starting the challenge. I hope to get in some walking this weekend with a long walk on Sunday.
