The "Git-R-Done" Exercise Challenge!

I am sure there are several people liek me who struggle with getting that exercise in. I'd like to propose a challenge to all who wish to accept it!

The challenge is simple: GIT-R-DONE! Yes, think of Larry the Cable Guy's catch phrase! No matter what happens in the day, find the time to squeeze in a little bit of exercise. It can be a full out gym routine or something as small as weight lifting with soup cans at home! Just get out there and move a bit every day! :carrot: Then come back and tell us hat you did to get your exercise in for the day!

The trick is to not make any excuses and to make it happen. There are 24 long hours in every day. I am sure we can all find the time to do one exercise item every day! I'm really, really good at making excuses as to why I can't fit in my exercise. But that ends NOW! Who's with me?

HealthyMeWannabe 06-05-2012 01:09 PM

I'm back from a 30 minute walk on my office's treadmill. Did 1.5 miles (speed 3.0 MPH).

GIT-R-DONE!!!!! :)

EagleRiverDee 06-05-2012 01:26 PM

I like this idea. I haven't been exercising beyond walking my dog in our neighborhood for a while, and yesterday I did Jillian Michaels' "Ripped in 30" workout. My goal is to do one workout every day. I have lots of video programs to choose from- Besides "Ripped in 30" I've also got P90X, P90X+, P90X2, Insanity, Supreme 90, Melt It Off and probably a few I've forgotten about. So variety shouldn't be an issue. I plan to do a combination of strength training, cardio and stretching/yoga.

HealthyMeWannabe 06-06-2012 12:56 PM

Welcome Dee! You can do it! :)

I'm back from another 30 minute walk on my office's treadmill. Did 1.5 miles (speed 3.0 MPH).

GIT-R-DONE!!!!!

dcapulet 06-06-2012 01:03 PM

cool!

Today - 60 min yoga :)

EagleRiverDee 06-06-2012 01:11 PM

I went for a long walk with my dog yesterday, and tonight I'm going out with a local "Meetup" group for a bike ride! I'm excited about the possibility of meeting new friends that actually are into outdoors and fitness activities, it would make it so much easier for me to stay active if I had some like-minded friends and didn't have to do it alone every time. :)

HealthyMeWannabe 06-07-2012 01:01 PM

Awesome job dcapulet and Dee! :cheer:

Did another 1.5 miles (30 minutes) on the office treadmill. :)

EagleRiverDee 06-07-2012 01:42 PM

Last night went for about a 1-1/2 bike ride as planned. Today, not sure. I'm sure I'll take my dog for a walk, I may also fit in an exercise video, or just take the dog for a longer walk than normal which would thrill him. :)

Great job staying on track, dcapulet and HMW!

HealthyMeWannabe 06-07-2012 09:36 PM

Nice job on the bike ride Dee! One of these days when I have the money I'm going to buy myself a bike.

I just got back from a 1 mile walk with my dog in my neighborhood. He enjoyed it and so did I! :D

HealthyMeWannabe 06-08-2012 09:25 PM

I ended up going to lunch with my boss today (his treat) so no treadmill during lunch today. :( However, I did a 2 mile walk this evening around my neighborhood. I'm still able to GIT-R-DONE! :D

HealthyMeWannabe 06-09-2012 08:44 PM

Back from a 1 mile walk with the family. Tomorrow's my weigh in day too! I am looking forward to seeing the number on the scale drop! :)

HealthyMeWannabe 06-10-2012 10:23 PM

The closest thing I did today to exercise was walking around Wal-Mart for an hour while it was pouring down rain. :( I am disappointed in myself for that. Tomorrow I will do better!

HealthyMeWannabe 06-11-2012 01:01 PM

:tread:

Back from another 1.5 miles on the treadmill!

GIT-R-DONE!!!!! :D

EagleRiverDee 06-11-2012 01:14 PM

I must confess that I didn't do anything on Friday or Saturday. But Sunday I went for a 3 mile walk on hills around the house with my dog, and then also did a 20 minute bike ride, and was active around the house doing chores.

Today my goal is to go for a walk if the weather is decent after work, or to do a video workout inside if the weather isn't nice.

HealthyMeWannabe 06-11-2012 07:56 PM

Sounds good! We're going for a walk tonight as well.

HealthyMeWannabe 06-11-2012 09:44 PM

Got in another mile walk tonight, but it was not a fun walk. Check out my blog for more. Certain people really should be shot.

HealthyMeWannabe 06-12-2012 05:56 AM

This morning I decided to break out the 3 lb. dumbbells and do some arm work.

Dumbbell Flys - 5 sets, 12 reps
Dumbbell Bench Press - 5 sets, 12 reps
Bent Over 2 Dumbbell Ros - 5 sets, 12 reps
Dumbbell Bicep Curl - 5 sets, 12 reps

It doesn't count for miles but it definitely counts for exercise!

HealthyMeWannabe 06-13-2012 12:51 PM

Yesterday after doing the weigh workout I also went for amile walk around my neighborhood before getting ready for work.

Today I decided to try something a little different. Instead of my usual treadmill I got on the stationary bike, set the level at 4, and pedaled for 11 miles! It was nice to do something different today.

I'm definitely getting it done! :cheer:

I took a peek at the scale this morning and it showed a gain. What's up with that? I've stayed within my calorie limit. I've been exercising. What's going on? I'm not going to let this deter me, but it's perplexing. I'm doing everything I should be doing, to my knowledge. Why am I showing a gain? I hope that gain shows a loss for my weigh in on Sunday.

EagleRiverDee 06-13-2012 03:53 PM

Way to go! I have not been doing well. I'm pms'y the last few days and it's been dark and rainy which has not helped my mood- I've been a sloth in the evenings after work. :( I'm hoping I can get some motivation tonight- it's still dark and rainy though.

HealthyMeWannabe 06-13-2012 09:54 PM

I can totally understand PMS'y. TOM went away a week ago, which was nice! It's dark here but not rainy.

When I got home I discovered that I'd left my tennis shoes under my desk at work! :yikes: Oops! So no walk tonight. I moaned and complained to my husband for about ten minutes about it. Then I grabbed my hand weights and did some arm exercises.

I completed a seated preacher curl (5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells), standing preacher curl (2 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells), dumbbell curl (5 sets, 12 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells), tricep press (5 sets, 12 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells), alternate hammer curl (5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells), dumbbell side bend (3 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells), dumbbell row (5 sets, 12 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells), and dumbbell flys (5 sets, 12 reps, 5 lb. dumbbells).

Not bad after my moment of childish complaining.

GIT-R-DONE!!!!! :D

HealthyMeWannabe 06-14-2012 06:12 AM

Did some morning dumbbell workouts before getting ready for work. :lifter: Here's what I did:

2 arm bent over dumbbell row - 5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. weights
standing dumbbell bicep curl - 5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. weights
dumbbell side bend - 5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. weights
dumbbell flyes - 5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. weights
dumbbell bench press - 5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. weights
alternate hammer dumbbell curl - 5 sets, 15 reps, 5 lb. weights

I'm also going to do 30 minutes (11 miles) on the stationary bike at lunch today. :ebike:

GIT-R-DONE!!!! :cheer:

EagleRiverDee 06-15-2012 05:19 PM

I went for a walk both last night and the night before with my dog. The weather is still blah and rainy so it's hard to feel motivated but I did get out. Last night the sun even peeked out for a few minutes. :)

HealthyMeWannabe 06-17-2012 10:07 AM

Awesome job! :cheer:

Friday I didn't do anything that would have been considered "exercise" but my husband and I did finish setting up my mom's new above ground pool and got it filled. That was plenty of exercise for me. We were both sweating by the time it was finished.

Saturday we took my two daughters to a miniature animal petting zoo on the north side of Atlanta. We did lots of walking around (thought I wasn't able to track it) and then took the girls swimming for two hours when we got back to my mom's house.

Weighed in this morning to a 2.6 pound gain. I have a feeling it had something to do with last night's lasagna for dinner. That number will go back down next week.

I'm tired now.

HealthyMeWannabe 06-18-2012 09:22 AM

I completed the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Day 2 Level 1 this morning. On lunch break I am heading for the office treadmill to get in 1.5 miles. :)

GIT-R-DONE!!!! :cheer:

HealthyMeWannabe 06-18-2012 01:05 PM

Back from the treadmill. Got in my 1.5 miles. I did a combination of walking and jogging. And...I even jogged for a full 1/4 mile without stopping! That's the first time in my life I've ever done that!!!! :tread: I was super proud of myself!

EagleRiverDee 06-18-2012 02:27 PM

I have continued to be active outdoors- walking and hiking and other stuff. I ate terribly over the weekend however and gained 3 lbs. Ugh. Back on track starting today.

melodyjoy 06-18-2012 02:59 PM

EagleRiverDee. Congrats for getting back on track today. One of my mottos is Progress, not perfection. Making progress overall is the goal.

Exactly! :) You can do it!

EagleRiverDee 06-18-2012 05:50 PM

Thanks!!!

My plan tonight is to take a nice bike ride. :)

HealthyMeWannabe 06-18-2012 08:57 PM

I also went swimming at my mom's house tonight. Ended up swimming 0.36 miles. Adding that to my mile tracker. :)

HealthyMeWannabe 06-19-2012 06:55 PM

Today I definitely got in my exercise! I kayaked 10.86 miles down the Chattahoochee River with my best friend. Details of our little journey are on my blog.

I'm tired now. Gonna rest my achy and sunburned arms!

Went for a 1 hour (3 mile) hill walk yesterday with my dog. While the weather is nice I am loathe to workout inside so I'm doing my exercise outside.

HealthyMeWannabe 06-20-2012 01:34 PM

Awesome! I bet your dog enjoyed that too! :)

Oh yeah, he's loving the extra attention and exercise! :) He's a big ol' long legged mutt (Shepherd/husky mix we think) and the longer we're out and the more distance we cover the more he likes it. He likes it best when I take him out hiking in the woods because if there are no other people around I will let him off leash and then he runs circles around me. :)

Jackie W 06-22-2012 11:11 PM

Love the idea! Git-r-done!

I started my life change with my diet two weeks ago. Now on to exercise!

I walked my dog two nights in a row! Not for long. But, I'm trying to get into the habit of getting outside and moving.

Jackie W 06-22-2012 11:16 PM

I love it here too!

HealthyMeWannabe 06-30-2012 08:36 AM

All week long I admit that I haven't done a darn thing. I've been so busy at work with it being the end of the fiscal year and trying to get everything cleaned up so that I can change positions on Monday that I didn't walk on the office treadmill at all. I've slacked. Back on track today! I'm planning on going to my mom's house to swim!
