May Weight Loss Challenge
Shorts and bathing suits and sundresses, oh my! The warm weather is upon us (ok, it's upon some of us, and the rest of you will have it soon!), which means less clothing to hide behind! Lose a few lbs in May, and you'll be feeling good and confident when you're showing a bit more skin this summer. :)
The rules of our challenge are simple. We are here to provide each other some accountability along the path to weight loss, so just set a weight loss related goal(s) and I'll add it to our goal list for the month of April. When you reach your goal for the month it will be turned RED in our goal list! We have a sister thread for exercise goals, http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chic...challenge.html, and all your exercise-related goals can be posted there; this thread is for weight loss goals specifically. We love to hear about your success as well as your challenges throughout the month, so please share them with us. We're here to support and encourage each other to be our best. Remember that no matter what your May goal is, it's sticking with it that really counts in the end. Good luck to everyone this month!! |
I'll be doing hormone injections from this weekend through the remainder of the month, and those mess with my weight, so my goal for May is simply to still be in the 130s (anywhere in the 130s!) at month's end. I'm also making it a goal to log every single bite I eat this month, including estimates for meals out, since I've been slacking a bit on that lately. I'm hoping that will help keep me on track when the hormones are making me ravenous!

Good luck with those hormone injections chickadee, I'm sure with your determination you will stay in the 130's all month long! My goal for May is 15 days below 75kgs.
And I started off below 75kgs this morning, so 1 day done! |
My goal is to be at 140. I'm hoping more outdoor activity (if it ever warms up here!) will be helpful. Lose It tells me gardening and yardwork burn lots of calories - not sure I believe it, but it's gotta be better than sitting inside!

I'd like to break back into Onederland. So my goal is to be anywhere under 199.9 by the end of the month. Starting at 205.2 this morning.

dcapulet - Good luck getting into teens! PaintedButterfly - It's not "just" 2.6lbs... it's a whopping 2.6lbs at the point you are at. That would be a great goal hit!!! minoja - that would be a HUGE loss for you in a short time :O Good luck to you girl!!! magsabags - Good luck with your 5lbs! Kim - Good luck with the 8lbs!!! Thanks ItsMyTurn :D. It is frustrating sometimes how slow it feels! That's why I've decided to add an overall chart to my signature to remind me it IS going down over the months.. daily weighing was such a mistake for me when I was doing it cos you miss the over all downward trend when it's going up and down by 1-2lbs but your overall loss is still 2lbs less than the end of the last month so 4lbs less than the month before that..
Good luck hitting your goal :D. Ahhh I don't know how this month is going to go... I've been given a premature wallaby joey to foster and bottle feed no less than EVERY 3 hours... and he's so adorable and I'm so grateful to have the chance but he's so so frail.. and it's completely and utterly thrown me out my patten and it's only been a day! I have no idea how I'm going to diet with this too! |
PaintedButterfly - Thank you :) I am seriously going to bust to hit goal this time. The closest I have come to a "weightloss goal" on here was one month where Chickadee showed pity on me and made it honorary cause my scale broke, LOL!!!!! Awww, a premie joey? You take in animals normally? Or serve simply as a foster care home for them? Poor thing - it would break my heart to see a frail animal.

Count me in- I'm in a wedding in a month and a half and got a beautiful but strapless dress. I want to rock toned arms! Goals are to record all intake in May, exercise at least twice per week (my work schedule is awful!), and lose 5 pounds. Good luck everyone!

Welcome back to all the familiar faces, and welcome to the newcomers! I have a houseguest this week and am pretty beat, so I'm sorry that other than getting the goal list done I probably won't be as chatty as usual until the weekend.

July goal? :D minoja: Thanks to you as well. :) The logging really helps me too, and it's easy peasy when I'm making my own food... but some days I just don't feel like trying to estimate those meals out! I'm so lazy, lol. But I'm going to be good this month! Painted: I think your goal is a great one! Frankly, at your height I think it's extremely impressive that you're managing to still lose at all - it's tough where you are! magsabags: Congratulations on starting! It doesn't matter whether I've just eaten a big meal, whether I've just used the bathroom, whether I've just sweated my tush off running (including after my 10K on Saturday!)... 138.9 is all I see every single time I get on. I had a dip first thing Sunday morning and was all excited, but an hour later (and I consumed nothing in the meantime, not even water), the scale was back at 138.9 lbs. How weird is that?? It's a good thing I'm finding it funny rather than frustrating! Great goals everyone! My starting weight is 164. Off to a good start- got on my bike for the first time in months and rode 10 miles.
Chickadee- get on the scale with something really heavy and make sure it's actually still working ;) |
ItsMyTurn- He came from a wildlife park where my mum works and the keepers needed someone to try and foster him so I said I'd try. He was only super tiny though- still hairless and eyes closed.. and sadly he passed away :( He was just too young.
So I feel really low today. Anyway sorry to bring a downer on the thread! Good luck everyone! :D |

Painted - I am so sorry to hear of the passing. You were so kind to offer to foster the little guy though, and he got to feel the warmth of a heart for his remaining time; you should feel good about that :hug: It's amazing people with good hearts that make this life a good one - be it a long life or short

Chickadee - that's hilarious!!! There was a time during my plateau that I had DH get on the scale to make sure a different number could happen. I didn't think a digital could "get stuck", but I wasn't willing to dismiss the idea until I found out either, :lol: Your experience just brought me back and had me lol'ing for real!

I'm sooooooo screwed this month weight loss wise... I'm almost 36 hours without a cigarette and I just want to eat everything and anything I see, but I need to quit SOOOO bad. I still want to aim for 8, but I'll be happy with any loss!!! |
Kim - Wow :O Congrats on being smoke-free!!!! Not an easy task at all - especially while taking on weight loss! I have yet to do that one myself...it will be my next big undertaking once I get to goal. Right now with taking on this huge life change, fitness life change, and adding full time college for a life change (yes, almost 40 and going in a totally different career line, :lol: ) I figure to insure success, I can't take on the quitting smoking yet too, :) Super huge congrats for being 36 hrs without. Soon it will be a week and physical effects gone - then purely psychological from that point on !!! Amazing!

Ok... weighed in this morning at 186!!!! Down 1.4lbs this week! Hard to believe what a difference making one small change can make :) Woohoo!

I only lost 0.5 lb this week, taking me to 203.5. I'm going to have to step up my game if I want to reach onederland by the end of the month!!! Why do the weekends have to be so hard...? lol

I'm at day 3 of the 15 I want to have below 75kgs in May. I would probably be at day 4 but I forgot to weigh myself yesterday in the rush to get to the first Farmers Market of the year.

It might have just been a slow week for whatever reason; those happen sometimes. And weekends ARE hard, I agree! My husband always wants to go out to eat, and I'm having a harder time resisting lately! :dizzy: gardenerjoy: Great progress already! And the farmer's market sounds like fun; I REALLY need to find one around here to go to, and just get my butt out of bed early and do it. My scale has not been so kind to me, but at least I finally saw something other than 138.9, lol. First I went up, now down, but not down to the number I saw more than 2 weeks ago. Eh, what can you do but keep plugging away. Weekend away with family and cheated big time...now I need to purge all the bad stuff out of my system with lots of water and veggies. Back on track but definitely feeling sluggish after all that crap! Hope all of you are having a great May though!

I bounced up to 146 on the 2nd and have barely moved since then. I think this is the 3rd month in a row where my modest goal seems unattainable until the very last day, when my scale seems to cooperate. It's weird.
