Made it back to the gym yesterday for the first time in over a month and the first time since I quit smoking. What an incredible feeling! I forgot how much I loved the adrenaline rush. Did my 30 minute walk/run intervals (to a new latin fusion podcast designed for that purpose) and 40 minutes of weights. I realized though I may not be able to keep up with this challenge this month - I've got a week of fasting (for religious reasons, yes I do it by choice and no I don't go a week without eating) but I generally don't workout while I fast. Maybe I'll figure out some lighter workouts to do at home for that week.

julie99s 10-05-2010 10:53 AM

Kukkie, congrats on quitting smoking and for getting back to the gym! Way to go!

I'm still kinda under the weather. I feel ok in the mornings, and I'll get my workout in and I feel great afterwards. But as yesterday proved, as afternoon settles in I feel like a train hit me. I might not be meeting goal this month if I am unable to get to the afternoon classes. That's where the other half of my cardio minutes come from. Hoping I feel good all day today and I can make it to zumba tonight.

Although I have not taken the elevator at work, I'm still finding it hard to incorporate my 10,000 steps. "I hate excercising!" but am still hopeful.

I was going to exercise yesterday but decided to keep my scheduled day off. Since this is my first week I want to do it gradually. I have a tendency to burn out on things and exercise is something I don't want to do that with. I am already feeling more energy. So I figure in a couple of weeks I'll be feeling like I did when I used to spend 6 days a week in the gym.

Hey everyone... I'm a little late but mind if I join? I have been really slacking lately so I need something to get me going. Feel free to kick my butt (gently) if I'm not keeping it up. My goal for this month is just to do MORE! Work out 4 or 5 times a week like I used to :( Today's the 7th so I have tonight to salvage some sort of week 1 total.

Ms Perception 10-07-2010 03:43 PM

Well, guys, it looks like I may have to drop my goals for the month and just play it by ear. I've developed shin pain and cannot bear weight for long, so running and lower body ST are out for now. The local pool is still closed for remodeling, etc, so swimming is out for now. I'm already dreading the muscle atrophy from the rest I anticipate needing. I'll still post/update when I can do stuff. But I'm SUPER disappointed!

My October Exercise:

Week 1 I was sick. Today DD dropped a chair on the top of my foot and it's pretty banged up. I'm afraid to see what week 3 has in store LOL. Going to do what I can. The eliptical was ok, but I know bosu and zumba will be out of the question until the swelling and pain is gone. Poor girl freaked out because I was crying.

Sorry I have been slacking on keeping up with logging my workouts. I have been keeping track of everything on "my fitness pal" via my phone. But haven't gotten onto here in a bit. I feel like I'm on a good track so far. Plan to run and lift weights today. Hopefully I can manage a good long cardio session today. Maybe stretch it out to 50 mins. I'm loving this excercise challenge. Wish I was feel as successful with my weightloss portion!

Decided to shake things up a bit and get off my treadmill for exercise today. It was so nice I wanted to be outside. So I hand raked the backyard!! I have a few blisters but it was worth it! I was drenched in sweat!
