I'm feeling really committed and ready to go, too! LET'S DO IT :jig:

I had a good day yesterday and am pleased with myself :D This morning I am doing my couch to 5K run and am planning to have a slim fast breakfast and supper. Lunch will be the salad bar (I'll stick to the veggies and such) in the cafeteria at work.

Have a great day!!

The second day of my couch to 5K felt good this morning :carrot: Yay me!! OK time to get some work done and quit procrastinating :D

Bad eating day for me yesterday. I fell off any view of the wagon...back on track today! DAMN CHICKEN POPPERS!

Great job on the C25K. I really like doing it too. Today is week 6 day 2 for me.! :)

Glad you're back on track. So what is this C25K I keep hearing about?

OK I went back to work but am now back here :D (for a little while)

The C25K is the couch to 5K training program. It takes you from the couch to being able to run a 5K in nine weeks. I am just starting theporgram and JamieJo is nearly done. More info here:

Thanks for the info. Checking it out.

Okay, I really want to start C25K but I really don't know if I can make myself run in public :( I am so paranoid all the time about what others think, even though I will know absolutely no one that might be there, since I'll be going in the mornings after dropping kids at school. Plus, if I start now it may get too cold to finish it in winter months...or is that just an excuse? Do you guys run outside in the winter? I can't figure out if I am just making a bunch of excuses to sabotage myself as I always do in some way, or if I really just should wait. :dizzy:

I don't like running outside in the winter - the cold air is tough on the lungs and the snow and ice scare me (don't want to fall on my padded rear or anything else!). I run inside on a treadmill at home (or occasionally on the treadmill or track at the gym). I prefer the treadmill because I can set a specific speed and keep it constant.

As to what others think - I wouldn't worry. If anyone has any comments you can always say you are working on improving yourself. I can't imagine anyone saying anything when you are actually working towards doing something productive. Maybe that is just how I think though.

JamieJo 10-29-2008 12:29 PM

Mama - Can you afford to buy a treadmill or join a gym? I also do not like running outside when it is cold so I have a treadmill in my basement. I am planning on doing week 6 twice because I want to be able to do the runs always at 5MPH. When I'm doing any running over 5 mins, so far, I haven't been able to stay at 5MPH the whole time. I know the program says to not worry about speed, just time, but I would just feel better doing week 6 twice. :) I did the 20 min run last Friday starting at 4.3 and worked myself up to 6MPH by the end, but I sure wish I could start at 5MPH and go up from there...so well see. ;)

I didn't really see any weight loss results from the C25K but I did notice changes in my legs, stomach, sides, and back. Now that I am also doing some weight lifting along with it, I'm really getting results! :)

My mom and grandma came down yesterday and I did go out to eat with them. One of my goals was not to eat out. It's so hard to say no to people who ask me to go out. I just need to make healthier decisions when I go out.

I hope everyone is having a good Wednesday!

MamaGettinFit 10-29-2008 11:01 PM

I have been thinking about getting a treadmill but right now don't have anywhere to put it so I keep putting it off. We have been talking about moving things around in the house to make me a little office in the back of the house, and if we do that we are also working in a little gym in the garage...now if we can just get it done already  but for right now...it's out :(

I do really love my DVDs though, but I will just have to put off the C25K for now at least.
