I'm here. And rocking - all my goals fulfilled this week.

But I may not be able to post much, can I get a pass for that? Hubby was diagnosed several years ago with polycystic kidney disease, which can lie dormant for your entire life, or can flare up and cause problems.

Well, last week it flared. Big time. So we're looking at dialysis and a transplant in the not-too-distant future. So my days outside work are filled with renal specialist appointments, blood tests, and trying to keep his every-present depression from rearing its ugly head during this very trying time.

The thing I'm finding though, is that the opportunity to focus on "me" through this healthy eating and exercising binge is giving me the time out I need to be able to help him. And I'm feeling stronger (physically - mentally I'm a bit of a wreck!) than I ever have.

Oh, when I say all goals, I mean besides the sleeping thing. That hasn't been going too well, for obvious reasons.

Cheers girls,

Ruth

Enygirl 08-08-2008 09:34 PM

Ruth  I'm so sorry you're going through all of this! Of course you can have a pass on the 3x's a week rule... but PLEASE keep us posted! You and your hubby are definately in my prayers! You sound so strong! I'd be a WRECK!

I'm back on plan, and just completed day 2! I did the 30 day shred (day 2) today. I really like it so far. Just when I'm getting tired and think of giving up - it's over! DD and I also went for a nature walk for about 10 minutes. It's been a good day. And I've needed a good day lately.

theresia 08-09-2008 09:12 PM

Hello!
How is it all going for you..
It's going pretty well for me, Did 60 min workout today, Yesterday I was working in the yard for 140 min, it was hot, about 100 degrees.. :)
TOM hit me yesterday, so I'm up some pounds.. and I've been eating some chocolate, (always eat that when TOM comes.., can't resist)....
But I'm doing a lot better then a few months ago.. Now I have control!
Today I managed to do 5 real pushups! Personal record for me.. I'm working on reaching 100 :), Have a long plan, planning to make it by december.. Think I can do it..
Have a nice evening!

Enygirl 08-09-2008 09:25 PM

thersia - check out this website: http://www.hundredpushups.com/test.html

It is a program designed to start you from nothing to 100 pushups in 6 weeks. I made it through week 4, and let me tell you THEY WORK! In the begining I could do 7 girly pushups (on knees) and now I can do 46 without feeling like I'm going to die! It's awesome!

I'm doing pretty good today, had a great dinner at a friends house, which was very nice. :) and now I'm off to do day 3 of 30 day shred. :) I can already feel it working! I think I'm going to post my weight w/ the program either every week, or every 10 days (not sure yet) I just know that as hard as it is I better see some results! :D

Darby1 08-10-2008 02:16 PM

Hey girls,
I just want to pop in quickly and tell you I may be MIA in a couple of days. My computer is acting up something awful and my husband finally got it to turn on after about a million tries this morning. I quickly sent in my final two assignments for my last class, so at least that's done.

I don't know what's going to happen once I turn off my computer, so if I disappear, that's why.

The Olympics are really getting my fired up to get in shape. I'm the same age as Dara Torres and holy moly, have you seen what kind of shape she's in? Plus she had a child a few years ago. I realize she's an Olympic athlete, and it's her job to stay in shape, but it certainly makes me think.

Alright Bootcamp girls, you're all doing great. Keep your fingers crossed that my computer lives another day!

Have a great Sunday!

lene1974 08-10-2008 05:37 PM

Hi All!
I'm back from my vacation and let me tell you how hard it was regarding healthy eating. We load up in the car and I have my healthy snacks and my kids unhealthy snacks. I do fine. We get to the beach go to a pizza place. We forget to ask for whole wheat crust and I get a garden side salad and eat 1 slice of pizza. I'm South Beachin so the pizza was a no-no. I do fine the rest of the day. The next day at the continental b-fast nothing healthy is offered except apples and oranges. Great! Right? I grab an apple, go out the door for my run, take a bite it's rotten. Finish my run go back grab a banana, rotten too! I grab a mini muffin. UGH! It was like that the whole week. I had the best of intentions and something always got in the way.
On the plus side, I did get my exercise in. My 7yr old and I refused to take the elevator. So every time we went up or down we took 8 sets of stairs and I carried the baby on my hip. I also ran at least 1.5 miles/5 times this week and I did crunches and push-ups in the hotel. I didn't blow every meal either, but enough that I know I gained this week. I also didn't drink water at all this week. :( I'm going to go shopping tomorrow and get some more healthy choices in the house. It's a new week.
Sorry, I don't have time to respond to previous posts. I did read them. Great job to those of you seeing a loss, get moving to those who aren't and Darby I hope your computer lives to see another day. :D

McKenziesmomma 08-10-2008 07:48 PM

Well...I'm doing absolutely dreadfull! I haven't gotten my eating or exercise in (I did manage my week 1 of couch to 5K) OHHHH I have been eatin out way too much! I haven't gained much weight but I feel absolutely dreadful.....I feel so huge! There is no way I'm going to meet my goal of 229 for the month :( I'm getting back on track tomorrow and I'm not going to get off track for the rest of the month! I have two full weeks with no school.....so no excuses!!! I gotta get back on track! Maybe if I bust my booty I can get to 229! I doubt it but I can't get there for sure if I don't get back on track.

Enygirl 08-10-2008 09:04 PM

I'm feeling you Momma! I've been stuck between #186 & #188 FOREVER! I'm DYING to get into the lower 1/2 0f the #180S - and was hoping to see a #185 at least on the scale for this week's weigh in (tomorrow) - but it's not looking like that's going to happen! AHH!!! I REALLY want to see the #170s on the 31st - but it's not looking good with 3 weeks to go - and having a possible GAIN:eek: for this week.

I'm gearing up to do day 4 of the 30 day shred. I'm really liking it - but I'm not sure that as hard as the workout is - I'm burning enough calories to not do something else too. But then again I'm SO tired and gross when I'm done the thought of doing something additional just seems too much! Maybe I can wake up a little earlier and do a 15 min. thing in the AM. We'll see how tomorrow goes with that... but I must warn you I'm NOT a morning person!!!

Jessybessy082386 08-10-2008 09:16 PM

Checking in...just wanted to say TOM came yesterday and when I weighed in this morning I stayed at #205. So I don't wanna say I lost weight but I definately didn't gain. I feel really bloated though so I have a feeling I lost a little but TOM is covering it up on me. Ugh...don't ya'll hate the TOM!!!! I know I do...thank gosh I have tylenol with codine *sp?* hehe...night!

McKenziesmomma 08-10-2008 09:31 PM

Eny - I felt the same way about not burning enough calories ....so I combined it with Jillian Micheals cardio kickboxing (25 min) or 25 min of Tae Bo or 30 min biggest loser cardio maxx.....but not everyday....two to three days I just do 30 day shred...but I also walk at least 3 miles in the evening...

Ahhh....right now I'm winding down from a busy week with a pedicure!!! I have dry rasped my feet and they are currently soaking in warm epsom salt water (in my bubbly machine!) After 15 to 20 min of this I will get my pumice stone and try to get some more dry skin off...yuck....then its clippy the toe nail time and then I have some sloughing cream to get yet more dry skin off...then rinse that and on with the thick moisturizure and finally a coat of polish ...maybe...I'm not a big toe nail polish person...mainly cause I can't reach my feet very well...LOL

Enygirl 08-10-2008 09:51 PM

I think I may do that - incorporate another short DVD in too. My biggest problem ios finding time - which is one of the reasons I LOVE 30 day shred. I CAN do 20 minutes EVERYDAY easily.. but mor ethen that gets tricky. I'm thinking that I can go to bed 20 minutes earlier, and get up and do a short 10- 15 min work out in the morning and then 30 day at night (like normal) I'm going to attempt this tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes! :)

SephyFowl 08-10-2008 11:50 PM

So I am checking in! I am doing really well in the exercising however, I am slacking a little on the eating. :( I just need to get my shiznit together. I am doing really well on not spending anything. Hope everyone is doing really well. :)

modcat44 08-11-2008 01:04 AM

Hey All! I am finishing the week strong! I did two work-outs today--one hour this morning with my trainer at the gym, and then my C25K with my dogs this evening for at least thirty minutes. I have also been very good with my food for the last few 3-4 days. Weird how sometimes I feel so disciplined, and it seems like no problem to resist eating badly.

weight is down to 200.2 this morning. Getting closer to the 190's!

Food journaling is helping me a bunch. Sometimes I am able to input ahead of time what I plan for lunch and dinner, and can then adjust accordingly, if too many calories.

I am psyched for this next week. I am feeling better about my energy level, fitness level. I feel like this will be a good week......

Enygirl 08-11-2008 08:03 AM

So the morning workout DIDN'T happen! I think I'm going to start the morning one on days that I don't go into the office for right now... so Wednesy, Friday, Sat & Sun. An additional 4 days a week should do me good! I'm not sure what I'll do once DD goes back to school and I have to go to the office 5 days a week though. I'll have to suck it up and get my butt in bed early!

I do have to report a gain this week :( I'm not letting it get to me too much though. I'm just going to keep working. I'm up #2.4 this week to #188.4 - I'm ESTATIC that it's not back into the #190's! I just have to keep shredding.. and eating good. I do know that my 14s are fitting MUCH better - so I am still making progress :D

pigginpodgey 08-11-2008 09:17 AM

Had an appalling weekend, if it wasnt stuck down it was eaten. But onwards and upwards back on track today. Doing a 28 day low fat inch loss plan, so my challenge is to keep at it for the whole 28 days. Got to keep at it!! Need to see a drop in the scales this month!!

McKenziesmomma 08-11-2008 09:32 AM

Alrighty...so I had my poopy week last week! TOM was here and I was very busy and very stressed! On the good side....all that bad eating and no exercise didn't put me far behind! I'm only at 240 (so just up a pound!) I can get rid of that in a day or so.....I'm so ready to be out of the 230's and into the 220's! It won't be long I will be out of the 200's all together and into ONEderland!!!! I can't wait! My husband and I took our daugther to one of the local state parks yesterday. We were pushing her in one of the baby swings and taking pics.....I noticed my legs look much smaller! Must be all the walking and/or jogging! So that made me happy! Just ready for the stomach to follow!!!

:goodluck: this week to everyone!

mountain mama 08-11-2008 10:57 AM

I went up a little less than a pound yesterday.. but I didn't eat anything unhealthy.. maybe just more sodium than im used to. It's hard to avoid that when you are eating out sometimes...Anyway... here's to a new week.. I would LOVE to hit the 270s by next monday!

McKenziesmomma 08-11-2008 11:05 AM

By the way....I did my at home pedicure last night....as well as tweezed the eye brows and cleaned them up! I even washed my face last night and moisturized before bed!!!! I felt very pampered! LOL

I also cleaned the inside of my car out yesterday...it looked horrible...had not been cleaned in close to a year!!! I cleaned out all the garbage and dusted, vacumed and cleaned the windows...I just need to clean the outside now!

I also tackled my room last week...the worst room in the house! It is now the cleanest room in the house :D

Of course since bringing home all the numerous birthday clothes and toys my daughter has accumulated this past weekend has trashed my living room...LOL...so now if I can just get my living room and kitchen cleaned I will be all good to go for the week!

So....starting the week feeling pampered and with a clean house/car is important to me and makes me feel ready to tackle my eating right and exercising for the week!

I think I will make Sunday my pamper day so that I can start the week refreshed on Monday!!

lene1974 08-11-2008 01:17 PM

G'afternoon!
Back on track this AM. I did gain 2lbs. this week thanks to my vacation. I honestly thought it would be more, so I'm not complaining. :) Went shopping last night and have all my healthy foods in the house. Tonight Dh and I are going out shopping for things we need to keep organized for the new school year coming up. My older 2 kiddos are with my ex husband this week. It's very hard to be away from them but I'm using this as an opportunity to get stuff done in their rooms and around the house in general.

Momma~ love the progress you made! cleaning out the car, self-pampering, tackling that room. Go Momma!

Faux~ Let's hope it was just sodium. I am very sensitive to water gain after eating salty foods. Maybe you'll have a whoosh in a couple of days.

Piggin~Good luck with your 28 day challenge!

Eny~ Keep working that 30 day shred! You and I both still have time to peel off the weight we gained this week.

Modcat~ You're doing awesome! I have those times when I feel so disciplined too. It makes you feel in control and just better in general, doesn't it?

Sephy~ Maybe you should start journaling your food to get back on track? Then you should come on here and tell Lene maybe she should start journaling again too! :D

Jessy~ I do hate TOM! I really, really hate all the PMS stuff. I need to go on YAZ. I heard it really helps some people.

I'm off to get some of my TO DO List checked off. Have a great day Chicks!

rose bud 08-11-2008 03:35 PM

Checking in.

I guess its that time for the TOM. It really kicked me you know where this weekend and I ate crappy and didn't exercise. I'm just so frustrated how out of control my eating is. I thought about bowing out of this month's bootcamp as my motivation has flown the coop. If this WERE bootcamp, I'd be sent home for sure!

I must take this all one meal, one hour at a time, sometimes one minute at a time.

The fact that I'm checking in, however, shows me that my heart is still in this challenge.

I'm glad you are back on track this morning Lene. I don't have kids, but I do a lot of the school stuff with my nieces for my sister because she has FOUR. Plus I like to practice so when I have kids lol I know what to do! haha :D Practice makes perfect.

I am definitely going to start journaling my food because wow I am plateauing and I need to know if it's my food or just my body getting used to what I am doing. Once I have a week in I will come on here and let you know you should start to journal as well! :)

Rose Bud Glad to see you are checking in. Just keep on keeping on!! I'm happy to see your heart is still in this challenge.

Enygirl 08-11-2008 08:49 PM

I'm still going strong - even if the scale doesn't say so! My calorie intake has been on plan for 5 days straight, and I'm gearing up to do day 5 of the 30 day shred right now! It's Time To WORK!!! I HAVE to get this weight off! I WILL DO THIS! I may not hit my August bootcamp goal - but I WILL hit my Labor Day Goal, and Christmas goal!!! THEN UNTO MY ULTIMATE GOAL!!! (I'll set the date after Christmas.)

McKenziesmomma 08-11-2008 09:46 PM

Eny - I'm so proud of you! Good job for staying on plan...the scale will soon reflect what you are doing! Stick with it!

Enygirl 08-11-2008 10:00 PM

momma - are you joining in the biggest Loser challenge that starts in Sept.? I'm making that my main challenge instead of bootcamps... along with our holiday challenges... it'll be good. (ps - I already have a clever name for the Halloween challenge!)

The reason I'm asking is because if you are I would LOVE to be on your team! YOu and Pat motivate me like no other!!!! It'd be great to have the 3 amigas in there together! :D

I WILL SEE A LOSS SOON!! I KNOW IT!!! MY HARD WORK WILL PAY OFF AND GIVING UP IS NOT AN OPTION!!!

theresia 08-11-2008 10:47 PM

Hello everyone. TOM has been visiting those last day so I'm up some pounds, hoping for a big loss soon. Anyway, today I did a long workout, 500 crunches, 30 Day Shred, 60 min WATP and 5 min push ups training.. So it all goes by plan.

McKenziesmomma 08-11-2008 11:00 PM

Enygirl - Cool I'm up for the biggest loser challenge....when will they start signing up and making teams and such??? I'm glad I motivate you :D you are a big motivator for me too!! I think you had it right when you said we both hit our slumps at the same time...LOL...so we have to help pull each other up!

Enygirl 08-12-2008 08:47 AM

momma - I was going to post the link for you to sign up - but then saw you already did! Make sure to weigh in the week of the 7th! I'm hoping we're on the same team!

Also - The water weight is gone, and I'm down to #186.4 this morning! MUCH BETTER Then the #2+ gain!!! :D I'm still working towards the #170's! I'm not sure I'll make it by Aug 31 - BUT That's where I want to start TBL challenge - so I HAVE to push!

McKenziesmomma 08-12-2008 10:16 AM

Eny - :cheer2: Yayy for losing the water weight!!! :cheer3: Yayy for not giving up and working towards those 170's!!

I hope we are on the same team too! They aren't having a black team this time cause the lady that does it is taking time off to start her own business or something.....I was wondering why someone else didn't just take over the black team just for this challenge...surely she would understand??? But anyways with only two teams we are more likely to be on the same team!

wistfulgirl 08-12-2008 12:53 PM

Hi All,

Trying to get back on track now after an extremely hard week-- feeling very bloated and fatigued now.
Don't quit Rose bud; I'll stay in if you do!

Usually when I get like this, it helps to go back to baby steps. Therefore,

next step= healthy dinner. We're having our work picnic so I guess I need to stick to the fruit salad and the vegetarian options and stay away from the deserts!
~Wistfulgirl

mountain mama 08-12-2008 01:19 PM

I missed the last biggest loser sign up. I need to go hunt that down!! YAY! I think im finally gonna sign up in time!!

Enygirl 08-12-2008 01:30 PM

Wist - hang in there hon!

Momma - this is true. I understand them not throwing someone into the leader position... it would take a TON of organization to head up one of the teams! Plus I like our odds better this way ;)

tomorrow morning is the first 2 workouts day. I'm not sure what one I'm going to do - but I'm thinking something calmer like yoga or Chi-ball... I'm definately NOT a morning person!

I'm So glad you turned my onto the 30 day shred though! I'm LOVING it! and I already am noticing a difference in my strength! It's GREAT! I just have to stick with it! I'm doing each level for 10 days... so I'm 1/2 way through level 1. Level 2 scares me, and I've heard level 3 is a killer! I LOVE the fact that they are short. My attention span doesn't last much past 20-30 minutes. That's also why I like my Tae Bo tape, it's 25 mins long.. but I was getting really bored with it. I have a few 15 minute ones too. It'll be good to incorporate something else into my schedule on my At home days. I'm still thinking I'll do my long yoga DVD on Sundays.

i'm in a rambling mood... sorry - very stressed at work - and not wanting to do anything...

lene1974 08-12-2008 01:49 PM

Wistfulgirl~ Do what you have to do. This whole weightloss thing is such a challenge and can be daunting. Baby steps are great!

Good luck Faux, Momma and Eny on your biggest loser challenge!

theresia~ You are just kicking bootie!:carrot: Just reading what you accomplish makes me tired.

Good Girl Sephy! Glad you decided to journal. Whomever gave you that advice must be truly wise (and beautiful  )

Horsey???? Where are you??

mountain mama 08-12-2008 01:54 PM

Eny and Melissa: So excited to start the biggest loser challenge.. hmm.. I wonder if we will be a team or opponents.. hehe Hopefully a team:)

wistful: A healthy dinner is the key in my life right now. I always look forward to a nice healthy, hot meal for supper. Im on a salmon, asparagus and roasted red peppers kick at the moment. I always look forward to it at the end of the day!

McKenziesmomma 08-12-2008 03:59 PM

wistfulgirl - I like your baby steps idea! If I mess up somewhere, I don't have to keep messing up...just take it one meal at a time, one snack at a time, one exercise at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time, one month at a time!!!! THANKS!

fauxtini - Yayyyy I hope you are on the same team with me and Eny....I hope all us bootcamper/labor day challenge chicks can land on the same team!!! LOL...I know fat chance!

ENY ~ you changed your avitar and I just about didn't recognize you...LOL! I'm glad you like your 30 day shred! Level 2 was so hard (to me) I did level 1 for a month before I finally made myself do level 2...LOL! I can definately tell in my fore arms and biceps that it is working! I can also feel my abs getting stronger and my stomach seems to be getting flatter!

I have to decide what I'm going to do for the biggest loser challenge! I would like a more specific plan for diet/exercise! I already have the biggest loser cardio maxx....I think before the challenge starts I will also buy the TBL power sculpt and try to do a TBL diet/exercise plan along with the show and the challenge! Food is such a huge problem for me because I don't know where to start.....do you cut calories, fat, carbs...what???? I have been cutting calories but sometimes wonder if I'm getting enough calories....or maybe I'm getting too many carbs or fat with the calories I am eating! So anyways....I'm going to look into going to see a nutritionist! DUH...I know eat more fruits and veggies and lean meat...LOL...but I don't know what to fix!!! I think I'm going to start trying to find at least one new healthy lunch and one new healthy supper per week to try! If I get started now I will have several ready for TBL challenge!

PenChick 08-12-2008 05:01 PM

Checking In...
I've been really struggling this month, granted its only the 12th, but i have only lost 1lb maybe 2. I am taking up less space, though, lol. I have been doing pretty good. Last week I had done 5 reps of 20 squats with 3 min of the bike in between. That totally kicked my rear and i didnt fully recover until Sunday nite, which I had to do 3 reps of 20 squats this time. Last night, I did 60 minutes on the bike and 50 crunches (not a lot, but enough for me). Everyone is telling me your gaining muscle, your gaining muscle, but doesnt it take a while to gain muscle, like month and months? I did start keeping serious track of what I am eating to make sure that I am getting the right amount of calories in. I have this journal by Write it Down and its called Lighten Up. On the first page you enter in what you ate calories, fat, carbs, protein, and how much water you had. On the other side it asks you questions like what exercise you did, how long, and what are you happy about today, what are you frustrated about today and goals for the next day. I have been taking this with me everywhere to jot down little thoughts here and there. So far so good. My workout tonight is 50 jumping jacks, 50 push ups (knee kind) and 30 min each of the treadmill and bike.

Enygirl 08-12-2008 07:29 PM

I did change it... and then I changed it again... I like this one! :D
I ate pretty good today... a bit more then I'd like, but still with in range... so that's good. I'm going to shred in about an hour - after I get DD's last drawer done. We're going through getting rid of the too small stuff. :)

Alright girls - Keep checking in! I've noticed we've lost a few here lately... and that's NOT good! :( IF YOU'RE LURKING COME BACK!!!!!!

leelily 08-12-2008 09:13 PM

Hi!!!! I’ve been offline for a little while but I’ve still been keeping on track! Here is what I have been doing:

11.5 hrs/28 hours exercise
660/2000 crunches (I'll have to step this one up)
1.5lb loss /10 pound weight loss (step this one up too but I'm not complaining :D )

I love reading all your posts! You girls are extremely motivating! Thank you!!!! I would love to join the biggest loser challenge as well. Are there any sorts of restrictions?

McKenziesmomma 08-12-2008 11:04 PM

Eny - I like the new avitar....I liked the other one too!!! Good job sticking with the shred! How are the push ups coming? Are you still working on that?

leelily - I don't want to tell you wrong on the biggest loser challenge but I know where you can sign up and find more info.....on the main 3FC forum page go down to the exercise forums and the biggest loser is down there somewhere and there is a forum or something for the biggest loser challenge...you can sign up there and also there is a thread for frequently asked questions so you can read those and ask any questions you have!

Good luck!

theresia 08-12-2008 11:48 PM

Hi! My workout goes as I've planned so far. Did 30 Day Shred Level 1 today, wasn't even tired after :)... (except the push ups part..) Then I jumped rope for 25 minutes, I jump more and more intensive every time.
My weigh loss doesn't go so well so far.. I went down 2 pounds to 135, but then came TOM and I went up to 138,, haven't moved down yet, hopefully it's coming soon..
I am also joining the Biggest Loser Challenge. I was in the last one, in the black team that is gone now :(.. But I'm sure the other teams are great to :)
Have a nice evening!

wonderwoman34 08-13-2008 03:24 AM

New here, up for a challenge

Hi All,

I came across this forum while looking for WW meetings in my area. I am looking for some accountability!

Hope it's okay if I jump in on this challenge nearly halfway through the month.

My goal is to be at 136 by the last day of the month. I will accomplish this by continuing to do one hour of Pilates 2x per week, and walking for 30 minutes at least five mornings per week, and eating responsibly

I'll be posting 3x per week and loosely planning my meals the evening before.

Balance, peace, joy, plenty of sleep - check, check, check, and check!
