my goal is a tough one

89 miles walked for the month of July :carrot:

Jasmine31 07-01-2007 12:17 PM

Hello ladies! Well these are my stats for the last few months. I was doing really good last year and even got up to a high of 2465 for the month of November!

Jan was 865 minutes
Feb was 285 minutes
March was 430 minutes
April was 300 minutes
May was 920 minutes
June was 1128 minutes

Anyhow I have been working myself back up and I am going to challenge myself to do 1500 minutes this month. SO roughly 75 miles for me.

Jasmine31 07-03-2007 12:17 PM

Okay so sunday was 60 minutes of walking, monday was 60 and today is 30 so far. We are walking to the library later today so I will get in another 30-60.
How is everyone else doing?

Dea 07-03-2007 04:24 PM

I haven't counted exercise minutes in this forum before....do we count cardio minutes as well as weight training minutes...or just cardio??
I will set my minutes at 900 for the month....sounds like a good starting point.

I have been working all day, so I haven't had a chance to get in my walk/jog....but the day isn't over yet!!:)

dustcatcher 07-03-2007 08:40 PM

Dea, I would say that everything counts!

dustcatcher

Dea 07-03-2007 09:34 PM

Sounds good to me!

Dea 07-04-2007 05:44 PM

I didn't get anything in on Tuesday....I needed to crash after a busy day at work and then my son's baseball game!

I got up early this morning...5:30am and did 35 minutes of Turbo Jam.
Now that school (work) is done for the summer, I plan to get out for a walk/jog at least 4 mornings a week....that should add up pretty quickly!
Hope everyone had a great day....holiday if you're in the States!

Hi ladiessssssss, finally got my tail in here. Dust, ty for starting the July thread for us all : ) Dea, Jasmine, and Journey....welcome girls :)

Dea, hi there : ) We usually post our exercise minutes in a chart format (as dust is doing). If you want, take a peek at the june ex. challenge to see how we do it. Everytime you post, you just plug in the date and minutes. I love reading the posts, so by all means post away but after you post I think it would be helpful to post your exercise in the chart manner as it is so much easier to add up your minutes at the end of the month, plus we can clearly see each others charts and alsooooooo, it sure is neat to print out the shedule at the end of the month and keep for our records! :) Just a suggestion, our exercising is what's most imporant, regardless of how we choose to post it....just thought it would be easier for you to keep track of your minutes in chart form and to be able to print it out after and see all of your hard work :)

Okay, as for me....I am getting a late start indeed ladies. I'll just start from today and am tapering my minutes down yet once again to 1000, if I exceed it that's fine....but at least want to hold myself accountable and keep in the groove right now.

Take care, hope you all have a super day. I have nothing to report yet so I will be back to post my chart when I get t his tail of mine moving!

Dea 07-05-2007 03:09 PM

thanks for the suggestion.
After going thru the June challenge thread, I can see the benefits of keeping track that way. thanks again!

Dea 07-09-2007 03:35 PM

it's not quite as hot here in Ontario as it is in California, but yes, I get my exercise done in the morning too. That way, it's done, and I love being outside in the mornings anyway.

goodmorning ladies :)

Jasmine, yessss. For me, I find it works best when I do my workout after my coffee. It sets my course for the day. The times I skip doing it this way, I have found myself not doing it later on sometimes. Dh and I were walking outdoors early evening but due to real muggyness or now his coming home late (on a project) we have not been doing that. Let me put it this way, I don't rely on that, I do my workout in the morning and then if we go for a walk after, great.......if not, it's ok. Hope you all have a super day, keep up the great work everyone :)

Dea and FullSteamAhead:

Yeah sometimes I have to DRAG myself out of bed and I would rather be sleeping but with dh up at 5:30 and off by 6:30 and all I can't fall back asleep even if I lay there for a while. lol

We have free t mobile minutes between us so it helps when he is driving to work if I get my butt out the door I have him to talk to for part of the walk.

This a.m. I dragged myself out at 7:30 and was glad I did. It was 69 and is now 85 degrees, though some days it has been in the 100's! I did 90 minutes today, yesterday was cool and cloudy so I got 90 minutes in that day too. Wheee!!!

Plus it is such a nice feeling to get home relax, eat breakfast, then I tell myself whooo! got that off the pate for the day. Other wise you spend the whole rest of the day with it looming over your head and if something comes up, it is easier to not go. Or it gets too hot, or you get busy etc, etc. lol

It is nice outside in the a.m., I agree. Yeah here in the evenings it cools off pretty nice still but by then I just want to sit outside with the family and relax. My usual goal is 60 minutes, if I can get in 90 then even better so that would work with my plan too what you said. But my dh is on his feet all day so we usually don't. Sometimes on the weekends we will. Every one have a great day!

Hi there girls :)

Jasmine, you are doing super!!!!! :carrot: Good for you getting up early and doing your workout. I have never been much of an early bird and do mine later on but what you said about getting it out of the way or it looms over your head after, etc. ....that describes how I feel to a T!
Regarding your walks, that's smart of you doing it in the morning before it gets too hot. Dh and I went for a 30 minute walk at 6 p.m and it wasssssss muggy and hot even at that time! I love walking but don't enjoy it nearly as much when the air is that thick. Tonight a front is coming through which is bringing in a dry air mass. Keep up the awesome work ladies :carrot:

Thanx for the props! I came back to edit my post cause I wound up walking an extra 30 minutes that I wasn't expecting. I had some grocery shopping to do too, I need to go to a different one tomorrow, they got cantaloupe on sale for .15 cents a lb (GREAT for upping your potassium) and tomatoes for .29 cents a pound! But 2 hours? Man that was unexpected and now I am tired. :dizzy: Everyone wants to watch a movie so we will be doing that in a few minutes.

You are doing great too!!! We used to always have a built in pool when I was a kid but not now. Just one to basically get wet in. That is great exercise! What state are you in? I can NOT stand muggy weather!

Everyone keep it up!

Fullsteam I hate when that happens! Thanx for starting this thread. I was already doing great about the walking and I always put it in fitday even my "bad months" when I don't track cals. Just something about a cha;llenge thread that just spurs me to even greater heights, ya know?

Knowing I am checking in here every day spurs me to make SURE I do it. lol PLUS, I would of done the arm weights once and forgotten all about them(they have been in hiding in my closet since December! Done maybe twice before this thread? I found them when I was cleaning and oput them at my p.c.) but seeing this thread and copying/pasting, I sit here and do them real quick and it just reminds me to do em!

The kids will be gone tomorrow and dh is working til 4:00 so I think I am going to push and get 90 minutes in tomorrow, then take Sunday off. My goal is at least 5 days a week, 6 if I am able and Sunday off most always. Last week I walked Sunday too since I was so bad around the 4th.

Just looked at my fitday and saturday walking will be 10 days straight!

FullSteamAhead 07-14-2007 11:25 AM

HI there girls,

Hope your all having a great weekend. Jasmine, I am in MA and we are having absolutely beautiful weather right now. It's in the 80's and sunny and dry. We get our share of HHH days in July and august but we didn't get the heat wave you recently had out west, central, etc. A couple weeks ago though, we hit 100 and that was a record breaker for us here.

THis thread helps me tremendously as well. I discovered the thread in Feb. when I first found 3Fchicks and it was the catalyst I needed to begin exercising again. THe gal who started the thread got busy, etc. and we just kept it going. It really helps to keep me in line too and I am glad that we are all here together :) l et's keep it going. Jasmine, what a great idea with the weights!

Dea, congrats on your kid riding a 2 wheeler now :carrot: and on your riding along as well! : )

Is that Maryland? What beautiful weather to have the 80's! This is actually where my hot and healthy challenge group started. As a challenge thread. lol We decided to stick together and move to the other forum and have a weekly thread and it was going great for a while but then I got bad and got busy with court stress, my ex etc, and I was not coming online here as much and checking in maybe once every two weeks. Other ladies kept it going thank God but now that I am back alot of people have left and gotten busy for the summer. So I rededicated myself to the group and am there about every day. (The more I am here at 3fc every day the better my exercise and food. ;) )

Anyhow feel free to join us in the thread, it is in my sig. We used to do a new thread every week but since it has slowed for now I made it monthly. :) The basic premise is to stick together and support each other in our healthy living choices, so basically make your own plan. ;)

We needed the rain badly...but I also needed my walk badly! It all worked out in the end!
Great work on the exercise minutes ladies....this thread is great for motivation and accountability. For me, part of the payoff for working-out is being able to record it here and tally up my minutes.
And...I think I have been on my bike more over the last week than I have over the last 6 years!! I haven't recorded every time we go for a ride..sometimes it's just to the park, or just around the block. I do need to find a more comfy seat though!
