Okay, I hope I do this right. I am going to join the Challenge. I am currently walking 20 minutes 4 times per week. I will increase that to 40 minutes 3-4 times per week and do some pilates in the in between days. I am trying to eat better and cut out the tortillas and fried foods ( I am a latina) and eating after 7:00 pm. Good Luck to us all, I will post everyday to keep a log. My goal is to lose 8Lbs this month. By the way, how do you get those icons, weight scale bars etc.?

VegasBabe 04-06-2007 01:16 PM

Wow! What a HOT thread! It's been only 1 week and we are up to 8 pages! I have been busy lately and havent been here since Monday. It feels like it's been months!

Well, to remind you all, I promised not to weigh myself this month. I have to amend my goal. My trainer is evaluating my progress today. She will be taking my weight and measurments. This is ok because it is for evaluating purposes by a professional and not in my bathroom. Have I convinced myself and all you? I'm good with it. I cant wait to show you all my results!

FullSteamAhead 04-06-2007 02:27 PM

Hi ladiessssssssss :)

I am running late for an appointment so I have to make this a quickie. I wanted to pop in and wish you all a super weekend and HAPPY EASTER! I know that some of you are traveling this weekend. Keep up the good work and le't stick together and keep on trucking! :) ok I better go, I'll write more in depth when I come in again. Ohhhhh, devilish, moonlightstar, and beautiful4me.........welcome girls :welcome2: It's absolutely not too late to join, never too late! : ) ok, talk more soon. Have a great day.

p.s- sockmonkey, I like analog. The digital scale I had at one time drove me nuts! Someone asked about a ticker I think? When your logged in, go to where it says User CP (upper left hand top of screen) click on that and then I think you click on edit signature. You will find a link there which will help guide you through it. If I am mistaken or you have any trouble just let us know. yikes, im late. catch you all later : )

4amy 04-06-2007 03:20 PM

Cats tongue 04-06-2007 06:02 PM

Hey everyone!

Welcome new comers! Better late than never right?

I hope everyone's friday is going well.

I did a ton of walking today, since I can't do anything too strenuous because of my rib cage injury thing...

I myself prefer digit scales, but that might be because the analogue scales I've bought before were really junky, so I could never read the numbers. Right now I havea weight watchers scale... And while I don't really ever weigh myself (not since January) I do like the digital scale.

Good luck and Happy easter!

FullSteamAhead 04-06-2007 09:51 PM

Hi again all,

It's so nice to come in and read your posts. I am a bit frustrated as I just lost a large entry just now that I tried to send somewhere, my pc has been a bit troublesome so hope it clears up. It's been a busy day, yesterday and today went very well (had the fish for dinner tonight and the chicken last night, reversed them). I didn't sleep much though, I was up early and felt tired but still good. I did my workout ( i put my workout before any cleaning) and that helped a lot. As for the cleaning, I never got to it, I was so busy today but I am just happy I did what I needed to do.

devilish, I like that bunny emoticon of yours! cute! : )

nosnah, I am on the north shore....about 45 minutes from Boston. Have you heard of Newburyport? I'm near there. Have you been to Crane's beach by any chance? I love it there! loooooong white sand beach, if your coming in summer do let me know, maybe we could hook up for a day at Cranes : ) Have a super weekend back home.

Hi banruf : ) Happy easter to you as well. THe only thing you can have is a sald? How about making a nice tasty veggie dish of sorts too? ohhhhhh, I make this greek veggie dish you may like......it's sooooo good. It is called "briam".....if your interested let me know. It consists of eggplant, green zuchinni, potatoes, onions, and garlic. You can omit whatever you don't want or like,,,, sometimes when I get in non-meat mode, briam just hits the spot as a satisfying dinner for me.

sunshinee : ) that's super! I felt blue when I woke up yesterday too! Despite a forecast of sunny skies, it was grey again. Same hereeeeeeee, I really had to push myself to get started and then once I did my workout, it was a total turnaround! I felt so much better and it just set the course for my day. Congrats on getting right back on track after a so called sidetrack...........I hear you, as I'm sure many of us do, on that one day spiraling into several. I have learned and am learning not to beat myself up so badly as in the past and it really is helping IONS!!!!! When I used to beat myself up real bad for a sidetrack, felt like i blew it, sink into a depression....how could I possibly get back on track? It made it soooooo hard, and the longer it lasted, the more miserable I would become and the harder it felt to get back on track. My mind was my own worst enemy........and it all starts with the mind. NOw when I go off plan, no matter how minute or large,, I take it in stride! Tommorow is a new day......I didn't blow it, I simply had something more than planned and well what's done is done, what will I do differently tomorrow? I learned and knew the consequences of my side tracking or getting back on plan. SLow weight loss, no weight loss, or a gain. Also getting back on track meant undoing any damage with maintaining, etc.....and that sure was and has been much more reinforcing psychologically and physically. OH , I think I am rambling again, sorry : ) I do hope I got my point across........I tend to get carried away sometimes. congratsssssss : ) wish I could help you with the mini goal tracker, I'm sure one of the girls here can help out. Keep up the great work :)

Cat's tongue? I am so sorry to hear of your fall. : ( speedy recovery. Did you get it x-rayed? Hope your feeling better. Take care of yourself and get better first and foremost, exercise second! Jeesh,, I need to follow my own advice, I know exactly how you feel and the frustration along with it . Hon, just get better first, you can get back to the exercise when your feeling better. Keep us posted, okay? Enjoy your weekend and Happy Easter to you too.

Hi moonlight star : ) great nick and great attitude! :) congrats on your new car and home! You must be very busy indeed!

Hiya rockie, hang in there girl! happens to the best of us. As for the chocolate thing, how would you feel after? better or worse? jeesh, I know the feeling though. I think we all do! As for breaking even, absolutely! Madi said it best when she said maintaining is good work too. I don't know rockie, depending on just how your week went ...if you feel like the weigh in may be discouraging, maybe hold off on it for now and just get back on track and keep on trucking, just like you said. It depends, I know with me, if I am pretty sure I am going to be disappointed and not handle the scale well or that I may be dissappointed, I would just skip the weigh in and keep goinggg! and yessssssss, after a maintenance or even a loss if something was gained, of course you will lose again being on track! Men can eat more calories, uggggggh indeed! when I would match my eating habits to dh I would gain and fast, and he of course stay the same! lol. We still have 3 weeks to go for this month so keep it going : )

beautiful4me, did you find the tracker info you needed?

hi vegas babe : ) I think it's great your measuring! I don't know how many times I have said I would and have also urged others to do so instead of just going by the darn scale. I see such a difference in my shape and feel it in my clothes, yet the measurements would be so much more concrete. Looking forward to your results :)

Amyyyyyyyyyy, hi there girl :) I'm glad! way to go! keep it rocking! DId you try the tae bo tapes? did you like them? I had sent away for some tapes a while back (not tae bo though) and wasn't crazy for them......ugh! nosnah's suggestion of netflix would come in real handy here. I am doing my old true and tried aerobics tapes which I really like but today I did rob glicks cardio party (on comcast) again and ah, let's just say I was limping all night, darned ankle! A good nights of rest and I will be fine tomorrow , but for now, no more of that for me....I think the v-steps is what's gettine me. Nice to read your posts , as always :) keep on truckin girl and have a super Easter.

Cats tongue, I looooooove walking! sounds nice : ) I can't wait until the weather here gets mild again so I can take it outdoors again. Last week was one big tease! I know my triggers and grey days are one of them. Honestly, I was scared and came up with all these plans to help keep me on course during this week. So far, it's been great ....except for my mid week margarita night, lol :D Happy Easter ladies :)

MygirlsMommy 04-07-2007 09:55 AM

Hi ladies! This has to be quick, we're getting ready to leave. Wish me luck, we're going to my in-laws for Easter weekend. Being there usually amounts to laziness and bad eating on my part. I'm determined not to do that this time, though. I've written out my eating plan for the next three days and I went to the store yesterday to get everything I need to take with me. I'll also try to walk at least one day while there. I don't expect perfection, but I know I can put some effort into it and be proud of myself for it! I hope you guys all have a great weekend! Happy Easter!

jenjen 04-07-2007 01:54 PM

Hi Everyone

One week down. I've lost 3 pounds since last Friday. I don't think I'll hit the 15 pound mark, but I'm making progress and should be able to lose 10 pounds.

I've eaten well & have been drinking over a gallon of water a day. I got to the gym twice this week, but 2-3 times is about all I can make it with my work schedule.

This next week I'm going to work on more exercise. Even if I don't make it to the gym, I'm going to try to add another day or two of walking.

Have a great weekend & Easter everyone!

Cats tongue 04-07-2007 09:49 PM

Hey all!

FullSteamAhead
Thanks! You're so nice, you really take the time to read everyone's post and reply. It's always so nice of you. :D I love walking too! And fortunately, my rib has been feeling better too. It's so hard to not head out on a bike ride though.

MyGirlsMommy
Good luck!!!! Perfect isn't required, but effort is always good. Even if it seems bad, find the one thing you did well and focus on that.

Jenjen
Congratulations on your 3lbs loss!!! You've lost almost 15lbs?! WOOHOO!!!!!! Good for you. :)

My day's been okay. I've just had the munchies... And I don't even know what I have the munchies for. Sugar? Salt? Buttery goodness? I just can't pinpoint the cravings. So I'll chew gum until a solution presents itself. :)

bobsgal 04-08-2007 09:10 AM

Hi all! Happy Easter! I'm just popping in to report a 3.2 pound loss for the week. Hope everyone is doing well.
Steph

sockmonkey70 04-08-2007 08:45 PM

Wellll I had to pop in a confess my terrible weekend of eating. I have done well all month until this weekend. Friday my BF took me to Outback..knowing I am a steak fanatic. I ate a banana and a granola bar in preperation for the splurge that night. I ordered my beloved ribeye (and fries but I didn't eat them because they were nasty) with a salad and lite ranch. Didn't bother to pick off cheese or croutons because they are soooo yummy. I cut the ribeye in half and took the rest home with me..but ended up eating it later that night LOL. All in all I broke about even that day.

THEN Saturday I did good all day, but then BF (BAD BAD BAD BF) brought me home a cheese quesadilla from Taco Bell and I ended up breaking even AGAIN.

And today. SIIIIGGGGGHH. Easter Sunday. I ate a granola bar for breakfast. BF wants to go out AGAIN. I concede. The ONLY restaraunt open is a steak house. I could have gotten just a salad.but no...Had to have another steak. WHY A STEAK HOUSE. I LOOOOOVE STEAK. I just couldn't say no to free steak.

So Friday-Sunday I have managed somehow to break even with my calories in/calories out..but I still went up a pound to 216..But I am not disapointed about that considering all my splurges. And I don't think I have been drinking enough water.

So after a terrible weekend of food, (well actually the food was awesome, just not awesome FOR me) I am ready to cut back and buckle down. I refuse to give up just because I had a bad weekend. So full steam ahead.

pigginpodgey 04-09-2007 08:30 AM

Well done bobsgal and jenjen on your loss !!

So according to my scales, not an ounce, nope not a thing lost! So that just confirms my theory, i cant exercise only 3 times a week and have a few treats on the weekend and lose weight - it just doesnt happen!! The long weekend we had here has thrown me a little too, we had friday off. So this week, all gung ho, im exercising 4 times this week!!

Hisskitty 04-09-2007 08:38 AM

Hi Everyone

Just wanted to check in and report my weight loss on week one of phase one of the South Beach diet. As of today I have lost 4 pounds :carrot: I'm a happy girl. Now I just need to keep it up and get to my goal. I need to remember that slow and steady wins the race :) I am excited about week three when I can start working out again. Summer is coming and want to wear cute clothes without worrying about my muffin top stomach ruining the look of pretty much everything I wear.

Sock Monkey - might be none of my business but maybe you could sit your bf down and tell him how important it is that he help you rather than hinder you. Fact is he might be afraid that if you lose all of your weight you won't want to be with him anymore. That or he doesn't realize how important it is to you to lose the weight. Like I said, none of my business, but I could not help but see that he is the common thread to your falls from the wagon. I have had folks like that in my life (my mom as much as she loves me can be one of them) For her bonding meant meeting in the kitchen, cooking up a batch of cakes, cookies and so forth and sitting at the table eating and talking. Can't say that I don't like that but I have spent 42 years falling into that trap and "suddenly" I have realized that it has not done my health any good. I have to retrain the people around me that we don't have to eat to bond.

Okay, I will step down from my soap box now

Good luck everyone and have a great day.

banruf 04-09-2007 11:17 AM

Good Morning Everyone:
I weighed myself on Saturday morning and I lost 3 lbs.:carrot:
I did okay eating wise yesterday. The person who brought the salad yesterday to my sisters house out bacon bits all over it so I could not eat that, so I had to have the starchy veggies. I did have some candy and dessert but all in moderation so I did not do too bad.

Fullsteamahead: I love new recipes, the receipe you have for "briam" sounds good. When I ahve company over I try not to make much extra for me because I don't want to go overboard and eat alot. When I had Thanksgiving last year I had 23 people over my house and I didn't eat until everyone was gone and my house was back to normal. I lose my appetite when I have to cook that much.

Sockmonkey: I have a similar problem with my husband. He trys to amke me feel bad because I don't want to share an appetizer or dessert with him. I try to tell him I don't lose weight that easy and this is what is bets for me but it does not stop him from doing it everytime we go out. I tell him all the time he should try to help me instead of trying to be a bad influence all the time. He is very stubbon - if I threw a rock at his head the rock would break.

Have a great Monday, I ahev to get back to work.
