  • Dollypie- don't you worry about that devil. He is ALWAYS on my shoulder, but focus on your goals and knock that bad boy off!

    Ok y'all... forgive a Texas girl.. WHAT is tubbing? I know Tubing as in sailing down a vibrant river in inter-connected innertubes whilst pounding massive and illegal amounts of beer ... but am unfamiliar with tubbing. Please enlighthen me.

    ALSO you all said change was needed and it was really pretty easy as my DH is out of town this week. So I did the cereal challenge. Replace two meals a day with cereal, milk and a serving of fruit and presto, chango... I lost a pound! I know I know... that doesn't neccesarily blow anyone's skirt up, but hey... better than stagnation or a gain!

    How is everyone...How are you Snow? I am glad that you are going to get your knee fixed up!
  • aimin4thin, I thought the same thing about tubbing. I could only think of tubing down the Frio or Guadalupe. I think they are referring to tubing down a mountain in the snow.
  • Snow country
    We live in Utah, so we went tubing down the mountain. Or should I say a mountain since there are plenty here. I am not from here and I don't ski but I will plop down on a tube and fly down the slope! It is so fun. I was going so fast my knit cap kept blowing off! Come up some time and try it.

    Also, Hubby and I are going to be in Texas next month for boot camp graduation in San Antonio. I want to go to the beach! Is Corpus Christi better than Galveston? I used to live in Houston and have been to Galveston. I don't know if we should fly into Houston and drive to Galveston for the day then drive to San Antonio. Or should we fly into Corpus Christi spend the day and then drive to San Antonio? I have seen the best rates for Houston so far. and I have no problem driving to get to the beach. I love the water. I love to swim. Can a person go in the water in mid March?

    We used to live in Florida and we went to the beach all the time. But not really in the winter because we thought it was too cold. Now I know cold! I really miss the beach!

    any help?
  • good thursday!
    Hi all:

    well another pound today--that binge weight is coming off fast--I am now one pound away from where I was before I went awol. It feels good and I feel pretty motivated. also I am taking chromium 3x a day and that helps with my appetite.

    And posting daily is really key--keep me accountable and in touch with others who are going thru the same thing. thanks for your stories and support!

    WBM: just hang in there--stress eating is so hard to break but if you keep posting and setting goals I know you will see the results you want. Tubing sounds really fun--and I bet it burns a lot of calories!

    dolly--good luck at your party, you have a good plan so I think it will work. thanks for the recipe--I cant wait to try it!

    aimin--good job with the cereal challenge--that sounds kinda fun! I could eat cereal 24/7 but I guess that is not what they mean

    nina--It gives me hope to hear that physio helped with your knee--I really want to get back on the exercise--I lose so much more when I do. And walking is so accessable and keeps my mood in good shape!

    Have a great evening all!
  • Morning Chicks,

    TGIF. It's been an awesome week so far for weight loss. This elimination diet is really working for me. I squeeked into the 150's this morning. Yes I looked early but just wanted a peak. I've got a fairly social weekend involving
    significant amounts of wine which has a way of derailing me.
    Sno that weight is just falling off. Excellent and I bet you'll get below ticker by Mon. Chromium is one of the supplements I take regularily. I also take an iodine supplement recently and It might be one of the reasons I having so much success lately. Google iodine deficiency and see what comes up. It's pretty interesting and I had several classic symptoms of dificiency, including fibromialgia. Iodine is important for thyroid function which regulated metabolism.

    Having lived in snow country most of my life I take for granted all the snow sports available to us. I guess there are some advantages to cold weather.
    Tubbing is a blast and most ski clubs now offer it as an alternative to ski/snowboarding. You rocket down the hills on these enormous blown up tubes in relative comfort so almost anyone can enjoy it as long as you have know issues with heights.

    Dolly you take the cake for embarassing moments. I hope you were under the influence at the time to help with the embarassment. I've got a few moments in the past but another day for those.

    Aimin glad that plateau is beginning to crumble. The cereal thing sound like a cool idea. I'll probably give it a try soon.

    Have a great day and weekend all,

    Nina
  • Hey ladies, just a quck post because I need to get the kiddos to school. This week has been crazy hectic! The kids seem to have more homework this week than ever, and after a 3day weekend they have not been in the mood to actually DO it. Add to that weather that has been going from the sunny and warm to cold and rainy- meaning 2 daughters with facets for noses and me with a headache. Fun fun fun!

    I've been having to just hover over the kids, wiping noses and telling them to do thier work. which means the housework has piled up on me. And we've been doing a lot more just sitting and reading, instead of moving around. Hopefully we will be back to feeling normal soon.

    Hope you all have great weekends! It sounds like we have a great weigh in coming up. Hopefully some of those plateaus are a thing of the past!
  • Thank Goodness It's Friday
    Good Morning Ladies,

    Well I made it through my party last night. Two slices of pizza and salad. I was so proud of myself. I didn't even go to the dessert table, it was across the room. Felt good when I go home last as it was a big accomplishment. I did watch Oprah late last night. Did any of you watch? It had Bob Green on the show and he is taking people through nine months of losing weight using is Best Life method. Basically everything we already know about weight lose. But watching others motivates me to stay on track. I like to watch the Biggest Loser, but it is just not normal to lose that amount of weight in a short time. So I will be watching future episodes. Just an FYI.

    Sno, That weight and more is going to off of you before you know it! Way to go, jumping back on the wagon!

    Luxorbea, Hopefully things will calm down a bit with the weekend coming up.

    40, snow tubbing sounds like so much fun, I am jealous. And yes I was under some influence when the incident happened, but I am never going to live it down. Everytime we go back to the river I am asked if I am going to perform any peep shows this time.

    WBM, I would steer clear of Galveston just too close to Houston and not the cleanest of waters, but the atmosphere is great! Texas beaches are just that Texas beaches, nothing like Florida. I would say fly to Corpus Christi and then drive to San Antonio. Here is a link to the Padre Island National Seashore, http://www.nps.gov/pais/ It is nice and a national park so it is cleaned and maintained. There are also several public beaches in Corpus as well. When you will be there is Spring Break for most Texas public schools and universities so be advised there will be lots of people. Depends on the weather outside if you will be able to go in the water. The water shouldn't be that cold though, but yet still chilly to get in. DH and I are planning a fishing trip at the being of April and we wade fish without waders.
  • Thanks
    Thanks Dolly!
    I remember what it was like in Galveston. Plus I think the drive is awful I have a hard time going past all the refineries. I am a safety specialist and I know all about happens and has happened there and it makes me sad.

    I went to the link and am thinking it looks so good. I really miss the shore. I need it so badly! We have a lake here in utah called Bear Lake. If you ever get a chance come on up in the summer. The water is always cold because it is fed from the mountain snow but it is so beautiful. You would just not believe it. The drive to it is one of America's top 10 scenic drives. you come around a bend at the top of a mountain and you almost drive off the road looking at the lake! It is truly breath taking. As is the water when you get in... but I love it! Well worth it.

    I'll keep you posted! As for spring break lived in Florida been there done that! we usually stay away from crazy people! and we don't party it up. We just need to find a quiet spot! In fact when we lived in St Pete we went to the gay beach because it was quiet no tourist ever went there! WE loved it. We didn't bother them and they didn't bother us. Everyone just laid out got a few rays and took a dip when it got hot. No loud music no one playing Frisbee. Just relaxing.
  • Tgif!
    Hi all:

    .5 lb yesterday--all that water weight from my binge is almost off--1.5 lbs to go!
    I guess some of that gain was due to TOM. Hopefully I will be below my ticker by monday. It feels good--all is back to normal and my stomach is flatter. I think I could definitely make my goal of 235 by March 9--which is when I go on my trip--I need lots of !!

    My hubbys job didnt work out--but he had a good interview this morning so we will see--I feel bad for him because he is making a career shift and it is tricky for a 54 yr old to do.

    Nina: that is a great tip about the iodine--I have fibromyalgia but my thyroid tests out okay.

    Luxor: yep--I have the same--housework has piled up here too--it needs a big going over for sure.

    Dolly: great job at the party and you did exactly what you visualized. Awesome. I have been curious about the Best Life method--anyone read the book?

    WBM: have a great trip--it sounds so wonderful where you live--I love swimming too especially in a natural setting.

    Have a great weekend everyone!
  • Dolly- Excellent follow through of your party plan! Watching others lose is very motivating for me as well. Now I've gotten to the point where I am looking at those stories for inspiration and a reminder that it can be done!

    WBM- I've driven thru Utah, and I think it is just so beautiful! We have a list of all the places we want to go on vacation, and I think I put Utah on there like 5 times LOL Maybe I'll add Bear Lake and make it 6

    Sno- sounds like you are doing great! Hope your weekend is going great, and you will be moving that ticker very soon!

    I met with a trainer at the gym today just to see if they had any input on how to get more out of my limited workout time. Anyway, she had me do the elliptical- that was tough! However, I impressed her by being able to do it for 10 mins Granted, it was on the lowest setting, I'm sure, but she said usually she has people only do 5 mins the first time (she went off to check on something and started chatting, so left me longer than she planned LOL) If I had known, I prolly would have stopped at about 5 mins, but the timer said 10, so I stuck it out.

    Hope you all are having great weekends!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    MY Goal for this week: get to the gym at least 3 times (DONE!!!)
    and walk the kids to school at least once- didn't do, but twice we walked from school to the park, then back to school to get my son....
  • saturday
    Hi all:
    today was a medium day--got a little walking in but hurt my knee a tad on the stairs at my salon. Had a hair cut (way overdue) and my brows done. I also went to Saks and begged some samples of creme de la mer face cream--my fave but very expensive.
    My eating was pretty good but not fantastic. I had some pumkins seeds which are very tempting for me!
    It is cold and windy here--makes my joints ache!
    Good job on that elliptical Luxor!--maybe if I win my workers comp case (fingers crossed) I will get a gym membership!
    Have a goodone!
  • Sno, sounds like you had a fun day! I am way overdue for a haircut LOL I got one in August....I just keep putting it off.
    Today I had a great plan all laid out- planned in FitDay what I was going to eat (I wanted to go out to eat with the family after church, so I figured I better get a game plan) Anyhow, my soon to be 4 yo was very VERY upset and unconsolable. no way I want to take a crying kid out to lunch, so we picked up food and headed home. My hubby pulls in to Carl's Jr (I LOVE western bacon cheeseburgers!) and asks if I want to get something or just find something at home. Man, that was like a wakeup call! Of course, I don't want to derail my plan just for a meal that will be there for me in 5 years LOL No rush on that. So, I came home and had a healthy lunch And the rest of the day went off without a hitch
    I am determined to NOT fail this time. I have finally accepted the fact that it's going to take some time, and a lot of hard work, but it's up to me. I think this is the longest I've stuck with an exercise program. And it is by far the longest I've been watchful of what I'm eating.
    I think Fitday is a great tool, I've taken to planning my day's food for the next day, starting with dinner and working backwards. I am really bad with breakfast, usually I either skip it or overdo it. (I don't get hungy until I've either eaten or exercised) Having it written down is very helpful to me.
    Can't wait to hear how everyone else's weekends were.
    WBM- how was the thing you went to on Friday with your hubby?
  • Good Morning everyone,
    Lux you did awesome yesterday with all the right choices!!! Setting thoses long term goals and sticking to it is what it's all about.
    Sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday Sno. I love that pampered feeling that comes with a new a hairstyle and asthetics of any kind.
    Well last week was right on track until Sat. Went out for dinner with friends and I was pretty good. I ordered a spicy Thai veggie lo mein dish and only ate half the noodles but did over do it a bit on the wine. Sunday was good until I had peanut butter and choc. ice cream last night. Weigh in today put me at 159.5 for a total of 2.5 lbs this week and total weight loss is now 12.5 lbs.
    I've been making it to the gym 4 times a week and skiing a couple of times a week as well.
    My goals for this week are: stay away from sugar completely
    drink 90+ ounces of water
    4 2 hour workouts
    at least 1/2 hour of cardio a day.
    TOM is coming and my biggest challenge will be the sugar thing so wish me luck.
    Have a great day all,
    Nina
  • Monday 10 weeks to go!
    Hi all--
    I am getting revved up for the next 10 weeks. we can really make a difference in the next two months! Its all up to us.
    well I am down 5 lbs from last week--not all the binge weight is gone but I will take it. so that puts me at 8lbs so far for this challenge--better than nothing for sure!
    My new haircut is not exactly what I wanted but it is a very good one and in particular it looks cute when I have my warm hat on!
    Luxor--I love fitday--I can plan what I want to eat for the next day and figure out what I think I would really enjoy eating that is within my parameters of my diet--so it can feel like a luxury. Good job with Carls Junior--I love those breakthrough moments! Technically you could plan Carls into your daily calories--you can find carls online but it would probably take most of your calories for the day! I think the key is sticking with the plan you made and how empowering that is!
    Nina--wow lost two and half pounds and had ice cream too and thai food--way to go! It must be the skiing--I know that burns up scads of calories.
    Lets bust it out for the next 10 weeks and make a dent in our goals!
  • Nina- Terrific! Another 2.5 pounds that are gone! 2 hour workouts?!? whew! I hope someday I will have that kinda stamina
    Sno- WTG on those 5 pounds! Y'know, if we had been at home and my hubby was going to go grab Carl's, I would have gone into Fitday and worked it around (and I'm thinking I might do that one day this week because a western bacon sounds mighty good! LOL) But since we were out in the car, and I already had dinner planned, I did what was "easiest" LOL.
    I am down to 277! Which is 4 for the week, and 18 pounds gone for this challenge! I am facing a HUGE challenge in April however...Hubby & I are going with our friends to Las Vegas! I have no idea how to plan for THAT with FitDay! LOL I do plan on using the hotel's gym at least one of the days we are there (have to pay for each day,so don't know if we can afford that for all three days, and one of the guys we are going with has health issues, so we are going to do as little walking as possible. But the pool is free, so maybe I'll do some actually swimming )
