Smile New Year/New You: Week 4 (12/18) Chat

Rowdy I hope you don't mind that I started this weeks thread, but I am just rearin' to go!!!

Good morning weightloss buddies. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!!!

I for one had a really good weekend, except for the the in (out) -laws, which you can read about in last weeks thread, I posted that on Sunday. Oh family, can't live with them, can't live with them. Period.

Shopped for hours and hours yesterday, no car and not in the mall, we hit many different areas. My oldest daughter was in needof a new pair of glasses. We wound up with stunning, stunning glasses after going to 5 different places. They were too much money, but man oh man are they hot!! And of course she almost excusively wears contacts. I told her if she loses or breaks these she's on her own. She also needed snow boots, she's up in Boston for college and she wanted a pair of black knee high suede boots, just like her mom wants and can't wear because of her elephant calves - it's official, my calves are now wider then my thighs, I kid you not. Well she got the 2 pairs boots, but we walked for hours and hours. And my knees are in AGONY today. She of course could have went on for hours more. Oh to be 19 and not overweight. This is NOT how a 43 year old woman should feel after a day of shopping. We shall see.

But I was rewarded with a 4 pound weightloss today, my weigh-in day!!!!!! So yeah, I'm really excited. I blew past the 220's and am at 218, 2 pounds past my New Years Goal. I still can't believe it, the past 3 weeks have been 5 lbs, 5lbs and now 4 lbs. Who knows maybe I can be 214 by New Years, I'm gonna give it a try. Although we do have some rough, rough days ahead. I have 3 big parties coming up and I am terrified. "Gotta be strong, gotta be strong. I want to be thin more then I want the food, I want to be thin, more then I want the food. Everything in MODERATION, everything in MODERATION" she says as she tries to hypnotize herself.

Have a great and successful day everyone!!

Robin - You beat me to it, but I'm glad you started this week's chat thread - thank you!

Good morning to all of you lean-eating, fat-burning, body-moving ladies! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I still have to go back and catch up on last week's chat thread, which I will do later on today.

Busy busy busy. I stupidly thought I could squeeze in a workout yesterday, but I forgot that I actually had a concert that I had to sing in on Sunday afternoon - so that got messed up. I also thought that I'd be able to work out this evening, but I forgot that I had scheduled my annual with the gyn for tonight (fun! NOT!) - so due to my own lack of organization, I've now missed two workouts, which has me grumpy. I did manage yesterday, however, to do a lot of brisk walking on Main Street by the university to kill time before the concert... and after the concert, I braved the Mall (Maul) and swiftly hauled my butt around there a few times to get some more holiday shopping accomplished, so I did get a little bit of exercise in, after all. Tonight after my appointment, I'm going to go home and try to get in a Pilates workout so today's not a total wash.

The Maul wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be a week before Christmas. Being that Delaware is (I think) the only state in the United States that has completely tax-free shopping, around this time of year, everyone from all the surrounding states in the area descends upon tiny little Delaware to get their shopping done at substantial savings. That's fine - it's great for Delaware businesses - but it makes getting around Delaware impossible for the people that actually live here. There were four Delaware State Troopers at the Maul directing traffic just in the Maul parking lot yesterday. And forget about traveling the roads around the Maul.

Anyway - I really do have to go and get some work done (both my bosses are back, sigh), so I will try to get back here during my lunch hour to catch up on everyone.

Anyone want some WEED?
W - 96 oz
E - Pilates workout DVD, at the very least
E - 1200 calories
D - Avoid the platter of cookies that my co-worker brought in today!!

Have a great, healthy day, everyone!

Robin, You are such an inspiration!!! Congrats to you!!!! I can sypathize with the whole glasses dilemma. I usually wear contacts and I haven't gotten new glasses in 6 years. I was stuck without my contacts because I couldn't afford the eye exam for 4 months (thanks to long battle with pink eye). I have these HUGE BLUE gaudy things (they were all I could afford last time) I was going to get new glasses last year but I went just for the contacts because the visit was more than I thought it would be. AH, maybe this year I will get new ones.

I had an okay weekend, but I let my eating get out of control. I didn't do bad for my meals, but I was snacking on the worst things. I got candy cane hershey kisses, mmmm, after 4 or 5 of them, I divided them up into the stockings at work. Then I just have worked my way up from there. Today starts a new day.

I can't believe chrismas is in a week. I will be glad when it is over, too much stress! (I think I will feel better when I get my shopping done.)

Okay ladies, Time for my daily weed

W~80 oz
E~30 minutes
E~1500 cals
D~Pick up toys, go through things to donate to the good will, do dishes, Make dinner to take to work tonight!!!!!

Ladies, please realize that the ONLY reason I'm losing faster then you guys is because I started out at so, so, so much a higher weight then you. No, doubt you skinny minnies have a harder time. Although I can't wait to be as skinny as you, I know when I get to that point it will be complete and utter torture getting it off.

Jeni, I never, ever would have spent so much for MYself on glasses, but of course for my daughter, now that's another story. I'm always spending on the kids, me not so much. It's just the way it is.

Have a good one.

Robin, you indeed do ROCK! MotivationmotivationMOJOMotivation!

Just was telling my lc Buds that I'm doing the majority of my shopping on our Darling Yet Dying Historic Main Street - altho' will have to venture to the Madhouse Maul on Friday for the must have latest & greatest items on the Girl's list--(namely Bratz Crap & ipod) - made a resolution last year to get everyone some of the unique and cute stuff from Our Town's little shops - so far have a very unique little jewelry box for my D9 yroldD-someone's keepsake from yesteryear--covered in beautiful seashells/$5. Made a list of cute things I saw and will go back to haggle Fri/Sat.

So glad you brought up Pilates rowdy - checked out the ONLY Pilates vid at the library - "QuickFix" - also have a book about it - and after doing the tape - think this may be just what this soon to be 46 yr old bod is looking for. Surfed around 3FC's late last night reading up about it in the Exercise/Fitness section. ("Saw" jcatron there.) . . . soooo I like the Pilates (3 ten minute on this "Quick-Fix") but not so much the video. Any recommendations to subtly hint to my Family as a Xmas Gift? ("GET ME A PILATES DVD!!!" *shouted at the TOP OF MY LUNGS!!!* ) . . . Not looking for a rushed/Quick Fix and also would like to have Intermediate/Advanced on it - I need to start with Beginner - but am in pretty good shape for a Big Girl! Are you still on leslie sansone jcat? Or was that you? Saw one gal liked an MTV Pilates . . . but just have no idea what to look for ---other than I have NO equipment.

Tx for your help.

Nevertheless Robin it is so nice that you are losing it so quick!! It is a big accomplishment!!

Aud I do winsor pilates 20 minute workout, I like it but I am thinking about going to the advanced workout.

ARGHHH okay guys I need to vent and DH doesn't want to listen so I will bore you guys.

Okay to start off, our normal christmas is as follows:
24th~ christmas with my family, dinner with mom, stepdad and sisters. after dinner head to my dads for christmas presents/desert
25th 10am at DH's Aunts house, presents, breakfast (huge breakfast) home by 1 then dinner back at Aunts house at 5.
Thurs after christmas~ christmas dinner(I should call it a drunkfest) with co-workers and boss
Sat after christmas~Dinner with DH's family including his dad (not a big part of DH's life)
Of course new years eve....

Anyhow, This year I decided that since my dad is not working on Christmas Day I am going to cook him dinner. So now, Nana (the ultimate matriarch of DH's family) is mad that we won't be having dinner with them. (Isn't breakfast enough????)

THEN:
My normal thursday night party has been moved, but we aren't sure if it is Friday or Saturday If it is Saturday then I will cut my time short with DH's family (yet again I am such a bit**) That night is also serving as an Aniversary party for the Above mentioned Nana (and Papa of course) 55years. Yes it is important That I be there, but we will get there at noon (dinner is between 3-4) my party starts at 6;00, AUGHHH

Gotta love the Holidays!!

Robin ~ First off, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope your daughter realizes how lucky she is to have you as a mama and to be so young and NOT overweight! I'm twenty and I wish I wasn't overweight or at least had started this journey in high school. I completely understand about the eyeglasses thing. I wear glasses but I brought contact lense about two months ago. The thing is, I rarely wear them because I have to get up at 4 every morning and I just be too damn tired to be poking around in my eye!

Hi Nikki! Welcome!

W: 88 oz
E: 30 mins of cardio
E: have gone 400+ over my daily allowance....all for some new ice cream that wasn't even that good. Never again.
D: no bacon or muffin eating.....and I made it!

Thanks everyone for the congrats, it means a GREAT deal to me. Knowing that I have a group of people to be accountable to is a great motivation for me.

Jasonslea, my daughter might not agree with you that I am a great mom all the time. But thanks for saying so. Like all mother/daughter relationships we have our ups and downs. I'm happy to say for the most part it's on the up side. And yes, contacts and glasses are a real pain in the neck. I wish she didn't have to deal with it at all, but like I tell her and my 2 other daughters (they have their dad's eyes, I've never worn glasses) this should be the very worst health issue you ever, ever have.

Nikki welcome to the challenge, we are glad to have you here!

I'm so sorry that you young girls are struggling with weight issues. That you have the frame of mind to do something about it at such a young age is commendable. Please try to not be so hard on yourselves, cause that causes bad feelings, which in turn makes you want to eat. Yeah, it's a vicious cycle.

Congrats Robin!

So far this week has not been going as well as I would have liked. I couldn't get to the gym today because I had to finish shopping for the stuff that HAS to be mailed tomorrow and for some reason every thing was spread out all over creation, I just couldn't go to one place and be done I had to go to like 5. Then by the time I was done it was late and DH is home starving so he wanted me to just pick up some thing. Ugh fast food was the last thing I needed after finishing off a Frappaccino even if it was a light one (grande is 180 calories) so I decided on Chipotle. I didn't even eat 1/2 my burito and all that was on it was chicken, black beans, rice, and tomatos and trust me forgoing the cheese and sour cream was tough! I guess I shouldn't feel so bad my decisions weren't as bad as they could have been. I do have to go tomorrow to the gym and I did play some DDR today not enought though.

Here is tomorrow's WEED

W 64 oz
E 60 min various gym activites
E 1200 calories
D FInish wrapping the gifts I have, mail the presents, and clean up some of the mess downstairs!

Hi and Welcome Nikki!

Don't think there are any rules - we all just made some goals for the New Year and also some of us got on WEED! (I think ithis is right: )

W- daily water intake goal

E- daily excercise

E- eating plan goal

D- goal for the day

My goal was to lose 20#'s - started two days b4 Txgiving I think. Now that I'm on WEED . . . I've added a water goal - but haven't been too faithful to the exercice part at all. One of my "D" goals was to eat off my Mom's old china! These can really vary.

Soooo . . . jump on in - but be careful not to be unrealistic with weight loss type goals. I've made some great cyber-buds/supporters/motivators--which I love as much as my 20# goal, you know?

I'll check into the Winsor Pilates jcat . . . does that type need equipment?
