Chicks in Control, September Exercise!

Hey, all!

Challenge yourself to a little more exercise than you did last month. (for some of us, that's not a lot)
Take a few minutes, get out of your chair, and move it!!
:lifter: :belly: :yoga: :running: :bike2: :ebike: :workout: :woops: :running:

This month... I'm joining the gym again. And I'm committing to using my (finally blown up) new exercise ball 3-4 times a week, plus some running.

Come and join us! :welcome3:

Kate109 09-02-2006 07:14 AM

Ok, I am in....

Challenge for September: doing the Live better- Core Performance workout three times a week. And running two times a week.

I did my workout this morning, so I finished my exercise week!!

Hey, ellis, I am having fun (*:D *) with my new exercie ball as well. The funniest thing is to blow it up....I really checked which size I have to use, but mine seems so...small. Maybe itīs because it has to carry so much weight...It clearly looks different with me than it looks in the exercise ball manual.

justjodi 09-02-2006 07:33 AM

i'm getting back into exercise this month as well. my DS bought a home gym off a friend and now it is staring at me every time i go to the garage. there are a lot of exercises you can do on it. my sis and i started an exercise program with it yesterday. 3x a week on the home gym and stepper. we madit sort of like a circuit training thing and it takes about 30mins to complete 2 circuits. we'll add on as we need to.

i now have almost no excuse NOT to exercise, if i say i didn't exercise please feel free to remind me to take the 20 steps out to the garage and sweat a little!!

great goals kate and ellis!! let's make this a good month!

dgpebbles 09-02-2006 08:58 AM

Wll I'm in again...I didn't do very well last month so I'm going to push harder this month...My goal is to make it to the gym 3-4 days a week for weights and do cardio at least 5 days a week(either at the gym or jogging at home) and to post on here daily

We can all do this so lets get moving

ellis 09-02-2006 09:22 AM

Kate, my exercise ball seems really small, too. I used to have a bigger one, but apparently this one holds about 2000 pounds or something, so I figure it's safer. :D
It's pink. I did some sit-ups and things on it the other night. I'm going to do them again today...

Jodi, that's great that you're exercising with your sister!
We have one of those machines, too. It's in pieces in our attic. ;)
Yes, I will send you reminders. :drill:

Coffee first, then exercising... :coffee:

ellis 09-02-2006 09:23 AM

Hi, Donna! Great goals for this month!! :hat:

moonbeam65 09-02-2006 12:08 PM

Well, Ellis, I like your idea of challenging myself to exercise more.
I commit to going to the gym (last time was 5 months ago!) once a week. Let's see if I can get into their routine again...
Walked 4 miles this morning. Will do weights in a minute.
Did not exercise for three days and was bingeing for three days...
OK it's over, back on track!

_knot 09-02-2006 09:09 PM

hi everyone!

i just got back about an hour ago from a 3-day bike trip with my dad! 2 days of bicycling, though. we got caught in Ernesto (the tropical storm) for thursday night through early this morning, but all day thursday and today i biked! 95 miles total, and I burned 4136 calories!!

what i'm trying to say is, i'm in!

ellis 09-03-2006 07:22 AM

Cheez, _knot, you're amazing!! :hat:

Well... I'm a little embarrassed to say this now... :lol3: ... I got on my exercise bike yesterday (first time in months) and did 10 minutes. I was feeling very proud of myself until I read _knot's post...

So... how is everyone else doing? :D

Transformation 09-03-2006 10:25 AM

Getting In Gear For September!

I so admire all of you who are completing multiple miles of running at a stretch. I've been working on it, and the results have been nothing short of wonderful, but I've still got a long way to go yet! Reading all the posts at 3FC and seeing the pictures is such encouragement and inspiration. :D

Right now I'm lucky enough to live within walking/biking distance to work, so my plans are to begin power-walking there and back (on a consistent basis), and gradually building up to making the trip running or jogging. With a high-intensity power walk, it takes about 50 minutes. If I can increase my endurance level enough to eventually run that distance, it'll be an awesome workout indeed!

With that said, here are my goals for the coming week:

- Powerwalk a minimum of 3 days to and from work (50 minutes ea. way)
- Use the treadmill at least twice, for a minimum of 30 minutes
- Consume 6 or more meals of whole or raw, unprocessed, healthy food

Please pray for me and wish me luck, as I will for everyone else on the forum. Will update by week's end with a progress report!

_knot 09-03-2006 12:14 PM

Transformation, your goals sound great! i'd love to try a rawfoods diet a few days a week--have you done it before? keep us updated!!

as for me, i'm hoping to get a little bit of yoga or something in today. i'm a little sore from the bike trip.

rochemist 09-03-2006 12:43 PM

My goal is to try to fit in 15-30 min of something I like to do everyday. I don't care what it is, my life is really hectic right now so whatever is available I will take.

Friday 1st- 2 hours poolside, two 15 min intervals of water aerobics
Saturday 2nd-1 hour poolside, two 15 min of water aerobics, 10 min dancing by the pool, 10 min dancing in the airport (yes people stared, I love my life all the worlds a stage :) )

Today I think :yoga: or :belly: maybe after a nap ;)
Miss Chris

dgpebbles 09-03-2006 04:05 PM

Hi ellis  long time no see

anyway bad first two days with no exercise :tantrum: but tonight I am going to the gym with my freind...I finally talked her back into going again...so plans are to do 60 mins of weights and 30 min of cardio and maybe even some jogging after I get back home..

everyone seems to have some great:cheer: goals for the month

Transformation 09-03-2006 05:18 PM

Hi, Knot! Thx for the positive encouragement. I'm excited about the upcoming week, and looking forward to marking my entire checklist "Done"!!! Pray for me! :)

Raw and Whole Foods ... Yep, I've done both. I lost the most weight this year back in Jan - March when I was 100% all Raw. My skin cleared up (adult acne, general blotchiness, itchiness, some dry skin) and was clearer and softer than ever before. I also stopped using commercial soaps and shampoos, and switched to all-natural cleaners (which I still do to this day). My skin did backflips! :carrot: What a change! Raw Foods also kept me regular and bloat-free. My hair grew faster and was soooo thick and soft. And these are just a few of the changes. I'd always read about the miracles people experienced on raw foods, and it was a welcome change in my life to experience them for myself. Can ya tell that this week I'll be doing mostly raw? *lol*!!!

I'll definintely keep you updated on my progress ... and let me know how the yoga class goes :)

September is going to be a good month - I can just feel it! Hope everyone is doing well.. I know I've had a rough week, I was in Vegas & didn't do too well on my diet =(.. but now I am back on track! This month :
Jog/Run---2 or 3 days a week (at least)
Strength Train Video---3 or 4 days a week
I will make this a good month!

Flying Betty 09-03-2006 11:35 PM

Last night's impulse buy: a pair of cheap rollerblades from Target. I racked up 20 minutes in my parking lot and I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with them over the next month.

Kate109 09-04-2006 05:14 AM

Ok, Monday workout: done :carrot:

ellis: In my opinion it is much more efficient to do the best work YOU CAN DO at the moment without comparing yourself to others. As I started running regularly, I was so proud!! Like: Wow, 30 Min running! I am so great!! And the i met someone, 30 years older, a beginner in running as well, and he told me about the hour long runs he did....and all the stuff. He was faster, better conditioned....It took me a while to figure it out that my achievements werenīt rubbish just because someone else is doing better. You have to aknowledge were you came from.

Flying Betty: Rollerblading is such a great exercise! Unfortunately I couldnīt do that myself: I am really, really untalented in rollerblading.

Transformation: You have ambitious plans for this week and month!! And it sounds great!

rochemist:Dancing at the airport? Even as people stare at you? You are really, really great!! :carrot:

dgpebbles 09-04-2006 08:44 AM

sunday complete with weights and cardio

ellis 09-04-2006 09:46 AM

Kate, you're so right... thanks, hon.

I did some more ball-work last night. :)

It's only September 4th, and we're all exercising!! :cheer: :cheer:

ellis 09-05-2006 03:22 PM

Bike and ball last night, and a 30 minute walk this morning. :)

rochemist 09-05-2006 04:29 PM

Walked about 2 miles the previous day. Yesterday we cleaned all freaking day, and if anyone doesn't think cleaning is excercise can take a punch in the nose ;) I scrubbed nasty tar off my blinds, after I let them soak, the water was black, here'd to quitting smoking Kate! :hat:

Miss Chris

justjodi 09-05-2006 07:49 PM

i'm still in! i've done my 30 minute workout every day. cleaned and walked and cleaned some more over the weekend!

sounds like everyone is doing great keep it up!!

_knot 09-05-2006 09:16 PM

i'm a little concerned about getting my exercise in...school just started today and it looks to be a truckload of work. i got a bunch of textbooks dumped on me today and a few chapters of reading + notes.
at least i still have my weekends. i also may be able to get out in the mornings, and run or bike or something, since i am leaving about half an hour later this year.

everyone seems to be doing great this month! keep it up!

dgpebbles 09-05-2006 11:24 PM

tuesday complete with 60 mins weights and 30 min cardio..

dgpebbles 09-11-2006 09:11 AM

OMG what happened to everyone....its been 6 days since the last post...I hope everyone is still exercising...

I finished last week with 4 days of workouts

ellis 09-11-2006 09:16 AM

I'm here, Donna!
Good going, girl!!

We joined the Y again last week, and yesterday I had a GREAT run on the treadmill... :running: 15 minutes total running out of 30 minutes. And I did a little leg workout.

justjodi 09-11-2006 09:41 PM

you go ellis!! great job!! i want to run some day, i am so jealous!!

great week for you donna keep it up!!

i'm sticking to my weight/circuit training with my sister. i'm feeling stronger already. i need to check in at the Y and see if they added back my early sat am water aerobics, i really miss going to that.

have a good one chicks!!

dgpebbles 09-12-2006 09:20 AM

great job ladies...

jodi-- you will get there one day with the running...it just takes time to build up your strength

ellis 15 mins is great...I've never tryed running on a treadmill..I always just run outside

yesterday I did nothing...I was so tired that I came home and went to bed at 8:30...going to the gym tonight

have a great day

Kate109 09-16-2006 01:37 PM

Ok, I am back to my exercise plan after 10 messy days.
Workout for today: Done

ellis 09-17-2006 10:36 PM

Kate, I'm glad you're back exercising! I hope things are no longer too... ummm... messy for you.

Donna, I always ran outside, too, but I find running on the treadmill is easier on my joints at this weight. :(
Did you make it to the gym the other night?

How about you, Jodi-girl? ;) Been back to the Y yet?

I went on ummm... Wednesday, I think. Had a TERRIBLE workout. I only ran for 3- 3 minute intervals. I just couldn't get moving, you know? Anyhow, I did it.
Today I had an excellent workout. Did some weights and I ran:
8 minutes
5 minutes
3 minutes out of 30. :running:
My legs are still sore, so I took a couple of advil before I worked out. It helped a lot.

Kate109 09-18-2006 03:59 AM

Monday workout: done

ellis: Thanks! i am back to my schedule now- and I learned one thing: NEVER say "Yeah, just put my name on the To-do/ volunteer- list!" again. Never.

justjodi: I bet you will be able to run soon- if you want to. At the beginning, running was so hard for me- not only becaue of cardio problems. My knee hurted like ****, then I had knee and hip problems. After a few weeks of strength training, the pain is nearly totally gone. My legs (and the hips and all that between....) is much stronger now, so my running technique is better. I donīt have to compensate weak muscles with rotating my knee somehow.

"Great job!" to everybody here exercising!!

Sassy_Chick 09-18-2006 09:45 PM

Can I Join in?

Hey Gals.
