13 I bussed tabled at a Polish resturant. Got paid by splitting the tips with the waitresses and in puncki's (I probably butchered the spelling, little puffed pastry thingies). And pretty much worked in the food industry (in some capacity) for the next 10 years. What a shocker there.
I also worked at a Dairy Queen, Mandi, I managed that and a Tastee Freeze at the same time through college.
I was 14 when I got my first paying job....I worked 3 hours a day after school. I was'nt legally old enough to be working so I was paid cash for working there. The only reason I even got the job was cause my mom worked there and was freinds with her boss...and they needed someone to just watch the preschoolers for a couple hours in the evenings. Usually most of them would be gone home by 4 so I'd end up with like 4 kids to keep an eye on. It was a pretty easy and fun job...and I was happy cause I could afford to buy my own clothes and stuff.
Although it's June... I liked this question, so I figured I'd jump in (hope that is ok!):
I was about 11 when I started delivering the Star Ledger newspaper. I had my own push-cart to take all the HEAVY Sunday papers around in. (I HATED collecting so I think I was lucky to break even! hahaha)
Then, the first job I had to attend was when I was about 15 (with special permission from my parents) at the YMCA front desk. I made $3.35/hr (minimum wage) and still have my first dollar from that glorious paycheck! I was over the moon when I got that!! (I wish I could be that excited over that amount of money now! haha)
How embarrassing. I think I was 19. We lived in the country, and for some reason, I didn't get my drivers license until then.
I started my own painting company (just for the summers), and made vast amounts of money.
But if you're talking about actually being hired, I got my first part-time job in a lumber store at the age of 21.
My 15 year old daughter is currently putting out resumes for her first job.
