Evening...

Hi ladies, how goes it?

I made it to my home f2f meeting today - it's been 3 weeks! :o One week I missed due to being in Maine and last week because I had work junk to do. Anyway, it was GREAT to be back. :gossip:

My sponsor ended up leading (the original leader was a no show :?: ) and the step we discussed today was 11. I really enjoyed listening to her. I've got a cool sponsor. :smoking:

I am going to start walking in the mornings, again (I was doing this in the fall). It's a great way for me to connect with HP. :cloud9: And do a walking meditation.

Ellis, how's your dad doing? Sorry to hear he's ill! :grouphug:

Christy!!!! I was just thinking about you too. Glad you've rejoined us.

Chris, come on back, hun. We want to hear what you have to say. :blah:

Jennelle, stop making me jealous of your vacation. I want to be bored! :kickcan: I hope you're enjoying yourself. ;)

Have a good night, all!

ellis 05-28-2004 01:22 AM

Christy, I've missed you, sweetie!! Welcome back! :grouphug: You are CRAZY busy, hon! How's your family?

Hugs, Chris... :grouphug: What's going on with you?

Kat, how's your cold? :grouphug: I'm glad you like your sponser! (no, not ready for one yet ;) )

We took Dad into emergency again tonight. It's been a really rough week. They've scheduled him for surgery in SEPTEMBER!!! In the meantime, he's not able to eat or drink without vomiting, and he's in a lot of pain. They're giving him painkillers and Gravol to get him through until September. Give me strength!
I just pray that with the medications he'll be able to start keeping some nutrients and liquids down. He's dehydrated and losing weight. :(

Chris has alot of feelings, she will be over in the corner asking HP what to do next. What is the next right thing, when you feel the addict in you winning?

Much love to all!
Chris

treasaigh 05-28-2004 01:19 PM

Can I join you in your corner, Chris? I said goodbye to my friend yesterday, and I feel flooded.

Hi Christy!!

rochemist 05-28-2004 06:03 PM

Prayers for your Dad Ellis :grouphug: How is he doing? In fact how is your MIL Kat?

Oh Tracy, its those feelings that kick my butt. Well last night add feelings to being tired and you have a recipe for disaster. Just a handfull of sugar seems to have me off to the races these days. Duh. I am powerless over food. Chris is powerless over food. It makes her life unmanageable. It makes my job hard, my thoughts hard, my responsibilities seem huge. Thats why I would rather play with food than life :(

I will be back I have my F2F meeting where we discuss steps and traditions. We did Step 11 last week. I love that one. Jenelle, you started there, do you still practice? Tonight is Step 12. Having a spiritual awakening as a result................. Feels huge.

Much love to all!
Chris

Chris - I do....it's not "conscious", though...I haven't set aside a time to talk to HP and I don't have a prayer journal and I don't conciously meditate, but I talk to my HP all the time - especially in the car. Yesterday, after a particularly frustrating talk with a friend, I went to a park that I rarely have the opportunity to visit and I walked the 1.6 mile trail and just communed with my HP.

My name is cyndi , and I am a chocolaholic. :stress:

:D

Hi all

Ellis: My cold seems to have gone away. It didn't turn into much, thankfully. I am sorry to hear about your dad! Why is the surgery so far off?

Chris: I hope your meeting helped you out! I love step study. :D

Jennelle: Walking meditation, I love it. Starting that back up next week (was going to today but decided to sleep in a bit since I was fighting this cold).

Tracy: How are you?

Cyndi: Welcome!

I am so glad it's Friday! :dancer: This week I have been swamped at work, making up sessions with students because I had missed 4 days. I normally get in about 22-25 hours of therapy a week - this week I got in 41 1/2 hours! :fr: I grouped like mad.

Tomorrow is one year of abstinence for me. :hat: I am going to do some re-evaluation and make up some goals for this (HP willing) second year. Not sure what DH and I are going to do, although we do want to go to the movies. He has to go into work briefly, so I am going to tag along.

Both Sunday and Monday we're going to BBQs.

Have a good night...

Good mornin'! Thanks for the warm welcome back. (((girls)))

Chris -- I read your journal yesterday. Sorry things are tough right now. Hang in there!

Kat -- Congrats on your one year anniversary! Wow, that's quite an accomplishment. So proud of you!

I have my WW weigh-in this morning. (I know...Chris and Jennelle are probably cringing at this!) I know that Weight Watchers won't deal with my food issues per se, but I'm at the put-up-or-shut-up point with this weight loss thing. Strokes, diabetes, and heart disease run in my family and I know that I can't dodge that bullet for much longer at 240+ pounds. Plus I have a preteen daughter that I can see has some of my body issue tendencies and I need to counteract that as much as possible. So far, no obsession with overplanning or binges. I'm being very realistic about my progress and didn't fall into the abyss when I had a slight gain last week. We shall see...

Whew, I'm glad that's out in the open now. I felt like maybe you guys might revoke my membership in the ED club when I 'fessed up to WW. (Kat, you're still doing your version of it, aren't you?)

Today is a good day. Some friends and I are going out to dinner and a movie tonight. It's been over a year since I was able to do something like that! I can't wait.

You all have a wonderful day!

Love,
Christy

Hi Girls!! Christy, I did WW a couple of years ago, but I found that even with extra nursing points, I consistently went over each day. That was a big clue for me that I needed to start somewhere else. But it certainly can help you get into a more healthy eating mindset - for that reason, I've considered getting all my stuff out and trying again. So good luck to you!!

Kat - I've been too self-absorbed to ask - how is your MIL? Still showing signs of progress?? I'm thinking of her often. Also, are you having fun TTC?? I have this mental image of Catwoman and Batman getting it on. :p Hope it takes just as long as you want it to. ;) I loved being pregnant. So much anticipation and excitement. Even the birth was fun.

Chris - you are an inspiration to me, even when you don't feel like it. I hope you're having a better day.

I'm okay. I think my medication may need to be adjusted or something. I was at the ATM last night, (no, didn't empty my account and drive to Mexico) getting money for Chinese food for the family, and I thought, "What the **** am I doing here? I was not meant for such a normal life." And I'm scared shitless I may be pregnant again. It's too early to tell, but something is up. With the nursing, it's hard to know. (I'm NOT saying this to scare Kat, but hopefully, she stopped reading after my note to her!!) I don't know if my marriage could survive another child, as much as I love my kiddies.

Has anyone read The Diet Alternative by Diane Hampton? Her program is based on Bible scripture. I like it. I'm becoming the self-help queen lately. I'm Bridget Jones. (looking for drunk smilie)

Love all!

Jennelle 05-29-2004 11:11 AM

Christy - Lots of people use WW as a food tool while going through OA. If it's what works for you, then it works. I just know it doesn't work for me.

Tracy - Your life isn't ordinary. Your life is a miracle. :) Tough to feel that way sometimes, though, I know!

Kat - A year of abstinence! Congratulations!

KatSLP 05-29-2004 11:16 AM

Happy OA birthday to moi! ;)

Morning gals!

Christy: WW is a great FOOD PLAN. As long as you work your program and make that the #1, then there's no big deal about using WW as a plan. I actually stopped WW a couple of weeks ago because we started TTC and I wanted more calories in - it's pretty low in calories, so I didn't want to possibly starve my body in early pregnancy (before knowing I'm pregnant).

Tracy: Thanks for asking about my MIL. She's still making progress and entered a rehab facility the other day. Her language is still limited but is slowly improving. DH's family is probably flying us back to Maine in early July to see her (I'll be on vacation and the movie DH is working on will be done with filming and into post-production).

I am LMAO at the idea of us as Catwoman and Batman. I can't wait to share that one with DH. ;) I am sorry you're worried about another pregnancy. Please keep us updated! :grouphug: And don't worry, you didn't scare me. :)

Jennelle: Hey, come back! How are you? :p

So today's my OA birthday. Wow. It's been quite a year. The biggest thing, which just happened, was dealing with my MIL's stroke. I realized a couple of days into it that I had not had an urge to eat. :mcd: I credit that to constantly talking to HP the whole time. Just little "hellos" and "this blows" kept me grounded and in touch with her.

I will post my story today or sometime this weekend. Thanks for the birthday well wishes. :)

Jennelle 05-29-2004 05:49 PM

Hey Cyndi -

I posted a post on the OA board for you. Welcome to our group!

rochemist 05-29-2004 06:34 PM

I got some sleep

 And I am feeling alot better! Yesterday was not a fabulous food day, but I am in touch with my program and I feel very hopeful. I already called in my FP for today :D

Congratulations KAT!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :hb: :cheer: :grouphug:

Jenelle- I so enjoyed talking to you this afternoon. Your so awesome! I love you :D

Kat- Have you upped your folic acid intake too as your TTC?

Tracy- Everyones life is special, because its your life. I use to use a quote that said, "What ever I do today is important, because I spent a day of my life on it"

Christy- We always love you and I don't care if your FP was 3 binges a day as long as you keep stopping by to get some support and love. You are Christy, not your FP. :grouphug:

On that note say HI Ellis!
Going to have the day I am suppose to have!
Chris

cyndi7 05-29-2004 07:38 PM
