I seem to be stuck at a plateau, and this week has been less than successful diet-wise. I relaxed a lot Sunday, ended up going out to get drinks Tuesday, and then today I actually purged after eating. I've only done this a few times in the past year (and never had much of a history of it prior), but I'm just frustrated.
I know this isn't going to be a pattern and I know I'm not going to give up, but this whole situation where the more progress you make, the harder it is to continue making progress is really wearing on me. I can't really cut back on calories much more than I am because I'm using livestrong and they recommend about 1056 a day. As far as exercise, I am following couch to 5k so it's not like I can just up and run an hour every day. This is just irritating.

Honestly, 1050cal a day sounds too low to me! I'm no nutrition expert, so please take this with a grain of salt... but every time I've spent multiple days close to 1000, I don't lose weight that week. Especially if you're exercising! Are you eating healthy whole foods? Veggies, lean proteins, whole grains? I'd try boosting to 1300-1400 for a couple weeks and see if it makes a difference. Currently, I'm able to lose on 1500-1600 cal a day. Everybody's different, but 1050 sounds way low!

As far as the B/P, you don't need me to tell you that it's unhealthy, you already know that. I've done it a few times in the past, when I ate soooo much I was literally sick, but like you I don't have a history of it. Beyond the physical aspect, for me it became a mental issue of owning my decisions. If I choose to overeat, then I force myself to live with the consequences... feeling gross and full and gaining weight. For me, it was the only way to really adjust my eating habits and decision-making abilities.

I think the most important thing I've learned in the last year is that weight-loss is NOT a science. Some weeks I do everything perfect and I lose. Some weeks I do everything perfect and I DON'T lose. Some weeks I seemingly drop pounds like magic! There are aspects to the process that I CAN'T control. So, I keep at it and focus on long-term sucess. Some weeks I'm ravenously hungry and likely to tear the packaging off anything in sight. Some weeks I'm barely even interested in food. There's a lot that goes into it -- emotional, physical, logistical with schedules, etc... best of luck and hang in there!

ANd really, look at that calorie count! Experiment a little!

You're eating only 1000 calories per day? That is far too few. (As a comparison, when I was at the height of weight loss mode, I ate 1200-1300 calories daily in order to dip into the 130s.)
I highly suggest you try 1600 or so, especially if you're running! You have to step down your caloric intake the closer you get to goal, and at 1000 now, you have absolutely nowhere to go.
I'm sorry you're frustrated. Congratulations on making the commitment to a healthier lifestyle!

I agree 1000 calories a day is too low. I don't see how you can go any lower than that. B/P is not the way to go , either. Try a healthy diet and exercise plan, 1600 calories a day sounds more like the right amount .

Having a calorie limit that is too restrictive is a recipe for...well....less than desirable outcomes. Please increase your calories. At least go to 1400....at your current weight, you will lose nicely. The thing about B&Ping is that it can start out slow and before you know it, you are no longer in control.
