Default Feeling full enough in the evenings & fear of hunger

I struggle with feeling "full enough" in the evenings - last night I had about 1000 planned calories at dinner and still didn't feel satisfied when I was done - Could have totally eaten more. It's such a struggle cause I know I've eaten "enough" but I end up going to bed very slightly hungry - and I don't do well with hungry - SUCH an uncomfortable feeling for me. And then I wake up starving. Any advice? Do ya'll think we have to just get used to going to bed slightly hungry? I've heard this school of thought before but I'm just not comfortable with that feeling - almost like a vulnerable feeling. Any tips on getting comfie with hunger?

How slowly do you eat? I find eating while I'm doing some activity (at work, housecleaning etc etc) that I feel like my meal lasts longer. Granted, it's not as warm as it was when I started... lol Also it makes me feel like I've been eating for a longer time and my brain thinks it's full!
