Default I know this sounds weird, but...

Ever since I was a little girl, I've been obsessed with Disney Princesses. I've been obsessed with my weight for about the same amount of time.

Well, for years I've battled with the evil time of day between lunch and dinner when all you want to do is stuff your face when you're not even the least bit hungry. Now what I do to control my boredom cravings is grab a Disney Princess coloring book! I used to try and read magazines, but I always ended up having one hand stuffed in a bag of Tostitos while the other was turning the pages. With coloring books, I've found that you have to use both hands, one to color and the other to maintain control of the book, and you focus so hard on coloring perfectly, that you lose all interest in food.

It also helps that the princesses are skinny and beautiful, yes?

I think coloring is a great outlet. When I was younger, I used to color big posters with my sisters...I'm not sure what they're called, but it's printed on thicker paper and usually comes with thin felt-tip markers. I am looking for something like this right now.

Another thing that keeps me occupied when I have cravings: online solitaire and online crossword puzzles.

Hmm, there might be a connection between your Disney princess obsession and weight. I know that my weight issues started after I began subscribing to women's magazines (well, there were many other factors involved w/ binge eating and weight gain but the magazines didn't help). I have a love-hate relationship with magazines....I want to be as thin and beautiful as the women in them but know that in reality that will never happen...so I eat.

I don't think it's weird...I have a circus coloring book

I'm not obsessed with the circus or anything, but I've found the same thing as you...if I have a spare 10 minutes and I'm feeling binge-y, coloring in that book really takes my mind off it!

There very might well be a connection to my weight with my love for Disney Princesses, but my weight started to go up right after my parents' divorce when I was in first grade. My mom gave me Wendy's and my dad gave me Taco Bell. I've never been thin since.

Default Disney Princess

Hi,

I don't think it's odd at all to color. It's like you're starting back where you left off and never should have stopped. I wish I was as smart about what I needed as as I was when I was a kid. I didn't judge what I was feeling or if I deserved something. My favorite princess is Belle and I occasionally collect Belle figurines, etc.

Portia68, Michaels or Hobby Lobby sells those posters with the felt tip markers. I like to buy the books in the art section that are filled geometrical designs. I've always enjoyed coloring those designs.
