This is what I'm going to repeat to myself while walking through the local CVS, Duane Reade, Walgreen's (all drug stores) for the next few weeks:

"Yes, I smell all that cheap chocolate. How could I not? There are two whole aisles crammed with this stuff. Bunnies & chicks & eggs in the happy colors of spring flowers.

But it's not for me. It's for small children, and even then, only in limited quantities.

So when I leave here, with my Zyrtec or glass cleaner or whatever legitimate purchase that drew me into this place, I'm going to the little Asian-run grocery store that sells flowers or the flower shop next door, and I'm going to buy a bunch of daffodils or a potted hyacinth instead.

When I was fat, I always 'treated myself' with cheap sweets. I always thought flowers were extravagant. Funny, I never had enough money for flowers, but I always had enough money for stuff that was bad for me.

So, this Easter, I give myself permission to buy myself spring flowers, Easter flowers. As many as I want. Which smell much better than cheap chocolate, and make me happier, and make my apartment look prettier."

There's one thing I think that I'll always miss about Easter - those little yellow marshmallow Peeps. I moved to CR a bit over 5 years ago, and Easter isn't a commercial holiday down here, so the whole Easter Bunny/candy thing just doesn't exist.

But I do miss them lil buggers, lol.

What's SOOO strange is that I gave up chocolate for Lent and I've been able to live without it, but as soon as that's over, I'll probably gobble up all I can find on the shelves. Ugh! I'll have to commit to avoid that now. Good luck to everyone on avoiding temptation.

That is such a good idea. I am thinking I might borrow your idea and join you in this endeavor... Holiday colored M&Ms are my biggest vice. I can eat an entire bag if given the opportunity.

I can't wait for Easter to be over and for all the candy to be bought out on clearance! This Halloween-Easter time period has been torture!

When My kids were little, I would buy their Easter candy several times. I would buy it, eat it, buy more, eat it and hope the night before Easter, I would have enough to put in their baskets. Then after they got them Easter morning, when they weren't looking, I would take a few pieces. They would blame each other for stealing their candy, but it was actually me. Halloween was even worse!!!

I was in CVS last night to pick up a prescription and screw the cheap stuff, they had Lindt chocolate on sale ! I usually buy dark chocolate regularly but I have a lot at home right now so didn't need any.
